Staff were excellent. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the hotels history. Good food, lovely relaxed bar area, and welcoming atmosphere. The room was spacious and well laid out. Balcony bath tub was great, too. Good room facilities and well equipt.

Lighting and plugs were not well thought out. There are no plugs by bed and no lights near the mirrors to get ready with.

We were called ahead of our stay to ask if we would be okay with the stairs up to our booked room. After discussion we took a room on the floor below and were offered free breakfast to adjust for the price difference. The room we had was spacious, a cot was set up for us following a request. Room service was speedy. Staff at dinner and breakfast were wonderful with us and our 2 year old. Solid menu which catered for many.

I did ask one of the reception staff if any of the large boat tours were running during the time we were here and they said ‘I couldn’t tell you’ and advised us to check at the boat stand. I had tried to look up the information beforehand but wasn’t sure.

Beautiful and stylish

Parking is even more restricted than usual currently . We had to evacuate at 3am which I’m sure wasn’t the hotels fault but this was not even commented on at check out! Also, a double hit of a drinks service charge plus a food service charge onto the dinner bill when a DB&B package in a top standard room had been booked seemed rather money grabbing and was rather a spoiler on the experience. We also found a previous guests wine bottle cork in the room which made me wonder re cleanliness. A shame as this was a big anniversary treat having got married there previously.

Very friendly staff, nice bathroom with excellent rain shower and freestanding bath, luxurious toiletries etc. Nice bed as well. Sumptuous breakfast. When my scallop starter was not as I expected during dinner, they took it away and replaced it with freshly fried new ones even tho I had not read the description right. Can't fault the service. Good choice of drinks too.

We received an offer for upgrade 3 days before arrival, took it but only found out at check-in it was not available. Would have been better to hear at check-in about upgrade offers if available.

I was traveling with my sister in law. We had 2 single beds. They were so comfortable! The bathroom is quite large with a full tub and walk in shower. The room itself had great space and ample storage in the closet. We stayed midweek and it was really quiet at night, which was lovely! You are right on the center of town which is so handy! The building was gorgeous with a lovely courtyard to sit in, a beautiful bar area, and the restaurant looked lovely too, although we didn’t dine there during our stay. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

There’s no lift to the bedrooms, just FYI. We had a lot of luggage and we were on the 2nd floor so this was a challenge! In fairness, the staff offered assistance a few times but we were stubborn ;)

Everything! Great location, bed, facilities, room, restaurant etc but the standout was the customer service. Every person we interacted with was attentive, pleasant, helpful. Special mention goes to Sabine on reception who could not have been more engaging or helpful if she tried. A model of how to do customer service well - great service with a lovely dose of personality.

The stairs! But being a listed building, a lift is not possible, and we were offered help with our luggage several times, which we declined. So it's our own fault we didn't like the stairs :)

i. I particularly appreciated Sabine at Reception. She was helpful in every way and even spontaneously found a vase for a rose I was carrying without being asked: it's little gestures like these that make the hotel special! ii. my room was gorgeous: huge and quiet and with a super-comfortable bed; gorgeous Occitane toiletries; vast bathroom with lovely fluffy, spotlessly clean towels

i. the music was too loud & intrusive in the courtyard: difficult to read or talk quietly ii. there didn't seem to be enough staff on Reception: sometimes a long wait

Receptionist (she) absolutely friendly, kind and helpful. Very charming room, located in the attic, huge space and huge bathroom. Quiet environment. Comfortable bed. Breakfast option not purchased.

1) Long path made of many stairs (if you carry heavy luggage it is not comfortable at all). In fairness, however, I must add that the reception staff took care of carrying my luggage up to my room. 2) There is no refrigerator in the room. I'm not saying a stocked minibar, but at least an empty refrigerator to keep some drinks cold, would have been very welcome.

Being able to make use of the hotel's underground car park is a bonus in Henley although there is a £15 charge to do this. I only stayed one night so am not sure if that cost was for the night or covered other nights if you stayed for longer. The receptionist was very helpful (she directed us to the car park as the turning is easy to miss) and nothing was to much trouble. Breakfast is beautifully laid out and there is a wealth of choice. The Bistro is a very pleasant place to eat in. We could check in an hour earlier than the usual 3 pm slot which was welcome but only because we took the offer of another room than the one I had booked. The hotel's location is excellent as a few steps from its front is the River Thames which meant we could easily stroll along the Thames path even when the light was fading.

It was not an issue for myself (or my sister) but the room was on the 3rd floor (in the Eaves) and there are no stairs which is understandable in a hotel of this age. So if mobility is an issue, then this room would not be accessible. The bathroom was large and the hot water was very hot but there were areas which needed a touch of paint especially the bath panel.

Everything offers in the hotel.

The toilet but I know that it's quite a traditional one. There was a false alarm while we stayed there. Though it was a false alarm, we need some explanation to ease all the worries especially for our frightened daughter who was crying at the incident. We were left sitting in the lobby for quite a while without any updated situation till we had to ask the receptionist whether it's okay to go up to the room? As the incident occurred right after we checked in that evening, we expected to have our 4-year-old daughter and an elderly mom taken a rest as soon as possible. Anyway, the receptionist was nice and very helpful at the time we checked in.
