Y Giler Arms is one of those unexpected gems. Totally underrated, I think when it comes to location. I loved that it was close to all the things I wanted to explore (the LLyn Brening Osprey Hide and Snowdonia National Park in particular). The hotel itself is set back from the main road so it is very quiet, and my room had a view over a small pond (with its own grey heron) and the Welsh countryside. There is plenty of parking and a small campground out the back for those not wanting to stay inside the house. The hotel itself is made of two older cottages with some newer buildings added on. The single room was rather spacious (by single room standards), and only the bathroom was a tad small but worked for me (although it might be a bit tricky for some larger people as one has to slide under the sink onto the toilet ...lol). I had one evening meal there, and it was very tasty and staff/owners were super, super friendly, helpful and downright nice. Also, I loved listening to Welsh being spoken by the staff and local patrons (even though I do not understand it).

I really loved everything, but as a side note for people who may be a bit larger, the bathroom in the single room is a tad small.

Room 6 is on the small side but provided everything we needed. It was very clean with a comfy bed and had excellent views from the windows. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, we didn't have breakfast but we did have an evening meal and would highly recommend it. There is a wide choice of food, and the steak was cooked perfectly. Jordan, who was looking after us, was rushed off her feet but still served us with a smile. The Y Giler Arms is tucked up off the main road, so we were happy leaving the bike here for the night.

Nothing, all good

Everything was as expected - I have stayed here in Room 4 previously and never been disappointed. Room and bathroom have been recently updated and are pleasantly decorated. WiFi was first class with good speed.

Not really a dislike but it was noted that there was a sticky stain on the carpet in the room in front of the dressing table where the coffee?tea making facilities are located -I suspect either tea or coffee has been spilt by a previous guest and spot cleaning is required.

The location was delightful. View from window beautiful. Convenience for Bettws y Coed etc ideal.

This excellent place should remove itself from the ‘dog friendly’ listing. The fact that dogs are accepted into the bar only does not help people travelling with their pet who need to take it into their room. I originally booked because of their ‘dog friendly’ listing but just before departure I found a complaint on line about the above and fortunately was able to leave my dog with friends after all.

Hotel set in a nice location with lots of grounds to explore with good views across the countryside. The property was clean and tidy. Staff all pleasant just wanting to please. Food was good always busy not just with guest. Restaurant popular with the locals and surrounding area. The room was clean complimentary items well stocked and replenished. I had a single room it was small but more than enough room with all the expected items in good order although I felt the bed sloped sideways, when laying down to sleep. If I were that way again would go back enjoyed my stay, there felt welcomed.

We stayed just one night and ate in the restaurant. The food was decent pub food . The room was basic but overall clean.

My husband's banoffi pie appeared to have been defrosted in the microwave. There was ice on the top of it and warm in the middle. My niece had hairs in her shower so refused to use it.

Very relaxed, staff were amazing, even though it was a VW meeting weekend we had a ball. Walked the Alwen Dam and then relaxed at the hotel. Parking was free (which makes a change) food was lovely and Rebecca went above and beyond. Even though the rooms are small, the attention to detail made the stay that little bit special. Will definitely be staying there again, and maybe even attempt the 9 mile walk 😬

The aching limbs.

Y Giler Arms is lovely place to stay to experience the many attractions in the surrounding area. The rooms were recently renovated to a high standard and was extremely clean. My room had all the amenities you could need to have a comfortable stay, plus brilliant views of the surrounding scenery. Friendly hosts and great bar & restaurant etc means you can enjoy your stay. Great value, nice food etc.

Couldn't fault anything with my (albeit short) stay at Y Giler Arms. Not a complaint but keep in mind that the bar stays open into the late evening so a bit of noise is to be expected.

Great location! Very friendly staff and service with a smile! Food was good. Nice hot shower.

The mattress on the bed was very well used and not particularly comfortable. The single room was next to the room with the water cylinder and water pump so was quite loud till last orders.

On arrival could not have a shower as water cold. But in the morning no problem lovely.
