I arrived earlier than my scheduled time and so I was fortunate to speak with someone that wasn't working on this particular day but was able to assist me into the cottage. It was very cosy and warm, the kitchen had all you needed for self catering. The bed was comfortable and was pleasantly surprised about the first floor and how spacious it was. Perfect retreat for a couple or small family 4-5 people. Lovely picturesque views from the cottage. It's attached to the farmhouse and so you could hear noises from the main house but it wasn't a bother. More to the point that I may have been a bother as I'm generally a loud talker when on the phone in general.

I didn't like that you could hear people from the main house coughing or generally moving around and likewise them hearing me when i'm on the phone etc. The TV is old and took me a while to turn it on as the remote didn't work. The shower was ok but not too much pressure and had sudden dips in pressure from what I can assume is another tap being ran.

A nice rustic, homely, little cottage that is perfect for a solo traveler like me or a couple wanting to get away for a short break. It is nicely decorated and clean and warms up quickly should you need to use the heating, which you shouldn't have to do in the middle of June, but you can't help the weather. Penybryn Cottage is well equipped with what you need, including a dishwasher in the kitchen (just remember to bring dishwasher tablets if you are going to use it). The seating and bedding is comfortable and there is a hot tub, which costs extra if you want to use it. The area is quiet, the cottage being on a small farm (say hi to the sheep) in a residential area Aberdare, with plenty to do and see in the area as well as providing a great starting point for trips to Cardiff and Swansea.

While the cottage is quite nice, it could do with some TLC in some places. The bathroom in particular I think is in most need of attention. The following are some little nitpicks that don't really effect the score. The information booklet could do with some revision. It claims that there is a washing machine in the cottage I stayed in and there wasn't. There are Playstation games there and no Playstation that I could find. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were hard and flat. No sharp knives that I could find. Rude cat, didn't want to be stroked:)

Our return to this charming Welsh cottage was as enchanting as before, with the added pleasure of being recognized by the friendly host. This cottage is a true gem in the heart of Wales, offering an unparalleled blend of comfort, character, and countryside beauty. And it's not just a lovely cottage but a genuine part of a working farm, surrounded by animals and sprawling fields. The cottage maintains its comfortable and well-appointed charm, with traditional decor and exposed beams. This time again, we indulged in the jacuzzi, which proved to be an excellent choice after a day of hiking. Great garden with beautiful flowers and garden furniture to enjoy breakfast in the sun. The location of the cottage, perched on the edge of the village and overlooking the rolling hills, offers a true countryside experience, all while being conveniently located near Aberdare. It's an ideal base for exploring the stunning Brecon Beacons and venturing not too far to the beautiful Gower coastline.

Our return to this charming Welsh cottage was as enchanting as the first time, with the added pleasure of being recognized by the friendly host. It solidified our belief that this cottage is a true gem in the heart of Wales, offering an unparalleled blend of comfort, character, and countryside beauty. Despite a rainy day, we ventured to the Great Pit mine, an illuminating exploration into Wales' mining heritage, and it enriched our return visit. It's not just a lovely cottage but a genuine part of a working farm where the hospitable hosts reside, surrounded by animals and sprawling fields. The cottage maintains its comfortable and well-appointed charm, with traditional decor and exposed beams. This time again, we indulged in the superb jacuzzi, which proved to be an excellent choice after a day of hiking. The location of the cottage, perched on the edge of the village and overlooking the rolling hills, offers a true countryside experience, all while being conveniently located in Aberdare. It's an ideal base for exploring the stunning Brecon Beacons and venturing not too far to the beautiful Gower coastline. Our host, Gerwyn is a true countryman with a wealth of knowledge and character. The recognition and the personal touch in our interactions with him made our return even more special.

For two of us this is an ideal spot. Big enough not to be cramped but small enough to be cosy. Well equipped enough for all your needs in the kitchen and cosy in the lounge area. The outside space is great if the weather allows.

The walk back up the hill! Seriously, for us this is ideal and we can't really think of anything to dislike. It wont suit everyone and the sleeping arrangement seems odd to start with but you get used to it.

Perfect location and accommodation for our family get together for two nights quality family time whilst our son was over from New Zealand for a second year on the run. We were happy to be able to book the Beehive cottage again this year. Clean comfortable well equipped and the hot tub was a bonus for the evenings after a day exploring the castle in caerphilly on the first day and a walk up Fan y Big on the second day. The patio area is charming with flowerbeds sunbeds a K6 telephone box and hot tub. Hosts Debbie and Gerwyn are welcoming and friendly. Would definatley recommend this haven for a break to explore the brecon beacons and surrounding area.

nothing to dislike.

The cottage was much nicer than expected, really cosy, and very well equipped. The hot tub was glorious, and the welcome from the hosts was very warm and friendly. Sadly, we had to leave early due to a family emergency, but we would love to come back sometime.

There's nothing to dislike, really. The road up to the property is very steep and narrow, perhaps not suited to nervous drivers, and I wouldn't recommend the nearest pub, but everything with the property itself was great.

Location was perfect with a shop down the road but being on the outskirts of aberdare and being high enough that you can see the towns lights in the evening come to life. Cosy cottage that can occupy more people than we needed and Debbie was a friendly abd gracious host.

The double bed wasn't to our liking (mattress a bit firm) but thats personal preference and the only downside of the stay. (There was more than one bed to choose from though).

Fabulous views Great location for the Brecon beacons and the Gower peninsula The cottage was really well equipped and didn't need to take anything with us really The hosts were super welcoming and we were even able to buy fresh eggs from them The hot tub was an added bonus after a busy day out and really made me relaxed before bedtime

The only bad thing I found was dog poo in the grass in the garden and also cigarette butts near the bench The garden was secluded with the gate shut in honeypot cottage but it was a little awkward walking through the adjourning cottages garden to access our cottage, especially when people were in their hot tub
