If visiting Highclere Castle or even close to Newbury….You MUST stay here. Our experience after canceling reservation at another Location (they didn’t have AC) has been amazing! Reservations were efficient. The photos on light do not show haw charming this Inn really is. Our adventure starts at the train station where Richard picked us up in his local taxi. Not only did he take us The Furze Bush he waited while we dropped off our luggage before heading over to Highclere Castle. He said we could call him, and he would gladly pick us up when we were finished our tour. He did just that returned us to the Inn and nothing but exceptional service at the Inn. The restaurant had a “non- boring” menu, so it made dinner choices difficult. Everything was delicious and the 2 young lads who waited on us could not have been more charming, funny and personable. Our room was spotless, and the slipper bathtub was amazing. My last night of vacation included a hot soak in this amazing treat. Next morning (we only stayed one night) we called Richard to see if he would drive us to Heathrow. Agan, more exceptional service. Our only regret we didn’t stay longer…..but for sure we will be back and will tell everyone this place is EXCEPTIONAl!

We did not stay long enough

A really good find in the lovely Hampshire/Berkshire countryside. I had hoped to visit Highclere but it doesn't open until July so had two lovely days in Winchester and Basingstoke instead. Room clean and bigger than I was expecting as it was a large double. Good food both breakfast and evening meals and nice real ales.

TV above the wardrobe ! would have preferred it lower down on a table or stand as there was room and stops you getting neck strain. Shower took a long while to warm up but once been on a few minutes it was okay. Some of the lanes in the area are very narrow, my Satnav took me a rather strange route to Basingstoke on numerous narrow track roads, fortunately when I met another vehicle on one road there was a farm yard entrance to pull over to allow the other to pass, but something to bear in mind if travelling.

Comfortable, good food, friendly staff

The Inn is situated not far from the A34 which made it an ideal location for us to break our journey from the ferry terminal in Portsmouth to the north. The room was comfortable if a little dated but had all the 'essentials' needed. We ate in the pub on our arrival and at breakfast the following morning and the food was good, traditional fare at a very good price. This was our first visit to the Furze Bush Inn and we have already booked again for our next return from France.

Beautifully situated in the heart of the countryside. Very quaint country pub but with modern amenities. Lovely cosy rooms and very good breakfasts. The highlights were the lovely young staff members, Lizzie and George who were super kind and helpful. Very close to Highclere (if you have a car) so a perfect place to be based

For me the dinner menu was ok but not fantastic. Having stayed in the area before I would probably dine elsewhere in the evening

A lovely country pub with a warm and cosy atmosphere. The room was very quiet and comfortable for a family of three. The food and drinks at the bar downstairs were excellent, the menu had a great variety and all of our meals were delicious. It was good to see that it was visited both nights by the locals which is always a good sign.

Not a downside as such but the room was a little tired. Could do with some updating, mainly in the bathroom

We had a lovely stay, (3 generations of family in 4 rooms), unfortunately my husband and daughter are both celiac and require a strict gluten free diet, they had different evening meals but both had chips, they ate gluten and my daughter was extremely poorly through the night. I did mention this on check out the following morning and was told they have a separate fryer for chips.

We stayed one night at the Furze Bush Inn while traveling between Devon and London. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable and the staff very helpful and accommodating. They suggested a hike up Beacon Hill, which turned out to be wonderful. We had a nice dinner in the pub and a very nice breakfast in the dining room. They have a wonderful garden for afternoon drinks. Altogether, a very pleasant stay.

Booked the queen room because it was the few they had left it went beyond my expections it was huge the decor was superb with a old style huge bed had a very good sleep the photo's don't the pub justice the place is a lot larger then in the photo's the food is excellent the the outside has a well cut grass the edges are left for nature birds were in inbundace a robin joined me for lunch

Lovely country pub in fabulous location for our visit to Highclere. We had booked the larger room and it was comfortable with everything we needed. The staff here are exceptional, attentive and welcoming. We had a 3 course meal in the restaurant which was delicious and good value. Fabulous atmosphere in restaurant and bar. Breakfast made to order was excellent quality and a larger than expected. Highly recommend.
