Friendly, efficient reception, nice room. Clean and tidy residents part of hotel. Huge bathroom! Free parking close to hotel. Excellent location for city and visiting family.

Traffic noise all night. Breakfast cooked to order- slow service. Complicated parking arrangements. Could have done with more information in advance about parking including location. The satnav address is on the street at the front of the hotel with no parking. You have to find your way round the back of the hotel where at least the free public car park (subject to certain rules) is adjacent to the back of the hotel.

Me, my wife and her Aunt stayed a couple of week days at this lovely centre Pub in Ely. The room we had on the top floor was lovely with a super king-size bed which was very comfy. The Staff were excellent very friendly, attentive and very polite nothing was too much trouble. The owner Mike was again, very friendly and approachable. We had an evening meal and breakfast each morning with a very extensive choice instead of just a full English. The food was exceptional both at breakfast and evening meal. The pub itself had a real nice decor with a mix of old and new styles with again a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Behind the Pub is a huge public car park which is free to park but parking times do have to be observed as there is short stay and long stay parking but the pub staff will explain the full workings of it. The three of us had a lovely two night stay and both rooms were very comfortable. The present owner hasn't had the venue long and is still getting it up to the standard he requires. All in all a very enjoyable stay and if we go to Ely again the Royal Standard is where we will stay... Thankyou Mike to you and your Staff. John and Jo....

Lovely, slightly quirky room with a great bathroom. If you like steak, I recommend eating in the pub - good food and the breakfast was excellent. There is a convenient path via the rear outdoors seating area that leads straight to the public car park at the rear.

There is no dedicated parking - car parking isn't simple as, due to the time restrictions, a vehicle needs to be moved from one location in the public car park to another in order to remain eligible to stay. The pub is popular so don't come if you crave peace and quiet. Access to rooms is via stairs, so avoid heavy luggage. Room itself was fine - limited space as the bed was huge.

Everything about this accommodation was perfect. So from the moment we checked in, the staff were so friendly and professional in welcoming you. The accommodation was spotless and comfortable, especially the bed and pillows. Lovely facilities in the room - huge bathroom and great bed, lighting and teas and coffee making facilities. Great usb charging points too. Wifi was brilliant speed. The bar downstairs was great and the bar manager was exceptionally kind and clearly loves his job. Breakfast choice was great too. The location was perfect. Will definitely come ack again!!!

The room was a small double, so it was compact but very comfortable indeed. Good choice of main courses on the dinner menu. Our meal took a while to arrive but was very good when it did. We enjoyed our meal and the service was always attentive. Breakfast (included) was also very good.

More information about car-parking at the time of booking would have been helpful. I.e. parking is available in the short stay car park (free) at the rear of the hotel which is accessed from a different road. It took us a while to work that out and find it, after two circuits of Ely's one-way system.

The room was lovely and comfortable, Just what we were after, the location was excellent. Easy to walk to bars and restaurants. The street was busy and loud, we didn't realise we had visited Ely on the weekend if the beer festival. We didn't mind so much though as we just wanted some space away from home together. Had a lovely relaxing bath, lovely and warm in the room (although it may get stifling in the summer!) The staff were very nice and the breakfast was very good. We decided to see the cathedral just a few minutes up the hill, then down the hill for the small harbor and to the lovely Peacocks tearoom. ( the menu for tea's is extensive, if you like tea and cake, go there!) On top of all of that we managed to get free parking. Free for a certain amount of time (behind the pub/hotel) then free on Sunday and we arrived Saturday evening, so worked out well. Although the signs are a little confusing, so if you arrived on a different day I'm not sure how to work out if and how you would pay.

The road was very busy and being an old building the windows did not mask much of the sound, but we were right in the centre and close to everything, a compromise we were willing to accept. (especially as the building and the room had a lovely old charm to it) One thing I would mention, (I was 33 weeks pregnant so this could just be me being clumsy) the top steps on the 1st floor are at a funny angle, due again to being an old building, the carpet seems to camouflage the steps welI, and at least twice I slipped or missed a step, but had a good hold on the banister. Cue husband panicking! No injuries though!

Lovely old building, tastefully modernised but retaining unique features like the old bread oven near the bar. Very friendly and helpful staff, quickly changed our bed arrangement on arrival. The full English breakfast was the best ever, with home made spicy black pudding to die for 😉

Shower floor not non slip but staff said a non slip mat was available on request; better to have it in the room methinks 🙄 Toilet seat fixing loose but I find this is common nowadays with plastic lightweight seats as opposed to older traditional types. Heavy lorries passing the building can be noisy and the building shakes, but not really an issue.

Holly's welcome was naturally friendly and so, er, welcoming! Throughout our stay nothing was too much trouble. Slightly quirky room (Room 5 in the eves) and the slightly quirky route to get to it! Bedding and furnishings excellent quality, bathroom equally good.

Not really anything. Ceiling over the shower would benefit from a little attention, perhaps.

Lovely full English. Friend is gluten intolerant and they catered for her needs very well.

There was a mix up over the room we paid for, and the one we got. It all got sorted out and I was reimbursed a week or so later. Receptionist did all she could to sort it all for us. Parking was out the back with long and short stay parking, unfortunately we parked in the short stay so had to move the car twice.

Breakfast was a full English or a selection from it - also toast and marmalade nicely done and plenty of tea. The room was comfortable and had plenty of room for our needs - the ensuite bathroom was spacious with plenty of hot water readily available. We had dinner out in Ely both nights we were there so cannot comment on the in-house dinner.

We found the noise from the traffic in front of the hotel ended late and started early - but did not disturb our sleep unduly.
