Nice rooms, nice overall vibe, attentive staff. The bed was super comfortable. Thanks for a good stay. We’d definitely come back :)

The showers are surprisingly complicated - we’d had to call front desk for help! Over-engineered coupled with pretty low water pressure.

Great hotel, the rooms were clean with a comfy bed. Bathroom was clean. Elemis shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. Lovely hotel in a great location. Very quiet area on the weekend but 10 mins walk to Farringdon or Liverpool Street. Great for a walk to spitalfields market. Easy access to central London. We walked from Waterloo on the first day for a long scenic walk around London. Very easy tube access into central London though if you don’t want to walk that distance. The staff were available 24hrs and were really helpful. Expensive per night but not for the location. Was cheaper than the local travelodge.

The air conditioning didn’t work in our room and it was very hot. We reported this and were moved to a new room quickly where the air conditioning worked. The bathrooms was very basic with bath shower combo. The soap dish/ shower gel tray in the shower had lost a screw so couldn’t be used.

Was modern inside, with many mirrors on corridors, floor leds, zoom mirror in bathroom, scale which im sure ladies use it, very modern shower.

Would have been great to have breakfast included in such high room price (£379) for a five star hotel. Still awaiting an answer related with how long the passport scan will be kept in hotel computerised sistem. The receptionists were hesitant in providing answer about it. I messaged the hotel on booking.com. No answer so far.

The staff at Montcalm were so tentative, polite and helpful. The room was spectacular, as we’ve been travelling with a baby - finding a room to fit the suitcases, pram and cot with space for the baby to crawl was wonderful. Everything was clean and fresh, it was such a comfortable stay and I would definitely consider staying here again when in London.

The shower system could be challenging to use, we struggled with getting a warm shower - it was either quite hot or cold. We could also hear the plumbing perfectly in our room, when people used the toilet and flushed the toilet.

The staff were so accommodating especially Renjith and Waheed Khan at reception. They actually gave us an complimentary room upgrade, with complimentary continental breakfast and a late checkout. We went down to London for our anniversary and the hotel was one of the highlights itself on our trip. The room was clean, had all the essentials and was at a good location. Can’t recommend this hotel enough and we will definitely visit again.

The only thing I would say I didn’t like was the TV, as it only had live channels. If they had a Netflix option we probably wouldn’t have left our rooms.

Location is great for the City and the Barbican. Entrance lobby is lovely. The Club Lounge facilities are fantastic, serving drinks in the evening and a continental breakfast. Rooms are good, well appointed and clean. Hotel staff and service excellent - would rate as exceptional - particularly Robert on reception and Mihai and the Club Lounge staff.

Had a great experience staying at the Montcalm Brewery, however had some initial hiccups with a direct web based reservation which had not gone through. Robert and the reception staff went over and beyond sorting out and the staff were very helpful and receptive of the feedback given about the online experience which does not reflect the overall excellent quality of the hotel and the staff.

The bed was exceptionally comfortable and an excellent nights sleep was had.

Reception staff both checking in and out were borderline rude. They did not pass on any information about the hotel, where the rooms were, bar was or any offer of breakfast. The staff on reception just did not seem to be bothered by guests checking in or Out.

We booked at Montcalm at Brewery for a weekend away, never stayed in the Barbican area before but it is actually quite convenient location. It is only 5 min walk from the Barbican station. We didn't try the Moorgate station but Liverpool Street was not far. Maybe 10 minute walk. Check in was easy but our room was not ready so we went to the local pub Jugged Hare for a drink. Staff there was not too friendly so we didn't go back. As it was hot, we had a quite shower before we headed out but the shower had no pressure and water was luke warm, the controls didn't seem to be working. We called concierge and the maintenance guy came and said they had new boilers etc so there has been a problem. We were told they would fix it and when we got back late after a day out, they said they had fixed it but it was the same. We went to reception and luckily they changed us to another room and made sure we were happy before we switched. This was in the Barbican Rooms opposite the road. The room was a bit less spacious but had a kitchenette and the bathroom was much bigger and had good water pressure and temperature. Nice Toiletries provided. There were bath robes and slippers too. Our room was quiet and we couldn't hear any road noises. We did hear the air con noises but we had ear plugs ready. They had some lovely tea bags in the room, what we would call proper chamomile tea! Breakfast was continental and self serviced. The staff did the tea/coffee for you. We were quite lucky both mornings and didn't have to wait for tables and had enough time to enjoy the breakfast. They had smoked salmon, palma ham, avocado,olives, other salads,eggs bread, pastries, fruits. Fruit juices and water.

If they could have told us the shower didn't work and changed us to a different room earlier that would have been better, it was close to midnight before we managed the switch. The staff didn't check on our stay when we checked out. There is a window in the bathroom and they had put the blinds there but it is not long enough to cover the whole length of the window, however we didn't have anyone opposite us to look into our bathroom. The flush didn't seem to work too well in the toilet.

The room was quiet and very comfortable. The reception staff were very helpful. The location was at the conference centre which was very convenient.

The USB charging port in the small desk was loose and did not provide charge (fortunately I had brought my own USB charging plug). The TV system was not great. The light switch system was difficult to figure out. There was a dark pubic hair on the towel. It was quite a long way from reception to the room and when my room card failed that meant quite a long round trip to get it fixed (but that would not prevent me from staying again in the same room).

Absolutely loved this hotel, the staff from start to finish were very friendly & welcoming. On arrival, we were greeted on the door & our bags were taken care of as we checked in. We were upgraded to a Club room, this was such a wonderful surprise & on entering our room they had decorated it for my 50th Birthday. The room was covered in balloons, towel art & a lovely bottle of prosecco, chilled waiting for us - just amazing!!. They also upgraded our 2nd room we had booked for my son & his girlfriend so they were next to us, which was fantastic. The hotel itself is situated next to the Barbican Centre & the Barbican Underground is a 5 minute walk. Everywhere is within a 15/30 mins distance via tube or bus so location & the area itself is very quiet - so perfect for us. There is also a pub called the Jaggered Hare attached to the building, also very nice, we had a couple of drinks, we didn't have any food, but the menu looked lovely. We will definitely be back & would highly recommend this hotel to everyone and would like to thank all the staff for making our stay memorable you were all so lovely. Thank you
