A very enjoyable stay despite awful weather thanks to Lisa's warm welcome and hospitality. A very comfortable room supplied with all you need plus a lounge with wood burner made for a very pleasant stay. Excellent range of choice for breakfast with cereals, fruit, yoghurt and juice plus toast, croissants and home cooked options set us up well for the day ahead and the location is convenient for Radyr station which makes taking the train into the city centre easy.

Just the weather (we visited during Storm Darragh)! We will definitely return sometime soon to explore the things we missed this time.

Everything.! Lisa was an exceptional host, she couldn't be more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.! She gave us shortcuts to our planned activities, (saving us both time and money) and gave advice on the best places to visit and eat. The room was beautifully kept, spotless, and the beds were really comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, with a range of options, simply perfect. My granddaughter and I will definitely be going to stay there again, hopefully Christmas time this year.! Thank you Lisa. Love Leander and Seren.

There was nothing we didn't like.

Characterful lodge with oodles of charm, it hugs you with coziness which doesn’t stop until the day you leave. The Roald Dahl connection is downplayed but in the lovely lounge, bedrooms and breakfast room you will be more than inspired. You are spoiled rotten and sad to leave this lovely place. Within walking distance of Radyr station and a country pub for evening meal ( if you have room after the sumptuous breakfast) you will definitely want more than one visit.

Having to say goodbye to our hostess Lisa more like family than landlady.

We had a lovely welcome from Lisa The ambience was homely welcoming and warm. Everything was lovely and clean. And well equipped The breakfast was great and plenty of choice. Nothing was too much trouble and Lisa was very friendly.

The beds were too soft for us but its a personnel preference and the room was okay but the bathroom a bit small. Could have done with a bedside table.. It was ideal for what we wanted and would definatley stay again.

Excellent two nights stay at the Ty Mynydd Lodge. Lovely warm welcome from Lisa. Double bedroom spot on with en-suite bathroom with shower. There was plenty of storage in the bedroom, tv, coffee/tea making facility & lovely little extras - welcome personalised heart slate on the bedroom door, welsh cakes, bottled water, toiletries & dressing gowns. Plenty of choice at breakfast. Shared use of lounge area for the guests. Everywhere clean & tidy. Off road parking. Good location for the Cardiff area. Highly recommend. Hope to stay again soon. Diolch yn fawr.

The host, Lisa, couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating and runs a very professional service. She gave some great suggestions of things to do in the local area for our young family. Rooms were of an excellent size and everything was very clean. The communal lounge is also an excellent option rather than having to always be in a bedroom. Breakfast was well prepared perfect for the kids. I would highly recommend staying here.

Loved Lisa, a breath of fresh air, so adorable and accommodating. Location: a little walk down the hill to catch a train into Cardiff for sightseeing was so easy. Delicious breakfast, poached eggs the best l've eaten, well done Lisa! The largest selection of cereals you could wish for, lovely fresh fruit. Beds very comfortable. Loved the old house and it's historical association. Easy parking.

The twin room was very small, but because the beds were high, you could put your suitcases under the bed. The ensuite even smaller, but manageable. A mirror on the wall behind the door would be a suggestion.

The owner was very helpful cheerful, the breakfast was very nice.

The cleaning in the room could of been better, skirting boards behind the bed filthy, bed post dusty by floor, under shower unit dirty and shower hose, the bed squeaked every time you moved, the traffic was very noisy starting about 5am, only secondary glazed windows. The second morning the table cloth was dirty bits of toast on, not sure if same one as first day or someone else’s had sat there earlier.

Location is easy enough to find if you know what building you are looking for. Lisa is friendly and greeted us on arrival, asked both of our names and remembered them for the duration of our stay which was a nice personal touch. She gave us taxi company advice as well as advice on what to do in the area. She also gave us advice on nice places to go for dinner that evening and also let us know that the train station was a short walk away and then 15 minutes into Cardiff which we hadn't realised. We had arrived early but our room was already ready for us with a lovely welcome sign on the door with our name and "Welcome" in Welsh. The bed was so comfy, and we had dressing gowns laid out for us to use whilst we were there. The room was of ample size and had tea and coffee facilities as well as a tv connected to the internet. There was also a hair dryer and, wonderfully, a fan! The ensuite was bigger than the bedroom! We were provided with shampoo and body wash which was great as we had forgotten to bring those - no conditioner was provided but I popped out to the Coop which is only a 5 minute walk down the road to pick some up, but can't really complain as I should have brought some myself! Lisa asked us in advance what time we would want breakfast and so we came down on both mornings at that time and she came out almost immediately to greet us once we sat down. Hot food options were delicious - bacon sandwiches, eggs on toast (poached, fried, or scrambled all available), and porridge are all on offer. There is also a food station with bread, croissants, fruit, yoghurts, cereals etc. where you can help yourself, and every table has Nutella sachets, marmite sachets, butter, honey, golden syrup, chocolate syrup and BabyBels and mature cheddar cheese sticks which we enjoyed and you don't see everywhere! Overall an absolute delight. We would definitely stay again!

The building is not well signposted - so we had to pull up nearby and look up a picture on Booking.com to figure out if the satnav had indeed led us to the right building as it does look like a residential property on the face of it.
