The room was clean, quiet and comfortable, which is the first thing I look for. The facilities in the room were of a good standard. The hotel is located not far from the centre of the city and so is easily within walking distance and allowed us to explore the sights with ease. As we were only staying one night, it was nice to be be able to leave the car parked in the car park after we'd checked out and go exploring without having to find somewhere else to park it.

The only slight criticism is that the breakfast could have had a bit more variety. Some places offer a range of alternatives to the traditional English breakfast, such as salmon or kippers, which would have been a nice option.

The hotel does not give a great impression when you arrive as it needs a lot of its outer paintwork re doing. The inside is dated but the rooms were large,comfortable and very clean. The staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was excellent. They let us park from early in the day we arrived until late on the day we left. There is a large car park at the rear of the hotel. Excellent location for accessing the river path and only a very nice 20 minute walk into town. Will stay here again

Extremely comfortable large, light and airy rooms. Traditional style, but the rooms were in excellent condition and not at all out-dated or tired. A refreshing change from the identikit modern, characterless and cramped business-style hotel rooms which are everywhere now. There was also lots of off-street parking space and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

The coffee at breakfast wasn’t great. It was rather watery and served in a thermos flask. It would have been very nice to have the option of having high quality, freshly made coffee at breakfast (expresso, cappuccino etc). I would have been happy to pay extra for this. It would also be nice to have had a choice of tea bags at breakfast (earl grey etc). Other than that, the breakfast was excellent.

The outside, to be honest looked a little grubby and we wondered whether we had made a mistake. However, inside was very different. Our twin room and en suite were extremely clean and well furnished, with immaculate linen, white fluffy towels and smelled fresh. The breakfast was really good, with an excellent choice. We had the cooked breakfast, which was exceptionally good. The staff were really friendly. We will definitely use this hotel again.

Comfortable beds in a spacious room. Our location was on the ground floor in the front of the house, but it was quiet. Curtains darkened the room well and there were tea and biscuits in the room. Check-in was easy. Location was great. Breakfast was delicious — the woman there taking orders was incredibly delightful and sweet.

The shower was difficult to turn on and get to a normal temperature. It looked like something was missing from the front of the “knob.” There was also mildew or mold in the corner — just needs a good spritzing.

The breakfasts are good. The room we had was a bit small, esecially the bathroom. The car park at the back is very good. The hotel is central to the city with a short walk either by road or accross the greens.

Satarday night, one room below us were having a party, with loud music and singing. When contacting the sister hotel about it, they first said to deal with it ourselves and also said another person had complained, eventually they said they would see to it. They came and had a word with them and the noise stopped.

Comfortable beds. Clean bedrooms and bathrooms. Spacious, safe and free off road parking. Very nice, professional and helpful staff.Breakfast was quite good and service efficient. Pleasant breakfasting room.

Fruit offering could have been more varied than just tinned grapefruit.I personally like it but expected more choice than that for £80pp ! Coffee quality could.have been a bit better. Bath was a bit big for me, but would have suited a 6ft + person well. There was a shower over bath too though.

Ample free, safe, off road parking at the rear of the hotel. Room was adequate for our needs. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The three Js were super and looked after all our needs. About 15 mins from the town centre with three routes to take e.g. via the commons. alongside the river Cam or the roadway. We used local eating places-they suited us and were reasonably priced.

Those cyclists-they are everywhere. Need to watch where you walk.

The hotel is in need of refurbishment (very 80s decor, furnishings and fittings) but it was clean and tidy. The staff we met at breakfast were friendly. The private car park is a bonus in a crowded City centre.

As above, it does need a refurb but I believe plans are underway for an extension which presumably will include a refresh of the original part. It would be good to have a night porter in case of emergency.

Our second stay, brilliant location for strawberry fair,,just a short walk,,supermarket across road,,large safe carpark,,excellent breakfast,,staff lovely,,especially Jackie at breakfast awesome lady,,super friendly,,and so was lady upon checking in but unfortunately didnt get her name,,we will be back!!

Bathroom a little tired,,needs an adjustable height shower aswell a a freshen up,,but this is a super old building and we love the 70s decor and old fashions in room
