Terrific location and amazing gardens which really do need to be seen to be believed. all leading down to a secluded beach. Staff were really friendly and did there best to make the stay as pleasurable as possible.

Sadly the restaurant was rather pretentious, way over priced for what was served. I had sea bass and it was as though I’d cooked it and I’m defo not a chef.. I struggle with the basics. 3 tiny Scallops costing more than £5 each is taking things to the extreme… these were a disappointment in taste! Add in the fact that the menu didn’t change in the 4 days we were there made the eating part the less enjoyable bit of our stay. Also supposed to be hot on wines too but had run out of Sancerre… for 4 days! The barman worked his socks off and they really need one extra staff member. Even when they are not too busy take a while for drinks as he is taking orders, making and delivering.

The gardens and beach are exceptional - these are the main reasons we chose Hotel Meudon for our stay. The view of the garden from the rooms and breakfast was a wonderful start to the day and we loved exploring all the flora and fauna. When the conditions are calm, the sea is crystal clear turquoise and it felt like a real slice of paradise, well located on the South West Coast Path for walks in either direction. We loved the quirky, retro feel of the hotel interior and the fact that it's dog-friendly - with food bowls, treats, a bed and dog towel provided. The room was clean and comfy with a large bed, modern bathroom and plenty of space for luggage.

The breakfast was quite basic with few vegan options, and the restaurant area seemed understaffed as it was always quite a wait for any food or drinks. We were also very disappointed that the Bream Box was not open during our stay as we were excited to have pizzas and coffee on the beach - it says on the website and board outside that it's open every day, but we were first told that it's open Thursday-Sunday (it wasn't) to then be told by someone else that it's "closed for winter" even though we visited in mid-September (still technically summer, and also 20 degrees and sunshine for the week). Please also note that the dog charge is £25 per night which is quite steep and not specified until after you've made a non-refundable booking.

Very good food … expensive, but very well cooked and served. Staff in restaurant were 10/10. The gardens down to the beach we’re lovely and made a very pleasant walk. Rooms were roomy and comfortable with tea/coffee etc .. very good bathroom and shower .. If you are looking for a short quiet break ..I would recommend going..

Over £6 for a 330ml bottle of beer was a bit pricey… but still enjoyed my stay ..

The dining room for doggy dining was good and all the staff were lovely. The room was clean and spacious with a bed, bowls, towel and treats for the dog. The location and view is good and the bed very comfortable. The hotel has been refurbished very nicely and is an improvement especially the lighting.

Nothing in the actual Hotel but the garden is neglected to the point that it is no longer a tropical paradise anymore. It’s more of an overgrown jungle. I think they are lacking an experienced gardener or the gardener does not have enough help to keep on top of it.

I booked this hotel as I thought the gardens looked amazing would be a wonderful place to relax when visiting family locally who are unwell. It was idyllic. Beautiful surroundings, almost in a world of their own, lots of colour, dappled sunlight, terrace for drinks...I loved wandering down to the beach for an early morning swim in the cove which I had all to myself. Our room overlooked the garden. The people who work here were very welcoming, polite and cheery. My mother really enjoyed her visit. The lift was handy for her to be able to get to the dining room and terrace. Breakfast was fine.

I did struggle to park - hotel was super busy and I have a big car but I did find a space.

Good choice of breakfast, beautiful gardens and walk down to the beach. It is so close to being perfect.

On two occasions the dining table was not laid up for us. On the first night we ended up with low lounge chairs sat at a dinning table at a higher level. Second occasion we got a wobbly picnic table. This was the dog dining area. Food was never piping hot, on one occasion stone cold so had to go back and at £30+ for pork tender loin and one piece of pak Choi expect it to be hot. I’m not sure why the dogs cost so much (£350 2 dogs for a week) I don’t know what we got for the money. It’s a lovely hotel, good staff - get the small detail right - hot food, dining sorted, a slice of lemon in the gin and not having to wait to check in and it would be perfect

Lovely hotel and stunning gardens. The staff were very helpful and welcoming.

Our evening meal in the restaurant was average at best, and did not represent value for money. This disappointment aside, all the restaurant staff were polite and efficient. Our sleep was brutally interrupted by the fire alarm going off. I guess that can't be helped however, there was no information or explanation and it was only on for 10 seconds. Long enough however, to get everyone out of bed and wandering aimlessly around the corridors. We all had to assume it was a false alarm!

Breakfast was absolutely superb, great choice of buffet and cooked to order dishes. The piece de resistance gor us all though, was the cream tea we had on arrival, which was absolutely fantastic....Best ever! And that's a lot, having had tea at Gleneagles Hotel, tge Ritz, Savoy etc

Rooms were rather hot; and it would have been great if teas etc I'm room were topped up more often...but that was probably b/c we spent a lot of time in the room so they may have tried when we were there

Everything. The staff were the nicest we've ever met anywhere - every single member! They were so welcoming and genuine. This truly is a dog friendly hotel - not just lip service. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left it was like being in a slice of heaven. The private beach is a gem of the south coast and between this and the luscious sub tropical garden full-blooming in the sunshine of early May, I can't imagine a better hideaway for one blissful night. After walking part of the coast path to the Helford river we had a cream tea in the garden before dinner and then had sublime food before enjoying a comfy night in a huge bed. The mid century styling with modern artwork is everything. Honestly, I can't rate the place highly enough and hope it remains a hidden gem. Incredible. Thank you.

Nothing whatsoever. Leaving was the only hardship.

I booked two rooms and we took our dog. Very pleasant, clean rooms with balconies with views of the garden. Breakfast was very good and ingredients good quality. We had light evening meals in the area by the bar as we had the dog with us. The waiting staff were excellent, friendly and efficient. The food was delicious. There were plenty of places to sit inside and out and the gardens were extensive and interesting and you could walk down to a little beach.

I think it was all lovely, welcoming, clean and comfortable.
