The staff were lovely and so was the food

Why did they get rid of the sofas. The lounge was uncomfortable and unwelcoming

The room was very good with an uninterrupted sea view. Well equipped, well appointed and good size. The breakfast was very good and the staff were obliging, professional and friendly.

My room, although supposedly the best in the hotel was on the first floor directly over the lounge. On the second night, a live band performed, very loudly until 10.30 p.m. It made sleep impossible. Future guests, be aware.

Relaxed atmosphere, good sized car park, Hotel is on the sea front , but also close to the town centre. Restaurant evening meal and breakfast excellent. lovely comfortable double bed, but a bit big for size of room!

The room was too hot and was unable to regulate the heat. didn’t like having to book a slot to swim, on a holiday you don’t want to be tied to time!

The staff are outstanding always at this hotel, especially in the dining room: courteous, helpful and sensitive. The dinner menu (four courses for about £22) is excellent, and the food beautifully prepared. The hotel has a lovely lounge, and a fascinating history (the house belonged to Washington Singer, son of Isaac, who invented the sewing machine!)

The worst thing this time was that the radiator in my room did not work, and could not be mended while I was there. There was a convector heater there in the wardrobe....as if they knew the radiator could not be trusted! Also, the walls in my room (60) were paper thin, and the people next door noisy until late at night. The hotel needs to spread its clients out if at all possible: there are plenty of rooms!

Location of pool,to access you need to go out the hotel and is adjacent to building, would be better for an undercover access from hotel.Pool area a little dated, small changing area, to access pool, you have to climb steps, no easily accessible if you have difficulty with stairs. Steps to access the hotel,although they do have a ramp at the side of the hotel; (two entrances, one with steps)

The hotel was quite historic and had a lovely character but was bright and light and spacious. It had the appearance of being very grand but was quite informal and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We felt very relaxed and comfortable there. I really hope that we can go again.

on the Friday night of our stay there was a dog next door yapping on and off throughout the evening. I was quite shocked that such a noisy dog was alllowed to stay. Fortunately it stopped during the time we needed to sleep, otherwise we would have requested an alternative room. We know that some people are a bit noisy in hotels which is extremely annoying but to have a noisy dog next door was really unaccpetable.
