A very inexpensive, comfortable and clean means of short staying somewhere, which is managed very well, by Sue the proprietor, and her small team of administrators and support staff. I booked in for 2 nights, for attendance at the Caernarfon Food Festival, where I was a volunteer on the Yes Cymru stall. If you are comfortable sharing your space with others, maybe outdoorsy folk, then I would thoroughly recommend Ty Glyndwr, if ever visiting Caernarfon, or the nearby Eiri National Park.
There is usually always a snorer, but I don't think it was me - Most fortunate it was only one of the intermittent ones!

Very kind welcoming host Good value for money Accommodated my late check in request for 11pm Clean facilities The beds are very comfortable (much more so that the average hostel) Very nice breakfast which is a real bonus for the price you pay For your information: Although there is a bar it is in the basement and the rooms are on the top floor. Also the bar closes at 11 so you can get a good midnights sleep without disturbance during the night
Parking can be tricky but some careful powering can lead to a free spot within walking distance.

I stopped over for one night and drove over to Snowdon the next day which was just a 20/30 min drive away. I also parked over night in a car park round the corner which was free during the night. Location was great, surrounded by picturesque streets. Decor in the hostel was great, a really nice aesthetic and you can tell a lot of effort has gone into it. Su was really welcoming and friendly. There was a nice and simple breakfast and I had some toast and fruit. There was also an option for a cooked breakfast. There weren’t many people staying so Su sorted a room to myself which was great. Wi-Fi was great and also plenty of plugs for charging in the rooms. Rooms were well heated and I didn’t get cold in the night when it was baltic outside. Lots of local bars and restaurants to choose from in the area. Would definitely stay again and maybe see a bit more of the town/beach in the summer.
The only issue I had was there’s a bar just across the road so it was a bit noisy with the single glazed windows. But not the hostels fault of course. It was a Saturday night also. Just a tip to bring earplugs if you’re visiting on the weekend!

The host was very sweet and accommodating! There were no women-only dorms available. I requested a women-only dorm if possible, and she did her best to accommodate that even though it wasn't guaranteed. I told her it was more of a preference, but she still was able to make that happen for one of my nights (which I appreciate very greatly!) They also had a live band play for one of the nights, they were so entertaining!
(Context: I'm a digital nomad that was working during my stay). There wasn't really a good place for me to work on my laptop. I was able to work in the reception area, but people would get me confused with someone who was working for the hostel. It wasn't the best place for a nomad, but otherwise no other complaints.

Su herself is the new owner for this lodge. Friendly, talkative and attentive at the same time. Bed and mattress are comfortable, clean and room is odourless. No bed mites. Su takes every corner and making sure her tenants stay comfortably and greet us every morning. Walking distance to bus station, 10 min walk to catch 5C (Bangor Route) and S1 to Llanberis. The unit is within the castle wall itself and its one of the UNESCO heritage and shouldn't have missed a chance to enjoy the serene morning everyday. I enjoyed my stay in Ty Glyndwr. Decent morning continental breakfast, what can you ask further with this price. Highly recommended!

A very central location in Caernarfon. Easy-to-find. Easy check-in and check-out. Su is a very friendly host / owner and showed me around the facilities. I had a secure place to leave my bike. Facilities were good. A hot shower to freshen up after a long cycle ride from Dolgellau. A great breakfast downstairs in the bar. Co-owner Matthew was great to talk to before I departed the following morning. Bedroom was 'cosy' - it is a hostel, after all. But, the bed was comfortable and clean. I hired a good-sized towel for the shower. All-in-all, I would recommend this place for a good-priced stay in a very central location.
There's nothing I didn't like about this hostel.

beautiful setting, right in front of the castle. historic building with history. A very nice room to accommodate a large family. tea making facilities, and fridge available. also a microwave. Games and Xbox supplied which helped entertain the children. amazing views from the windows.
no car parking near the property. Had to leave our car in a local car park that’s not monitored. also quite a walk back to the property. Not advisable for booking for disabled people., as stairs are many to the floors and steep. also stairs down to breakfast area. Breakfast is very basic, cereal & toast with fruit juices .

Right near the castle, easy to find. Clean and tidy, Su was absolutely amazing and super nice. Room was spacious and beds were comfy. Family room has 2 "beds" under the eaves but it was perfect for our 3 year old who liked the adventure of sleeping in a hidey hole.
Shower was running cold and TV kept disconnecting from WiFi (to the chagrin of my toddler 😅) however it was in the middle of a storm so I won't blame the venue for this.

Great location, simple yet clean and comfortable, very friendly host, nice bar
The breakfast could be a little richer - you can have a toast with jam and butter, cereal, fruit and that’s it. Considering that people usually stay there for surfing or hikes they need a proper and filling breakfast. I’d appreciate a little bit more options (at least some ham and cheese) that give you at least the feeling of being “full”

Rhys is absolutely amazing. A wealth of knowledge and can answer any questions you have. The location is perfect. If driving you can be to most places in 20 minutes (inc Snowdon) and there are also buses running from Caernerfon to the rest of North Wales. Caernerfon itself is a great base and all the locals are super friendly. Lots of places to eat and things to do. Beds are super comfy, and never seen so many cereals provided at breakfast. Super clean, and never had to wait to use a shower which were also clean.
