We were touring all of Cornwall, and decided to read the book "Jamaica Inn" by Daphne Du Maurier just prior to visiting Cornwall, and then booked this hotel. The hotel is probably great even if you don't read the book, but as we had just read it our experience was enhanced. Room was great, big and clean, location is good as central point to tour local hiking/walking areas. Breakfast was fine, dinner was phenomenal, best Braised Short Rib ever (we ate in the pub, cooler atmosphere than the restaurant). There is a little museum which was great, and a big gift shop.

Location was fab, but we had chose that Location with view to where we wanted to go and what we wanted to do. Of which it was surrounded by many places to visit, though was also nice to chill and enjoy the view!
Nothing we didn't like. But there were no slippers or dressing gown, or coffee maker. We were told that there never has been and they have many times ask you to change this, but it's not happened. The coffee machine would have been a definite something we were looking forward to, but it was just escape sachets and a kettle! But..that did not ruin our stay, was a something nice, which sadly wasn't the case!

We booked a double room which was clean, comfortable and had coffee/tea facilities with a delicious biscuit. There wasn’t really a view, but we were in the old building. The property is in a Beautiful location.
There were mirrors but in the wrong place in my opinion. One mirror was one in a recess above dresser/ tea coffee faculties. There was no light here so I used my torch to put make up on. The full length mirror was in the iron cupboard, but you couldn’t open properly because the bedside table was in the way. I should say, there is a great mirror in the bathroom with a light but there were no shelves to put makeup or toiletries on.

Needs more vegan provisions, oat milk in the breakfast area. Food at dinner was very good. The cost of the drinks were far too pricey i would not recommend going there if someone was on a moderate income it was ridiculously pricey for 2 drinks. The atmosphere is relaxed, the rooms are clean, I do think though that it is over priced for what it is which is a shame we live in Cornwall and go there for a break, if there was a discount for people who live within say 50 miles should get a locals discount.
The cups, cutlery and tables feel sticky to touch. The vegan black pudding that was part of the vegan cooked breakfast is a mystery, i think having sliced avocado instead would be much more appropriate, not all vegans want replica meat. Another heads up is buying vegan sausages or other fake meat products should not be purchased from a butchers and if it is it should be said that it is bought from meat selling source.

Evocative experience and old world charm linked to the historical experience from the Daphne du Maurier book. Breakfast was more than most could handle and well cooked. Whatever window you looked out of gave you a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside. The Inn is close to a lake that was surprisingly huge and scenic and a number of other great places for walking such as the beautiful Golitha Falls walk. Also reasonably easy access to the north and south coasts of the County.
Nothing really apart from one evening meal could have been a bit better as the vegetables were close to being raw but others may like it that way. The pie that accompanied them was good though

We returned to the fabulous Jamaica Inn as we enjoyed it so much last year. We love the location, the historic building, the yummy food, the excellent service, the great facilities and the whole unique atmosphere. We paid extra later to have a balcony room. It was nice to see the stars on the only non-rainy day we were there! The room was very cosy with form bed and TV with Sky channels. The bathroom was immaculate with a decent bath, nice toiletries and a cute rubber duck! Thank you for another memorable stay. Hope to see you next year :) !
Nothing really. It was unusual to see a large collection of dirty glasses and used cups from other rooms on the ledge directly outside our door after checking-in. They were still there in the morning after we had breakfast the next day.

We have a perfect stay at The Jamaica Inn and loved our room which was The daphne De maurier Suite. It was enormous and the decor was really good. It had lots of things on the walls about Daphne de Mauriers life and her writing. The bed was so big and comfortable and we loved how you could close the curtains with a press of a button. We had supper in the Inn which was really good with a very large piece of haddock on the fish and chips. Breakfast was also really good with lots of choice. We would definately love to come back again as it was not trippery as lots of people said it would be
Nothing.

Great location. Starting point for lots of lovely walks on Bodmin Moor. On-site museum to explore and residents' lounge for when the weather isn't so great. Great breakfast and dinner choices.
Jamaica Inn can't do anything about, but reaching it with public transport isn't easy. When I planned my trip, it looked like there would be buses from Launceston once or twice a day Mon-Fri, but that wasn't the case any more. I ended up taking buses to and from Five Lanes and then walking the rest of the way (approx. 2.5hours), but that shouldn't be attempted with wheeled luggage and without a good map. Speaking to some locals, buses to and from Bodmin may be more reliable.

We loved everything about the Jamaica Inn. The building looks stunning and characterful and we loved it as soon as we pulled into the car park. We were welcomed by your friendly receptionist and given the key to our room. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a superior double which was spotlessly clean and furnished beautifully with lots of unusual accessories. Later on we had a couple of drinks in the bar before ordering our evening meal. All was reasonably priced and our food was delicious as was breakfast the following morning. Your two bar tenders were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about both the food and drink available. We also visited the on-site shops and museum before our journey home. We particularly enjoyed wandering around the museum and discovering more about the history of the site and of Daphne du Maurier’s life. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return later this year.
Nothing.

The inn was beautiful, amazing location. The room was really nice and very clean. Food for the evening meal was exceptional. Staff were very friendly. Nice selection of ales & wine. Cosy pub, with the log fire. Unable to look around the museum, but the gift shop & farm shop was open, which had a good selection. They are dog friendly aswell. Had a lovely stay, it was very interesting learning all about the history of the place. Would definitely recommend.
The only thing that was let down was the breakfast. This wasn't worth the money. Eggs were hard, bacon, sausage swimming in grease. Continental didn't have much choice. Staff weren't particularly friendly in the morning, all seemed rushed & a little stressed. Shame as everything else was lovely, we had such a great weekend.
