The host is very polite and friendly, the rooms are cosy, comfortable, and clean. The rooms are quiet and there is a garden with birds. The breakfast was convenient, quality okay for the price. The apartment is easy to reach from the city center. It is nice to walk cross the nearby river and the park to St. Johns Colledge. I highly recommend the Carlton Lodge.

Payment could have been easier, my card didn't work with the check machine (I check my bank account before) – so I had to transfer from euro to pound and there were taxes.

The location is ideal, only a short walk to the city centre but in an area that is relatively quiet and peaceful. The best part was Ciaran's service as host, as well as the lovely breakfast in the morning. He also provided tea and coffee in the room.

The shared bathroom is a bit small, but I was able to have a shower without any issues and there was also a sink in my room for brushing my teeth. The room is fairly simple, but great value for the price.

The Owner and the Staff were very, very, very friendly and the level of their hosbitality was extraordinary. I very much enjoyed knowing and meeting them. The breakfast was very good.

Although I booked a One bed room, the size of the room was aprox. 1.5 m x 3m (so not very big!) but comparing to other good thing in the local... that can not consider as a negetive point.

Great location, just 5 minutes to the town centre by bus. The bus stop is just over the road and the number 2 bus is every 10 minutes.

Taxi fares are quite expensive in Cambridge. I have nothing bad to say about our stay....

The host is very kind, has excellent humor, was always up for a chat, and answered all my questions about Cambridge. Very "at home" atmosphere. Bed mattress was excellent. Everything very clean. Location is perfect to visit the May bumps rowing competition on the Cam, which was the main purpose of my visit :-) The main part of town (where all the colleges etc are) can be reached by foot within 15 min.

I needed an accommodation near the Cambridge University St. John's college and was happy to have stayed in the Carlton Lodge. The host is very kind and even provided me a power adapter since I forgot to bring mine. It was always nice to have a chat with him. The room was cozy and warm, with a TV, water sink, and kettle - for me, everything I needed. The WC was directly nearby. All in all a very nice stay - thanks a lot! :)

The place is very clean and the host is extremely kind and professional. The breakfast was surprisingly good (for a continental). The bed was quite comfortable and the space was good. For the money, the location, service and conditions are great! (The place is old, but it grows on you.)

As it is a fairly old house (as many in the area), the walls are not particularly noise-proof, therefore it depends on your neighbors if you'll have a quiet evening or not. First night was extremely quiet and very comfortable, with only a bit if shuffling in the very early morning, but the following night was a bit of a problem. Nothing a pair of noise cancelling earplugs cannot fix, but nonetheless to be kept in mind.

I had a lovely stay at Carlton Lodge. Their location is perfect for anyone wanting to walk around beautiful Cambridge and breakfast has everything you need to start your day well. My bed was very comfy and, all in all, I truly felt at home. Ciaran is an excellent sparring partner with a very kind presence. I can only recommend having all the nice chats!

I had a very nice stay at the Carlton Lodge and I am looking forward to come here again in the future. Breakfast was good and included a cooked egg, Tea or coffee, toast and a variety of sandwich spreads. The room was perfect and it was nice to have your own sink at the room. The owner of Carlton Lodge was a very friendly and I had some great talks about everything in the UK, cultures, languages and much more. I really can recommend this place in Cambridge

The breakfast was prepared by the house owner who was quite like my grandparent. It was warm and nice. The location is quite convenient, near to both the city center and West Cambridge. The bus station is just 20 meters away.
