Beautiful location and front garden - able to park at rear to unpack car then move it to designated space Lots of great toys , books and games to play with - the Jenga doubled up as a road for the cars - so much thought put into cottage being family friendly ❤️

Perhaps leave small supply of wood and firelighters for visitors arriving late or state on advertisement to bring matches & fire fuel ❤️

Ceilidh Cottage (pronounced Kay-Lee) is a lovely cottage Quiet location in a small village Play park a short walk away Nice pub a short walk away Short drive into York centre Regular bus service available locally Private parking for a small car On road parking for larger vehicles Spacious bedrooms Warm on arrival (we visited in stormy January) Equipped with everything needed for a short stay Comfortable beds/sofa Friendly, responsive owners

Attic bedroom door would benefit from a little oil on the hinges

Property is located in a lovely rural village. Ripon and York very close by and loads of National Trust properties which was fun for us!

There is a parking spot at the back of the property which is good for a small car, if like mine you have a big car you need to park out the front but have to hope all spots aren’t taken. If this has happened, you can park just down from the cottage but will have to walk.

We liked everything to do with the property , finding it exceptionally clean , fully equipped , cosy and quirky. Our hosts Gary and Lucy left leaflets containing all the local information we could possibly need as well as contact numbers should we encounter any problems. They also visited (unfortunately we were out touring countryside) to ensure all was fine and we found our them to be extremely engaging and enthusiastic to make our stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. We found the village to be quaint ,quiet, safe and the local people to be welcoming. All in all a very nice property , area , local population and hosts (what else do you want ) ?

Leaving cottage and area .

The cottage was beautifully presented, lots of lovely homely touches and all the character of a 19th century cottage; with the obvious sympathetic modernisation. The hosts were very friendly, along with the lovely family next door, and the garden became our outdoor lounge/dining room for the week as it was so beautiful and relaxing out there.

Only thing we didn't like was that we had only booked for 4 nights - we really wished we'd booked for longer. We did wonder why the fridge freezer was behind the door, not opted for under counter ones in the space that is available, as it was a little awkward being behind the door.

We stayed from the Tuesday to Friday. This was perfectly quiet and relaxing. The cottage is very welcoming, cosy and comfortable. Very clean and had everything we needed. Towels and bedding were supplied and everything we needed in the kitchen if we had wanted to cook. We were able to make use of the garden as the weather was very hot. It is very private which was really nice and the close neighbours were friendly.

We liked everything about the cottage. We liked that it was only 12 miles away from York and that there was a good bus service through the village if you didn’t want to drive. The owners of the cottage were close by if we needed any assistance but they had everything covered so this was not required. It maybe would have been handy to have access to a village shop but we had to go to the nearby village either way to get access to this.

It was a very well equipped home from home. The beds were really comfy, the living room was cosy, the kitchen had everything we were looking for and we were delighted to find an apple tree in the front garden with a table and chairs for breakfast outside. The scenery out the windows was picturesque and a fab little park was 5 minutes along the road. We even found a book swap inside an old phone box. It’s like a little house from a story, just perfect.

We didn’t realise the stairs were quite so steep but it didn’t have an effect on our ability to use them safely.

Everything, the location (20-minute drive to a park and ride, which took you right into York Town centre) the welcome note with helpful information, it was clean, and we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The park was a 3 minute walk away and was great for all ages to run off any extra energy. Highly recommend for families or even couples.

The cottage had everything we needed for travelling with small children. The location is good - a nice quiet village with a good pub, within easy reach of York and the Dale's. Really helpful hosts, provided loads of useful information on the local area.

The stairs might be a bit steep for people with mobility impairments or very small children, though a stairs gate was provided for safety and we did not find this a problem ourselves.

The accommodation was warm and very clean and inviting.Lots of hot water.

The stairs were unusually steep and narrow especially so on the second flight to the twin bedroom. This could create difficulties for the less able or agile. Unfortunately there does not appear to be any reference to this in the property description.
