The property was clean and furnished to a high standard. The rooms were a good size with beautiful bedding.

We liked everything about the accommodation, however our stay was spoiled by the fact on our return from watching the T20 quarter final match we found the bar closed. We deliberately returned for a drink as we were told that it would be open until 11pm. The bar staff told us on our return that they were closing early. As customers we were slightly surprised at their attitude. We were served a drink but had to take it to our room- no communal area for us to socialise in. If we had known this we would have stayed in the city and got a later taxi back.

We stayed here whilst attending a wedding in the area so we didn’t experience much other than a nights sleep and breakfast. The hotel is very clean and the staff were very helpful. Beds comfy, our room was at the very top of the hotel and was a little warm due to the recent good weather but a fan was available in the room which was a nice touch! (Really good fan too!) Breakfast was really nice, again staff helpful and friendly. Would recommend to anyone looking in the area.

We loved the way we were greeted it was a very warm and engaging welcome. The breakfast was very good. The check out for 11am allows for a more relaxed start to the day. We left very relaxed and when we visit England again we will book more time so we could enjoy the dining experience.

Unfortunately it was a warm night. We had the window open so at 7:30 the extractor for the kitchen started up. Not a big deal but it is a very old building and we were in a room in the middle (11) it was only a little noisy. With the window closed, no problem.

Jacky was very accommodating, and we enjoyed some banter between us. The staff we met were friendly and very hard working.

The place was understaffed, our room should have been advertised as a single room. No lifts, narrow staircases handrails only on one side. We needed assistance to carry cases upstairs and staff were doing this in adverse conditions. Not sure the hotel would meet O H and Safety regulations under these current conditions.

Unusual location literally in the middle of a housing estate which wasn't a problem. Friendly welcome. Room spacious, bed comfortable. We stayed for dinner which was excellent. Service at the meal & for the order at breakfast by a wonderful lady with grey hair & glasses. Really went the extra mile in everything.

The chair in our room had a stain on it. The stairways are tired & grubby, but off-putting. Not enough toiletries supplied for 2. Breakfast was tasty but a bit rushed & you need more coffee options. We arrived about 8.50, a gentleman had cleared everything away by 9.10. You say breakfast is available until 9.30. We couldn't get more juice etc which wasn't great. Check out a bit dismissive.

I had a great stay at at the Hopping Hare, very comfortable bedrooms and super helpful staff. I loved that it had free parking and was a little out of the centre, so it had more green space around the facilities. Located in a quiet residential area.

I would have loved a decent Latte in the morning rather than a filter coffee and some fresh fruit at the breakfast buffet. But overall the breakfast that I ordered was really nice.

The Rooms here are excellent, spotlessly clean with good facilities A limited menu on Sunday but good value for money and the quality was mostly excellent. Very good breakfast which was freshly cooked and not the run of the mill buffet.

The only negative was the rissoto my wife ordered for dinner which was overcooked, dense and served in a portion that would have fed all four of us.

Food for both dinner and breakfast was excellent. Staff were very friendly

One small thing. There was no where in the shower to put your shower gel or shampoo apart from the floor. There are lots of inexpensive caddy’s that you can get, which would have been very useful.

Staff absolutely superb. Unfailingly friendly and helpful, no weak links in the chain at all. Food generally excellent and decent value. Room clean, quiet and well-appointed. Excellent location: easy to access and plenty of parking, attractive building with history and wow factor. Though we hadn't booked it, HH was able to switch us to a room with special facilities to accommodate my elderly father.

Not much to find fault with at all. Maybe a bit of mouldy grout in the shower if you look carefully.

Good Breakfast. Friendly staff. Plenty of free parking. Nice quiet residential area. Bus stop into town opposite the hotel.
