They were having a soft opening so got a great deal and was so well looked after. The staff were really lovely and so helpful. They were having a few teething issues with systems and the like but it didn't matter. They were charming and really went the extra mile. The hotel itself is lovely and so far removed from what I'm used to having to stay in when visiting family in Paignton. I'm so glad the Mercure has arrived!!! At last, somewhere decent to stay. :-)

Nothing.

Comfortable room Location Brand new hotel Friendly staff Excellent breakfast

Not enough staff working in bar and restaurant. Limited choice and expensive restaurant, compared to other Mecure hotels I have stayed in. Staffing issues meant the room wasn't ready when we checked in. Price of drinks expensive

Being a new hotel it was exceptionally clean. All staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Security was upheld by the need to use room door card to use the lifts and access the staircases. Location is excellent and despite being opposite the fairground (only there during summer) the rooms are well sound proofed.

Lack of drawers in bedroom and only minimal space in wardrobe. Fee for parking extremely high and limited spaces meant that if you went out in your car you ran the risk of not being able to find a space when you came back. Beware that the hotel hosts coach parties which can cause problems at dinner. Book your table at reception in the morning.

Very good breakfast but food needed to be hotter. also kept running out of several items Had to keep asking for things that had run out but staff very obliging. Disappointed there was not any fried bread which had been provided at Mercure Exeter.

We had a dinner reservation for Saturday evening at 6.30 when we would have preferred to be a bit later at 7pm.. We were told there were 2 coach party tours booked in. We had to wait an hour for our food but the supervisor was excellent keeping us informed of the delay and we were offered a free dessert. I asked for an Irish whisky which was not on the menu and the bar person didn't really know how to make one but the supervisor did her best. Earlier in the evening we asked for 2 scotch or Irish whiskies and were told they only served Jack Daniels and other types of whisky. The meal was very good.

The hotel is very modern and clean with friendly staff and beds were comfy

The restaurant was slow and the app orders were a disaster We were there for 4 days and on day one they just sold out of strawberry Jam and strawberry yogurts and green tea and by day 4 they still didn't have them so although breakfast was included I didn't end up eating The parking here is bad too, you pay £15 a day for a space and when spaces run out people just park anywhere and block you from getting out. They do suggest using a car park down the road but I wouldn't feel safe there Carnival on across from hotel which is very loud but not the hotels fault

The breakfast was great, a good choice of options, and our food in the restaurant for an evening meal was excellent. The staff were all friendly, polite and helpful. The hotel is a newer build and so it is in good condition with up-to-date facilities.

The hotel has its own car park, but it has limited spaces, and it has a daily rate of £15 (if you can get a space) for a single night's stay I can see that as a fair charge compared with other external local parking. But we were there for three nights/days and as such I would prefer to have a cascading reduction for people on a longer stay. £15 day 1, £10 day 2 and £5 day 3 a total of £30 seems a lot fairer than the £45 we were charged.

Rooms were excellent and clean. Meal prices were reasonable. Breakfast too expensive.

Parking is a big issue in this area. Many chose not to move their cars once they had a parking spot in the hotel car park for fear of not being able to park in a secure location within reasonable walking distance. Only 50 spots for over 100 rooms. The local council car park looks run down and the walk back at night not worth the risk. Hope this issue could be resolved with local council somehow. Paignton as a location was pretty tired around the hotel and needs a lot of redevelopment.

Well kept and beautiful hotel, very inviting atmosphere, friendly attentive staff, spacious sea view rooms, great restaurant and bar. It's definitely a focal point on the sea front. Hotel offers good, free WiFi to guests, which is always a bonus. Our stay was at the end of the summer break, so we enjoyed a quieter time. I'm not sure if any of this is affected during peak season.

Their is a fair amount of parking, but definitely a first come basis and a bit expensive, but conveniently located on site. During school breaks, the carnival across the road can be noisy at night.
