The High Flyer is in an ideal location, about 100yds from the centre of Ely, and has ample free parking. The rooms are a little small, but are perfectly comfortable although they do become warm on sunny days. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the service is good. The food choice is really good too, but make sure you are hungry because the portions are well above average! If you try their homemade onion rings, I suggest you only have one portion between two because!

At times the bathroom did smell stale, slightly of drains. Like I said above, the rooms can become very warm on sunny days as the windows face southeast and catch the sun. The windows only open a small amount so you will need the supplied fan to try and move air around.

Well located, within an easy walk of shops, river etc. The Manager, Jan, & his team made us feel welcome throughout our stay. Breakfast both mornings, lunch on day 1 & evening meal on day 2 were all very good. Whilst the breakfast selection on the menu is quite limited, the Manager & chef catered for our individual requests which was great for us. (A minor issue with the eggs one morning was resolved very quickly). Our room & facilities were more than adequate for our needs. We especially liked the selection of individual bottles of toiletries available to use, in addition to the teas & coffee selection.

We felt that the bathrooms, in particular, could have been cleaner. All the basics were fine but the bottom of the shower frame in our room was a bit grubby. However, this did not impact on our stay & we didn’t feel he need to raise it at the time.

Was very easy to get to and close to the high street with restaurants/shops. The staff member who checked me in was helpful and kind, and the staff member who served me breakfast the next day was great too. The room had an extremely comfy bed and perfect shower. The hotel was very quiet and I was uninterrupted by any noise.

My only criticism is the keys to the room were a bit of a fiddle. Thought I had locked the door but it took a moment to make sure it was locked. Also, there wasn’t any bottled water in the room but that wasn’t a bother really as I had my own.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a small issue and the manager communicated this to us before we arrived and offered a few ways to solve it. In the end the problem was solved before we arrived. Really great customer service!! The room was comfortable and stocked with tea, coffee and biscuits. The location is great and the parking was very easy.

the stay itself at the high flyer was good , fab location, the place is lovely , great room , lovely decor, comfy bed, couldnt fault the property . the front staff were warm and welcoming .

we dined in the restaurant in the evening , we were sitting opposite the kitchen hatch , i watched the chef making my chicken burger after putting the mayo on , he licked the spoon , then put the guacamole on , he licked that spoon , really hope it was two separate spoons. he then put the fries in the container and started to eat a few of them . i wanted to say something at the time but we were staying there . For this reason i marked down on the High Flyer. shame cause i would have put 10/10 if it wasnt for the hungry chef ! the next morning we went and had breakfast in Ely just incase same chef was on .

The room was very modern, stylish, comfortable and clean, with an enormous TV! Staff were very good. There was no noise from downstairs or the street. Parking was free and very close to the hotel.

We didn't have breakfast as there was no option for a typical hotel breakfast choices such as cereal, toast etc, only a full English breakfast or a brunch type meal. There was a keypad lock on the door up to the rooms, but every time we came back to the hotel, this door had been left open.

Really delightful place. Just outside the centre of the city so perfect for sightseeing, especially the Cathedral. Very pleasant, helpful and friendly staff made the stay a pleasure. The rooms are bright, cheery and well furnished. Athough the rooms are over a busy noisy bar/restaurant there no noise in the rooms. There is no breakfast service but any number of cafes are open in town to cater. I would happily stay there again. Car parking on site is limited but just to the rear is a large car park with free long stay parking.

It was in a central location just a short walk from the high street and cathedral. The room was clean and light and the bed was very comfortable. There were lots of tea, coffee and hot chocolate sachets which was welcome after a long journey!

The shower had no power so it took ages to rinse soap and shampoo off. I found it hard to lock my room door on the outside. I couldn’t get breakfast in the hotel at 8.30am as everything was closed up downstairs with no staff around to explain why.

Breakfast was exceptional, despite not getting the sourdough bread on the first attempt....quickly rectified. Room was small but beautifully clean and comfortable, with some lovely touches. Staff very helpful though could do with being allocated specific job roles, there was a little overlap leading to a chaotic feel on registration. Bar and Restuarant lovely, and outside seating area is lovely. Bed super comfy!

No checks that the room had plenty of milk to go with the plentiful supply of tea and coffee. Shower was a little temperamental in room 2. 3/4 size beds in all rooms, except room 1 - thought this would be a problem as we are not small people but bed was so comfortable it was not a porblem!

Location was excellent. 3-4 minute walk to Market Square (going via Waitrose). Also able to park and leave the car in their car park for the duration of our stay. We decided to eat at the High Flyer both evenings and the food was really good. Excellent home made pie! And the staff were lovely and friendly.

When we arrived we were told that breakfast was served from 10am (when we booked it was just for the room). As we wanted to be out and about before then we ate breakfast elsewhere. Not too much of a problem but it would've been good to have the option.
