Everything. In short it is the Jewel of Yorkshire. We are already planning our next stay. To stay in a stately home which was Princess Mary’s home and still the family home of the current owners felt like a real privilege. We stayed in Plumpton room which was lovely with a beautiful view of the garden and French doors to a little terrace. Comfortable bed and good deep bath with lashings of hot water. From our arrival until departure we were greeted so warmly with lovely helpful staff. The Christmas decorations are stunning and the panelled library at night was our favourite room with a welcoming roaring open fire and twinkly lights. I could just imagine King George and Queen Mary gathered around the Christmas tree here back in the Victorian times. The drawing room was also beautiful, again with a roaring fire. Family photos dotted around was a lovely touch. Peeked in the dining room although didn’t eat here this time and it was stunning. Like something from Downton Abbey. Beautiful landscaped and immaculate grounds and we found the Royal private gate to the local church as used back in the day.
Having to leave !!

A gorgeous manor house converted into a beautiful hotel in a quiet village. The hotel is larger than it seems with a wonderful library and drawing room in which to relax. The breakfast room is in a lovely, airy conservatory connecting two buildings and the breakfast was good (especially if you need plenty of protein!). I didn't dine at the hotel, but the dining room looked very welcoming and cosy. I had what was advertised as a "small" room, but it was still a very good size with plenty of space and very well equipped - good coffee machine, modern air conditioning and a big TV. I saw some of the other "larger" bedrooms whilst the doors were open and they looked lovely - very spacious and luxurious. There was also some delicious shortbread in the room which was a nice treat!
Breakfast didn't start until 8am which was a bit tight for me to get to my first appointment, but only a minor quibble.

A beautiful period property tucked away in a lovely village amidst glorious grounds. The staff were all friendly, helpful and very professional from the moment Dawn called pre-visit to check on our needs to the check in process and breakfast. On this occasion we didn’t dine at the hotel in the evening for their signature 7 course taster menu choosing to eat at the nearby and very walkable Bay Horse (sister company) which was excellent. We did enjoy the excellent breakfast served in the lovely orangery with its great views of the gardens. Our thanks to all and in particular Dawn for a wonderful relaxing two night break.
A bit of attention is required at the rear base of the bathroom basins in the Hutton Suite. The reflection in the mirror is a little off putting and belies the overall very clean facilities. Also, the room does not have a vanity unit making it a challenge for my wife to do her make up. The bathroom does not lend itself for this either with limited shelf storage upon which to place anything other than basic essentials. That said, overall the room was splendid and very quiet l adding to an excellent nights sleep.

The setting of the a hall was superb and our room was comfortable and clean with all amenities. The breakfast staff went out of their way to refill items for the buffet. Thank you.
As we were there for a lunch party it would have been nice to have access to our room before attending the party. After our party lunch we didn’t require a large dinner in the evening (only the 6 course tasting menu was available) however we were unable to order room service snacks after 5 pm and the local pub didn’t serve bar snacks or evening meals on Sundays. We went to bed feeling hungry! In future an evening room service would be useful.

Gardens, friendly helpful staff, fresh milk in minibar, instant hot water digital shower. Great base to visit Harlow Carr, Newby Hall, Himalayn Gardens, Harewood house, Harorgate, Knaresborough, Ripon, Leeds etc
No lift in our part of the building and we had no view other than a rooftop ad scaffolding. Took a while to master the A/c No magnifying mirror, nor bathroom slippers Restaurant closed some days an only offers a Michelin quality tasting menu - the local (related) pub is a short walk away and offers a decent selection of food and ales and has lovely staff.

The house was a country manor house operated as a bed & breakfast. The room size was very large, with a four poster bed and a large attached bathroom. The grounds were beautifully landscaped with many traditional English plants and flowers. The breakfast was very good.
We were there Tuesday night and could not experience the dinner. We did have a nice meal at the Bay Horse Inn.

The staff are lovely and welcoming. The building itself inside and out is beautiful. The rooms are tidy and spacious with very comfy beds. Nice clean bathrooms too. The grounds are a beautiful walk around. Easy to get to places around, such as the town, while still being quiet. Absolutely amazing stay 10/10 would reccomend.
Nothing :)

The location is STUNNING and the private owners (who live on site) have thought very carefully throw every aspect . It is an enormous privilege to stay in such a historic - royal connected - country estate house

The hotel is lovely - great setting, wonderful gardens and lovely staff
The price. It charges 5 star prices, but is not quite 5 star (it’s the small things - a carpet not properly set down, queuing for 10 minutes to pick up our key whilst people paid for tea, running out of Armagnac). It’s a lovely place to stay, but it is a little pricey.

Very impressive old country house with Royal history. Gardens are fantastically maintained. As is the amazing kitchen garden.
Sadly whilst the property has a period restaurant we didn’t get to sit there. Restaurant was closed Monday evening and breakfast served in conservatory next morning. We paid twice the price for breakfast that residents of the sister hotel who ate with us paid. Odd. Why not sit Hall residents in restaurant to justify double price for same food?
