The location is good, a car is needed to get to there. The buildings and gardens are stunning. The drive up with the treelined avenue and walks down to the viewing over the River Thames and rolling hills is stunning. The furnishings are a little dated but very clean and it didn't detract from anything. The room with the patio on the ground floor and a cup of tea outside first thing in the morning was wonderful. The staff are terrific young, very friendly, professional, helpful lovely to talk to. We had a very nice talk with a young lady and gentleman (night staff on duty) outside and they are very very good it was a pleasure speaking with him. I'm only sorry I couldn't remember his name. The Spa and staff again wonderful, they fitted me into the aqua aerobics and couldn't have been more helpful.

Breakfast. Awful on both mornings. First morning everything arrived all at once so cooked breakfast was cold by time eating it. Next day two soft boiled eggs took 3 times to get right 40 minutes in all for the eggs. One or two people were complaining at breakfast and I felt sorry for the lovely young staff having to apologise for the chef. Replace breakfast chef. Restaurant manager at breakfast faffing around but not actually doing anything. It took so long we missed our morning going around this lovely hotel gardens.

This hotel is exceptional. The rooms are spacious and lovely, the building is huge and interesting. The gardens are gorgeous. The staff are super helpful and friendly. Some of the staff are clearly new and still learning but they’re just so lovely and willing to listen. The breakfast was stunning - we ate an evening meal in the hotel one evening too and it was exquisite (I had lobster risotto and crème brûlée with a gorgeous vanilla cream) - we had massages in the spa that was clean and lovely - the pool is heated and there’s a steam room and sauna …. The whole stay was just amazing.

I didn’t dislike anything. one tiny tiny gripe was my smashed avacado at breakfast was still a bit frozen so could have had a few more minutes defrosting but this was a tiny oversight

Breakfast good. Location good. Peaceful surroundings. Could do with more staff in the spa area. I had the same person doing my massage reflexology and pedicure. Lol she did an awesome job. I felt sorry for her having to do all the work. Oh and another time the fire alarm went off just as I was in a deep sleep just to go to reception to find out a staff member sprayed deodorant I was pretty upset but did my utmost to remain calm 😃😃

More staff in the spa area. Room with better views

The building, gardens and views were stunning. The spa was very nice. Book ahead if you want treatments though. The staff were very helpful but sometimes it felt a bit too much (trying too hard). The room was big and the bed very comfortable.

I think the food is overpriced for what you get and did not meet our expectations in terms of quality. The wine we ordered they didn't have and i'm not sure what we were offered as an alternative was of equal standing. The table next to us also had the same happen to them.

The staff were lovely, the kitchen was closed whilst we were there so there was no food during the day however, the staff did make us a sandwich. It would of been nice to be notified beforehand as we could of prepared for this. So I think the price of our stay should of been discounted. There are no other places to get food If kitchen is closed. But everyone was friendly, the grounds were lovely and the spa was relaxing.

The kitchen was closed and we weren't notified before our stay. If it wasn't for a lovely member of staff we wouldn't of been able to eat until qe went out at 7 to the town and we arrived at 1pm . There was also a knocking noise in our room which woke us up during the night but the rooms were lovely and comfortable apart from this

Location. Excellent. Views of a Thames. Phenomenal.

Gardens tired and need more tender love and care. Many places overgrown. Many weeds in places they shouldn’t be. One mile walk around gardens not possible in the woods despite being given a map showing the route. Going anti-clockwise after the steps becomes impassible / dangerous (reported to reception.) No air conditioning in room Lift been out of service quite a while.

As you might expect from a period property this hotel oozes character. We stayed in a deluxe room and found it nice and spacious with lovely views. The spa is a superb facility with good size pool and well-equipped modern gym. The staff were wonderful from the warm welcome we received at reception to the lady in the spa who showed us around the facilities. Nothing was too much trouble. A special mention though must go to John the restaurant manager and his staff who gave exemplary service at breakfast. They had the skill of being very attentive but without being overbearing. Again, nothing was too much trouble. We've stayed at hundreds of hotels and the standard here was right up with the very best we've experienced.

Nothing!

Staff at breakfast and the bar were very, very good, dedicated and friendly. Room view was just what it was expected: wonderful. No air conditioning in the bedroom. However, it was great this service was replaced with a fan that worked perfectly. Thanks. The food was good. The wine and other drinks available were good too.

The restaurant did not make a note of my daughter's Birthday, despite of the fact I had requested it to be included as part of our dessert on the 28/08. This request was conveyed when the booking for dinner was made (directly on the phone), in advance to the trip. The loo seat in the bathroom in the allocated room is loose. Main restaurant has no air conditioning and no fans, which makes the room very hot at times. There is no dressing code suggestions for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. This could be useful for visitors/guests (particularly dinner). The robes and slippers from the room were not replaced after been used in the spa.

The breakfast was delicious and the location was beautiful the most gorgeous views. The staff were very attentive all so friendly, first class service. Thankyou all.

I struggled with the menu as I’m a very fussy eater but they managed to sort me something else out. The food was beautifully presented and delicious.

The Junior Suite room we upgraded to was excellent and perfect for us (2 adults and a baby). Extra large kingsize bed, a TV in the bedroom and another one in the sitting area, good sized bathroom with a nice tub and lots of gadgets and mood lighting. The views from the hotel looking down at the Thames River are spectacular. The property is well maintained, with beautiful gardens and common areas. Breakfast was good, but not great.

The only lift in the hotel is currently out of order, so if you have a higher floor room, stairs are the only option. The room we were originally allocated had a beautiful view, but was not air-conditioned (the majority of rooms aren't!). This was practically unliveable during the hottest summer on record in the UK. We requested the hotel to switch us to an air-conditioned room, which was a higher category room and, even though we were staying for just 1 night and the hotel had spare availability, we had to pay extra for the upgrade. The spa is nice, but not very child/family friendly. Children are only allowed in the swimming pool from 3pm - 5pm.
