Maisy served us for breakfast/Thursday and Friday. We found Maisy to be friendly and professional; nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were really courteous and friendly. We only had one bad experience with one of the staff at breakfast Sunday who was very abrupt and rude. I complained to the manager, Luke who apologised on her behalf however I felt she should have apologised, Luke allowed us to pay for one breakfast only by way of an apology. Apart from that we really enjoyed our stay and the food was really good.! The room was clean comfortable and very quiet. We loved the location. We thought a few benches would be useful around the golf course as the grounds are 500 acres. A hire a buggy to ride around the area. The 17th century building was lovely, not the modern hotel, so made it all the more special.

This place is beautiful. We stayed in one of the rooms with a lake view. Very comfortable room with a nice little outside area to sit and have a drink. Spotlessly clean. The grounds are beautiful and the main house itself is a picture. Nothing is to much trouble for the staff they're all super smiley, friendly and go above and beyond to make everything perfect for you. Manuel on the reception desk is an absolute diamond and no matter what we asked nothing was to much trouble for him and hes Also very knowledgeable about the house and grounds. The food in the restaurant is delicious and reasonably priced. I would stay here again and again its fantastic 😁

There isn't anything we didn't like. Everything was fantastic

Beautiful surroundings. A seating area outside the room overlooks the lake.

Lack of carparking. Main carpark was not accessible due to chains across. So you drive down the drive with cars parked on the grass both sides then you have to reverse out in the dark. Then we ended up driving up on the golf course itself as there was no signage to the summer house rooms. We drove around for about 15min in the pitch dark before diving down a turning we hadn't tried and eventually found our room. Bigger bolder signage required and better lighting in the areas you need to walk down. Also no USB plugs in the room. We noticed damp in the corner of the room - possible leaky roof.

Location stunning. Fabulous experience staying in a castle. Staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Breakfast was exceptional, we stayed four days and had most meals at the hotel, everything that came out of the kitchen was exceptionally good and very good quality and value for money.

The bedrooms we had looked as if they had not been decorated for 25 years and showed the marks of time but in the age of the building that almost was part of the ambience. The style was grand baronial as opposed to contemporary. The beds were comfortable and I have a very sensitive back but had no problems after three nights. The edge of the bath and shower screen desperately needed replacing in my room 202 it was black and trapped in the seal of the shower screen... it was the only thing I didn't like, but my sister was in the room next door and hers was fine.

We arrived later than expected but they kept the kitchen open for our evening meal and couldn't have been more helpful. They made a fuss of our Birthday Girl and the rooms were fabulous and included lots of little extras. We were made to feel very welcome and even had private parking reserved for our motorbikes. I have to say that every member of staff we encountered was motivated, attentive and well-trained in customer care. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

The bathroom off the restaurant does need to be updated otherwise I couldn't fault it.

The hotel and grounds are fantastic, we could not believe the price was so reasonable. This hotel is rated 3* but frankly could easily be a 4* - (we have stayed in worse 4*hotels). Tge room was in a small block of rooms not inside the main hotel building which suited us great as no noise from party's in the main function room can disturb you. The breakfast was very very goid and all staff were very polite and friendly.

The only thing I coukd fault the hotel on would be a lack of toiletries in the bathroom, a soap dispenser would be a good addition.

Recommended by a friend as it was so close to The Watermill Theatre where we were going to watch 'The jungle Book'. Easy to book. Staff pleasant and welcoming. Beautiful setting with an excellent view of the golf course with river beyond. Loads of swans on the river. Would have liked to explore the site but not enough time. Large bedroom. Beds were comfy. Bottled water provided. Lights all working. Radiator working. Large bathroom with huge comfy towels. Shampoo, shower gel and soap provided.

The decor was tired with flaking paintwork, lino in bathroom was burnt orange by the radiator pipes. Having said that, it was adequate. It just needed updating. Loud noise (underneath the room) at 10.45pm just after we had got to sleep - it woke us both up. Sounded like a motor bike or a tractor? Not sure what was below us. Thankfully this didn't occur again.

We occupied a suite so it was ideal for a small family celebration whilst other party members were housed in the Manor House. Generally reception restaurant and bar staff were very welcoming and efficient. We had an evening meal on the Saturday for 9 of us and we were looked after very attentively in particular Lisa was very friendly and attended to our needs. Breakfast on both mornings was very enjoyable. The Hotel is well situated for good walks pity I didn't have enough time to play some golf.

Whilst the shower mixer tap appliance was manageable a power shower would have been better

Stayed in the summer house adjacent main hotel, lovely and quiet, rooms large and clean. Allotted own parking space which was close. Lovely location with golf course away from Newbury.

Price of breakfast at £15 each, would have been £45/day for the three of us, this is most likely for business people who are not paying themselves. Loose paving slab to step outside room and ants found in the shower next morning. Reported to reception who were very receptive to these being reported sending their handyman to sort.

Was sent to the summer house. Initially disappointed that we weren’t in the main building, but the summer houses are so quiet, have views over the lake, have their own little entrance halls with chairs and table to watch the outside wildlife and an outside terrace shared by the 4 summer houses. Room was spacious with high ceilings. The bathroom was very modern with walk in wet shower area. Underfloor heating throughout made the place very comfy. Newbury is very close by so easy to pop out for food or supermarket shop. The walk around the lake was fun, my daughter enjoyed the jumping in muddy puddles. Really enjoyed the stay.

The wet weather, but nothing the hotel could do about that!
