Huge thank you to the receptionist who checked us in and helped with EV charger. Also the leisure complex team, who were super friendly and welcoming. Having only one coffee machine at breakfast made for social interaction with other guests, after all we are on holiday and time runs at a more relaxed rate. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you and it gave us exactly what we needed. A break in our journey and the start to our holiday in your fabulous pool. Thank you!

Check in was quick and easy with the young lady at reception being professional, friendly and welcoming, The room was clean, warm and comfortable with a great bed and a clean, spacious ensuite. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of cereals, toast, fruit, fruit juice, tea and coffee and cooked breakfast. All breakfast staff were also excellent. We didn't use the restaurant but had meals in the Walton's bar. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly, there was a good choice of beers, wines and spirits. Staff in the bar were again excellent. Prices were very reasonable and service was absolutely exceptional. There is also a good leisure facility including gym, sauna, swimming pool etc..

There was nothing that really could have been improved on. All staff, our room, evening meals and facilities were all top notch. If I was to be really picky, I'd say the car park is slightly small, that said, we did get parked easily enough.

The rooms are beautifully furnished and have recently been redecorated with a modern but relaxing feel. The staff were very helpful, they serve and excellent breakfast and it was nice to stretch-out tired muscles and limbs after a long days driving in the health suite.

The EV charging points in the car park are (a) very hard to use, (b) unreliable and (c) very expensive. Despite the eye watering 65p/kWh (almost twice what a TESLA supercharger costs) we decided to recharge because it was convenient to get an overnight charge. The App insisted on reserve £60 on my credit card and then the charger failed to start [saying it was connected and delivering 0 kW). After asking for help from the hotel staff and trying again another £60 was reserved and the charger still didn't work. I was told they are run by a private company and the hotel get no benefit from them. My advice to EV drivers is stay at this wonderful hotel but don't expect to charge your car!

Consistently good standard, perfect location for us to break our journey further north. We have stayed here many times.

Perhaps the only disappointment was the service in the bar for evening meal. We specifically booked early to make sure we didn’t hit the busiest time. But it was at least 40 minutes before the waitress had time to take our order for drinks, never mind food. What we should have done, was order drinks for ourselves at the bar and then gone to our table, but we were led to our table straight away by the waitress who said she would be ‘back in a minute’ to take our drinks order. Not really her fault, she was absolutely rushed off her feet. She was apologetic when she did eventually get to us.

The room was great and spotlessly clean and well presented. The bed was large and very comfortable. We were so impressed with the standard of houskeeping during our stay, we made a point of mentioning this at checkout and praising the unseen staff who did such a great job. We had breakfast each morning and ate in the bar each night and can only say that the food we had was great. The staff were friendly and welcoming and only too keen to help. Having free access to the liesure facilities (pool, sauna and fitness etc.) was a big plus as at other hotels there has been additional charge and/or time restrictions. The local rail station was located very close to the hotel (5mins walk) so we decided to leave the car behind and travelled into Carlisle which took only 8 minutes. The hotels location makes it a great base from which to explore the surounding area and we will certainly be visiting again.

Happy with everything

Most things, staff, food, facilities were as always very good. The bedroom we were assigned was in a separate annex and to a good standard. Because it was an annex we had to put on our travel clothes and go out into the cold to walk to the main hotel to get to the restaurant for breakfast - this was OK for us because we were only staying one night and going out straight after breakfast, so having to don warm travel clothes was no big deal. However, if we had been staying for more than one night we might have preferred a room in the main hotel.

Stayed at this hotel on and off over the last 20 years, nice quiet village location with local walks by the river and only 30 minutes from the Lake District. Recent refurbishment has been tastefully completed.

We have been visiting this hotel for many years now having family that live in the area. The surrounding area is stunning and very close to Carlisle centre. Small train station 1 min walk away to take you straight in. Gardens to relax in and 5 mins walk to gorgeous river. Staff are attentive and polite. Good food and a nice relaxing lounge area.

The hotel has become very corporate and has lost all the old charm of this beautiful old coach house Grey everywhere..walls windows... carpets...wardrobes doors ....everything! This has made the hotel look cheap and not at all in character with the building or the area. The restaurant still has the old tables and chairs but now doesn't look right with the grey walls making it look a bit of a mess really. Such a shame. Give the hotel a bit of class which it rightly deserves.

The staff were all really friendly and helpful (except one really grumpy guy at breakfast who didn’t tell us our options or guide us to where we could sit) very smiley and nothing seemed to much trouble. Lovely location only wished we hadn’t been stuck in traffic on the M6 meaning we didn’t really get to enjoy the location before our onward journey. The room was spacious for us and our dogs - thoughtful touches like food/water bowls and dog baskets so we could put their own bedding into. We had a view over car park which wasn’t anything special but fine. The food we had was good - choice a bit limited but will comment later on that. The restaurant for breakfast was nice - felt like we were sitting in a garden. Overall a great stopover for us. We would def book again Thank you

The grumpy man at breakfast let the staff down. All were really lovely and helpful except him. Due to his lack of guidance we didn’t realise we could have ordered a vegan breakfast. Once we did realise we had already made do from the limited buffet selection available. We’re not vegan but one of us is lactose intolerant and one allergic to eggs and neither of us eat meat. The menu in the bar was also very limited for choices bearing in mind the dietary requirements above. That is really the only issue. We struggled to park on arrival due to a wedding and people using gym? But the only advantage to arriving late was someone was leaving! These things wouldn’t deter us from returning

We were upgraded to the Warwickholme suite which was still not worth the money. Would have been happy paying £80 a night for this suite. The leisure facilities were stunning and the breakfast was delicious although we had to wait for scrambled egg after making toast.

Room could be brought more up to date with USB ports, better WiFi etc. and the pink plastic cups in the bathroom were a bit tacky. In fact it was quite dated and in need of modernisation. The food in the restaurant was not worth the money at all and I would recommend eating elsewhere. I paid £137 for one night as it was the last room which was not worth the money.
