Great value and convenient location. Lots of car parking space and friendly staff. Liked the late night bar which was reasonably priced. Room for 2 adults and 2 kids (pull out sofa bed) and still had enough space to move around

Paying for car parking given location (out of town) and screen to pay in foyer of hotel - didn't realise I could pay the reduced price if I just went to reception so could be better signposted eg if staying at hotel, lease go straight to reception to pay for car park Greater vegetarian breakfast menu (eg vegetarian sausage, bacon etc.) would be my only comment but a good selection of continental breakfast items

Great to have a restaurant and small bar. Being single and on my own meant you didn’t have to go out at night in the dark. Great breakfast. Rooms clean and warm.

Just one small thing - when you sit on your own to eat in the restaurant a small card in the wooden sauce box with ‘Table Occupied’ would be great. Even though I had set my table with clean knife, fork and spoon etc, even left my room card, when I went for my breakfast by the time I got back to my table EVERYTHING had gone off the table - including my room card!! It’s embarrassing then to have to make a fuss to sort it out. Such a small thing to ask for but great for someone on their own. Thank you.

Great hotel in a good location. Very welcoming to the dog (although there is an additional fee to take pets), and was given a goody bag containing a treat for the dog and a couple of poo bags! Breakfast was very good, even though the restaurant seemed to be full both mornings, and there was certainly no shortage of food. Bed was super comfortable and the room extremely clean

Although they welcome pets, there is very little outside area to walk the dog to carry out its necessary "jobs". The only area we could find that wasn't tarmac or paved parking was round the back of the building which seemed to be a bit of a dumping ground, including broken glass.

Excellent room well stocked & very clean It was very quiet during the night & the bed was very comfortable This room (11) would be good for families as it looked like there was a connecting room if having children with you Breakfast was an excellent addition to the rate as it included hot dishes, good variety of cereals, fruit, continental choices and toast making facilities. Good choice of coffee's ready to make in a machine

The meals in the evening are limited but there is a good choice of restaurants in the surrounding area very close by the hotel. We just needed a snack so my Husband had a cheese & ham toastie which he enjoyed but I had cheese straws which came with a sweet chilli dip (which I did have to go & ask for!) they looked shriveled up in a dish not very presentable & were the same price as the toastie (no comparison!!) The other reason why I have marked down is the receptionist could of been a bit more friendly I was testing by asking her what needed to be filled in on the registration which really should of been explained when handing over the form but instead I felt a sarcastic reply.

Breakfast was excellent. Liked the way the breakfast bar was played out. Would have liked small paper cups available to put the marmalade in, but that is being picked. Little disappointed there was no evening restaurant, we are diabetics and need to eat at regular times. Fortunately there were plenty of places to eat around the area, or this could have been a problem. On the bright side the stay was pleasant, and the staff were excellent.

No evening restaurant

The room was lovely and clean, and the hotel was surrounded by food venues so it was easy to find somewhere to eat. The staff on reception were helpful and wifi was included. We were given a little bag with a few treats, a ball and poo bags for the dog.

We had to pay for parking in addition to the cost of our room. As we bought a pet with us, we were charged a "non refundable deposit" for our dog. Please be honest and call it what it is - it is a charge A deposit suggests that it will be refunded. £25 for one night was a little excessive - the dog cost more to stay that the humans (on a per head basis). Breakfast was plentiful, but a little limited in choices and sausages were slightly overcooked.

Overall facilities, location and parking was good. Staff helpful. Plenty of options for breakfast.

I turned the air con off as we didn’t want to sleep with a constant hum. However despite it being off regularly throughout the night it would make a loud noise. We have stayed at this hotel before and never had this issue. It therefore meant that both me and my daughter had a sleepless night. I also found the English breakfast disappointing as no hash browns, mushrooms or a tomato. What was served was nice but just not what usually expect when hoping to enjoy a special breakfast.

Room was very comfortable and clean. Bed comfortable. The shower was good, plenty of hot water. Excellent tea and coffee facilities. Surprised that there was an iron and ironing board in the room. Didn't use it during our 1 night, but may do for a longer stay. The breakfast menu was very good. Food was lovely.

The hotel location was not ideal for an evening walk. A little remote. If we were there longer and at a different time of year, then we may have felt more confident for a stroll in the evening in the daylight. The menu in the evening was a bit limited. My husband doesn't like cheese, so it was limited to find something to eat. He enjoyed the chicken curry, so all was okay.

It’s was very clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and helpful you could tell they work very hard. The room and bed was very comfortable. This was our 2nd stay here and we would defiantly stay again.

The only criticism I have is there is an awful smell of drains coming from the bathroom sink it would really do with some cleaner down it. Made brushing our teeth not a very nice experience. Also the water took ages to drain from the shower.

Location was very difficult to find, not helped by the road works taking place in Derby. There are few signposts and no signs to point to the hotel. Even the road sign (we noticed later) telling you it was "Wheelwright Way," where the hotel was situated, had been painted the same colour as the background ( redish brown) so was invisible. It took us an hour to find the hotel having arrived in Derby. Even our satnav gave up. This is not a criticism of Holiday Inn but of Derby Council, although the hotel could have helped with some strategic signage.
