The cooked breakfast was large, tasty and hot. Waitress was friendly, prompt and very helful. Our room was larger then expected, huge comfy bed and bathroom with bath and a shower cubicle. We had dinner one night and the portions were generous and reasonably priced.

Being an old building there are alot of steps but the hotel staff were very understanding and gave me a room on the lower floor. The walk in shower that I asked for was a little high to step into but I managed and the shower was very good. The street was busier than I had expected but the hotel is in the centre of town. I wear ear plugs at night so it was fine.

Prepaid, we were welcomed on arrival and reception knew of our booking and room requirements,I was helped with taking suitcase upstairs. Room was adequately furnished with very good wall tv and a modern en suite shower/bathroom with hot water on tap. Tea making facilities. Bar service was friendly and efficient-on a tab- and we enjoyed lively craic with the local clients as we watched the football on screens. Tasty supper from varied menu. Excellent scrambled eggs and bacon breakfast to order served quickly with hot coffee; bill (unitemised )was ready at check-out. Free street parking adjacent at rear of the hotel. Unpretentious but VG value for a one night stay.

My mattress was too soft which didnt help my bad back or to sleep well but bedroom was warm and comfortable otherwise. entrances at front and rear are not very impressive and poorly lit.

Our room was lovely- bed was very comfortable and the menu in room enticed us to head downstairs for dinner. The food was phenomenal, and we loved the bonus touch of it being a pet-friendly pub (a rarity in Canada) and being able to see locals and their lovely dogs. Unfortunately we missed out on breakfast both mornings due to adjusting to time change (our fault not the hotel's, the window of time was generous, we just woke up closer to lunch), but I trust it was delicious.

It is in the centre of Kelso. Walking distance around Kelso. Ideal base to explore the Borders whether walking, cycling or driving about the area. The rooms are a good size. There is a bar and dining area. A good selection of food to suit all tastes. Breakfast was very good. The staff were very nice.

unless Fiona was on duty the evening dining did not always run smoothly with forgotten starters and long waits for the delicious food. Didn’t bother us as used to them but guests may find the traffic over the cobbled street at the front quite noisy.

Hotel allowed us to check-in early due to a wedding, which was really appreciated. The cleaning staff were really warm and friendly. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was included in the room price and was very nice. The room was a decent size with good facilities.

The reception staff and the dining room staff were rather neutral in their interactions - lacked the warmth that the cleaning staff displayed. They were still professional, but it was a noticeable difference between the different groups.

Kelso is a great place to just relax by the side of the Tweed and watch salmon leap. Exactly what we needed on way home after touring Scotland. The hotel gives a first impression of maybe needing a bit of an update but ignore that - it has everything needed. Staff are friendly, service is great, food is excellent and the room comfortable. The Queen's Head is in centre of town near the abbey and at first we thought parking was going to be a problem but you can find free parking nearby, just ask the staff.

Staff were lovely. Food is restaurant was also very very good. Room was clean. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was superb!

Not a dislike more of an observation. We were in the room at the very top of the hotel which involved several flights of stairs one of which was a very narrow steep set at the top and although my Grandmother managed them it might be worth asking in advance where your room is if you have someone slightly less mobile.

The staff were brilliant and friendly as was the service and the general standard of the Hotel, thank you to all. My main issue was the bed, the mattress was so springy and soft when I popped out the shower and went to chill on the bed I was nearly catupleted out the window and I had a poor night’s sleep. I would definitely recommend this hotel but the bed experience has put me off a bit. Perhaps me and my partner could stay again and sample a new mattress/comfort and move this Hotel to a top rating. I hope you value my honest feedback and feel free to apply a massive discount at the next time of booking, lol If you don’t ask you don’t get, and can I just mention I am more than happy to be a mystery shopper for your company and help improve the experience, quality and customer experience because I love the excitement of visiting different countries/destinations and providing a good old down to earth review. Thank you Barry Oliver

As above mentioned the bed was a challenge, lol

Good facilities. Friendly staff who were always willing to help. Hotel provided safe storage for our cycles and were able to provide power to charge one of the cycles. Very good choice of breakfasts. Had an evening meal which was very nice. Overall a good stay.

Room was very warm as it was in the top of the hotel in full sun. It did cool down through the night. In addition water pressure was very low and took sometime to fill bowl or cistern. Shower however was not affected by this. These two minor problems would not put me off staying again

Lovely big room. Great staff. Lively bar. Nice food

Due to the popularity of the bar, and the location of our room, (#1), AND the fact it was beautifully sunny. AND the fact it was a Saturday night, meant we couldn’t sleep till 1am. After that - perfect. And I can sleep through a fit alarm! Also, very few hotels in Kelso have parking. But there is a big public car park in the square. Not the hotels fault.
