Bright sunny room, good parking, huge bathroom really comfortable, lovely shower, comfortable beds, nice views, beautiful countryside, good beer, nice atmosphere in bar, excellent breakfast, delicious food with a menu much more interesting than often found, the chef/owner is very good indeed, and very friendly staff. Would love to come and stay again - next time for more than one night.

Waited quite a while between ordering and being served dinner - but it was really lovely when it came and worth the wait - beautifully cooked and flavoured. If waiting staff had told us it would be a while we wouldn't have sat wondering! The chef explained the delay later. But this was a small thing in a super stay.

There was nothing not to like. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and we had everything we needed. The staff were excellent - friendly, obliging, funny and were always on hand to help. The food was amazing - wonderful full English breakfast and brilliant evening meal. The views were fantastic and Hadrian's wall was just down the road. It was peaceful and quiet apart from the odd piece of farm traffic and the odd car. My wife and I booked the room as an overnight stopover on the way to Scotland. We also booked it for the return journey. We enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra night. We are also considering going back sometime for a weeks stay with a view to exploring the many interesting places in the area. Very good value for money. Attached are two views from our bedroom window.

There were one or two things in the rooms that could be better but those things did not spoil our stay in any way. Other than that there wasn't anything we didn't like. You would be very hard to please if you found much you didn't like.

The host was just fabulous, we only booked as we were travelling, phoned to see if food would be available, the host took our order over the phone, as the restaurant was due to be closed by the time we arrived, had the food ready for us a few minutes after our arrival, and what fabulous food it was! just a shame the place was closed on the day of our return south. Will definitely be staying again if we travel that way

Some quite noisy water pipe work could disturb some guests. A bit of a trek from the M6, which may be negative for some, although we loved the quiet, remotenesses of the location.

Wow! What a little gem of an Inn. Lost on a crossroads (hence the name, I guess!) in what seems the middle of nowhere, this idyllic little locals' country pub has been expanded to include a boutique hotel (I think with only 3 or 4 rooms but don't quote me) coupled with a fabulous restaurant. The owner is the landlord and the chef. And boy can he cook!! We only stayed one night but we had an evening meal there and breakfast and both were fantastic. I had the best belly pork I've ever eaten anywhere and a full english breakfast to rival any I've had in my 45 years on the planet. The pork was apparently from a hand-reared pig raised by the landlord. My partner had scampi which was the best she'd ever had, too, and also enjoyed a similar breakfast. The pub served every drink we wanted and the staff were all friendly and welcoming. The pub itself seems to be a social hub of local folk, and the bar was busy late into the night. A 6 foot pool table drew a lot of attention and me being a pool lover, and the table being winner stays on, I played a lot of games. The table was true and decent and the local competition was not lacking in skill. I had a very enjoyable evening and for the most part, the other patrons made my partner feel welcome while I hogged the pool table. The grounds are lovely - a large lawn at the back with 3 picnic benches that offer open seating or privacy as you prefer, and some lovely flowers, flanked by cow fields and farmland. The sunset was beautiful and the establishment looks to have added an outdoor covered seating area during covid which now offers beautiful views of the aforementioned sunset for evening diners. There is plenty of parking across the road and 'private' parking for hotel guests which meant we didnt need to log our suitcases across the road.

I don't have a bad word to say about the place.

Exceptionally friendly staff who couldn't do enough to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The service was amazing and not only was the evening meal very good but the breakfast was the best we've experienced. A big thankyou to Andy and all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable. I would thoroughly recommend the Crossings. It's an excellent location to break your journey headed north, or even south for that matter.

My only constructive comment would be to extend the WiFi range to the room. It seems OK everywhere else but just didn't make it to our room. Not a big problem but just an extra convenience.

from the outside, it looks like a normal country pub, and that’s the feel you get inside with the decor in the main area however, what made our stay so special, and what really stands out, is the super friendly and helpful staff who went out of their way to help us with anything we needed and the excellent standard of meal and breakfast! We had a 4am start driving up to Carlisle and arrived lunchtime. We had previously been told that we could get into our room at approx 4.30pm. Having spent time in a coffee shop we were both shattered and just drove to find the Inn, hoping we would just be allowed to sit in the gardens… Liz (superstar!) was so friendly and accommodating. We were offered a hot drink and to sit in the garden while she checked our room. We were so lucky that the room was ready. It was spacious and super clean with lovely quality bedding with a ‘freshly washed’ smell (not usually the case!) We were lucky to have the use of a private lounge with sofas and TV attached to the room which was so lovely to relax in! we had booked in for an evening meal and were expecting the usual pub grub, but instead received a top notch restaurant/bistro type meal! Absolutely delicious, cooked by Steve the owner! boy can he cook! Everyone working at the pub is kind and very friendly and there was a great atmosphere in the bar. We felt like we knew everyone! lol We spent one great night here, but we will definitely be back to stay for longer next time, as it’s ideally situated to visit so many areas, and to return to the peaceful, area that surrounds the pub!! Thank you, Liz and Steve for your kindness shown to us!! xx

This was our second stay here, & we love it, we added an extra night as it is in such beautiful countryside & we wanted to explore a little. We had The Crown room, which was really airy & quite cool, even during the recent hot spell. The bed was very comfortable & the shower was one of the best I've ever used. The food was excellent, with a menu that was varied & interesting. Steve, the owner, who is also the chef is friendly & attentive, has a good sense of humour. Liz, who cooked our breakfasts, is absolutely lovely. She has a good knowledge of the area as she lives locally, & was able to recommend places to visit in the vicinity. She's great to talk to, very welcoming & helpful & cooks the best fried bread I've ever had!! The pub itself has a bar area that is comfortable & popular with the locals. Everyone is friendly & it's just a lovely place.

The bedroom was well equipped and comfortable and all the staff were extremely helpful and friendly during our stay. The food was to die for and there was a good selection of reasonably priced beer and wine. We dined in the bar as we had a small dog and enjoyed the convivial atmosphere. The Crossings is located in the middle of tranquil countryside which was great for walking the dog. We had a very enjoyable stay.

Nothing.
