Food, Staff and Location very good
Dogs. We love dogs but there were too many dogs in the hotel. In the restaurant we counted 10 dogs. Some were well behaved, some not i.e. Barking, Growling and doing what dogs do. If hotels allow dogs, there should be a allocated area for them only.

Had the most amazing New Years Stay at Ravenstone Manor. The hotel is on Bassenthwaite Lake with beautiful views and direct paths up Skiddaw. Fantastic location for good access to the Northern lakes. Food in the restaurant was exceptional. Very helpful staff who were friendly and open. There was different spaces to sit - the living room had great views of the lake. And the nook had a roaring fire to have a drink by after a long days walking. The hotel was unique in that it was extremely dog friendly. I don't have a dog but love animals and loved being surrounded by animals all day with their friendly owners! Would highly recommend and would stay again! In fact, I actually extended my stay by a day!
Very little. The single room was very cosy - had to unpack my bag then put it back in the car. As others have said the parking was a little tight. .

A female member of staff was a pocket rocket! She was excellent when she wasn't on reception, serving dinner/breakfast she would be sweeping outside. She was on the go all the time, a brilliant, cheerful chatty member of the team. I just wish I'd got her name. I loved my room for the views and the decor.
The downside to our room was the smell of dog. I love dogs but don't really want to sleep in a room where dogs have been. In my opinion, it would be better to have rooms allocated to specific rooms for people to bring their dogs to. The only other issue I had was my wife is coeliac and cannot eat gluten. She had to return dishes a few times although it was discussed at each meal. Breakfast however was not a problem and really delicious.

The food was excellent. Great food and generous portions. Downstairs there were several different sitting areas, which were great. The location was good if you like walking. It was fairly near Dodd Wood; and a short drive into Keswick or a slightly longer one to Cockermouth. Very friendly staff. A nice informal atmosphere. Brilliant if you are a dog-owner or like dogs - the hotel makes a point of being very dog friendly. Certainly, we would stay there again.
The room we had was Ok, but not brilliant. I would have preferred a writing desk as I had to do some work on my laptop. The water pressure in the shower was Ok, but again it would have been nice to have higher pressure.

Virtually everything about this hotel impressed us. From its Arts and Crafts interior, tastefully modernised to the fabulous breakfast and friendly staff. The bedroom was small, but nicely decorated, warm and comfortable. The evening meals were excellent and the bar well stocked. The staff decorated the public rooms for Christmas during our stay and the place looked stunning , especially with the roaring fires. Our dog was made super welcome- we loved the little touches like the supply of towels by the door and special sausages provided for breakfast. The most dog- friendly hotel we’ve stayed in. The location is great for walks and for exploring the Northern Lakes.

Me and my partner stayed here to celebrate my birthday. We absolutely loved our stay here! The staff were all so friendly, the place is decorated beautifully and felt incredibly cosy, and they even have their own brand of gin so what's not to love? Our room had a fantastic view of the lake which was amazing to wake up to. My partner and I are real foodies, and were really impressed by the food! The prices felt reasonable for the portion sizes, too. The breakfast was excellent, rare to find scrambled eggs done so well! Overall we absolutely would stay here again!
Well, nothing really! As we left, we joked about trying to think up negatives we could say, and we came up with three small things that aren't really worth mentioning (pillows not being exactly to our taste etc). But there was nothing that actually made the stay less enjoyable!

Staff were super helpful and attentive, the building was gorgeous and so were the views. Bus stop located right outside — it has buses that go into Keswick, but also all the way up to Carlisle for convenient train connections. Breakfast and dinner were fantastic, with good vegetarian options. Room was clean and comfy. Pillows were nice, duvet was pretty heavy for summer but that’s fine. Shower was good water pressure.
Property was perfect, but we were locked out one night as the key was old so didn’t open the door. There were numbers to call which came to let us in, but we felt terrible about waking someone. Maybe just check your key if you plan being out after 11.

Excellent hotel I could not have chosen a better one. In fact I really don’t want to rave on about it too much as I’d fear the prices would go up and I would get to stay there again if they are too busy. There’s walks on the doorstep for your doggies, breakfast was lovely. Excellent staff, very friendly each and everyone. I loved that they made a single traveler very comfortable. Other doggy hotels could take a leaf from their book and be ans accommodating. Exceptional and I will be back booking direct.
I would have liked my room cleaned /tidied daily but this was an option, I just didn’t ask.

Last time I reviewed this hotel I commented that the staff made it -that is still the case. Helpful and friendly staff. Excellent dinners. A great ambiance in the snug in the evenings. Our room had a lovely view . The hotel is well situated just outside Keswick with a bus stop just outside the hotel. A good bus service to Carlisle and Keswick. This hotel would be ideal for dog owners.
The shower was a bit temperamental, not always heating up and not much pressure. This was not an issue as the bath was fine with plenty of hot water.

Loved everything about the stay here! My dad and I were arriving late for check in, we were called to see if we wanted to order anything from the kitchen since it would be closed on arrival which we weren't expecting. All of the girls were super polite and gave fantastic service. Food was fantastic. A good selection for breakfast and a high quality dinner menu too. They were flexible with meal requests and changes. Ravenstone Manor is a beautiful building and is decorated to a high quality. We stayed in room 4 which was perfect with a garden view. Excellent location near to the lake and within easy reach of the main towns, villages and hikes.
