The location, cleanliness and staff were very helpful. I had a lovely weekend visiting family and my overall stay was great. Would come back again.

The metal stairs to get into the property when it was raining and with luggage wasn't great as it was very slippery. The car park facilities were not brilliant and ended up parking by the rugby club which made it easier to get to the B&B. The merrit B&B is listed as a B&B so you would presume breakfast would be included.

Marc and Julie were great hosts, happy to help out whenever needed. Everything was immaculately clean at all times. Great touch being allowed to bring takeaways into the dining area and utilising all the cutlery and plates. Would 100% stay here again and will be recommending Merritt House to any of my friends who head Paignton way.

The only thing I would say was my mattress was slightly too firm for the wife but that is personnel preference.

The location was great, short walk to the town centre and all the land was flat. The room had everything we would expect to need, such as an iron and heatproof mat, tea and coffee facilities, and a TV that is actually connected to streaming service and normal channels. The bathroom was a decent size, and the door was invented to not take up anymore space. Breakfast was really nice and done with all the food you liked so you didn't have to compromise on it.

Very friendly and helpful owners, who happily accommodated our request for an early breakfast. Breakfast itself was good, well-cooked and sufficient without our being over-faced. The bed was comfortable with nice linen, and the bathroom clean and well-supplied.

Car parking is limited. Although it advertises 4 spaces, the narrow access makes these tricky even for a medium-sized car, especially if larger vehicles are already parked. There is some free street parking, and we were never stuck, but sometimes had to make multiple tours around the block looking/waiting. Our room was smallish, with limited storage & hanging space, but we were only there for 3 nights, not a problem.

Merritt house is a lovely place to stay. The room had a lovely shower, comfortable bed with a fan above for air conditioning. The room provided a kettle with tea and coffee available. The staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. The location is perfect as it is in the centre of town and close to everything, including the pier. It’s a 40 minute walk to the zoo which was perfect. We will definitely be staying again. Thank you. :).

situated in an excellent location. In a quiet side street (with limited private parking) but very close to all amenities - very short walk into town; close to railway and bus station, very close to sea front. we didn't need to use the car during our whole stay. The hosts - Andy and Melissa are very friendly and knew everybody by their first name. Nothing is too much trouble! The room was very clean and comfortable and equipped to a high standard. They have thought of everything you may need!! Breakfast was very good with wide variety and choice. Just need to fill in your request form for breakfast the night before. All in all an excellent stay and would definitely recommend.

Great location close to everything. Warm welcome from Andy and his lovely lady. Onsite parking. Comfy bed. Room very clean with everything you could want in it including an iron Toiletries supplied. Small but well appointed en suite Lots of information about the local area and things to do. Outstanding breakfast cooked to order Lots of choices. Got the feeling nothing was too much trouble and everything done with care and attention to detail Plates and cutlery in the dining room if you wanted to bring in a takeaway

Only minor issue Shower could be a bit variable early in the morning

Merritt House is a real gem - we were very lucky to find it as our flights had been cancelled so we were suddenly thrown into finding a beach holiday at short notice - from the beginning, the owners' Melissa and Andy couldn't have been better hosts - booking was easy and the pre-registration information we were given was perfect. The location is excellent being only a very short walk to the seafront and at the nicest part of Paignton near the harbour and walkable to other beaches and gardens. They have free parking which is brilliant for a small car but there is plenty of road parking as well and Melissa will give you locations of other parking if needed. The B&B was lovely - nicely decorated and our twin room was facing the rear but very clean and comfortable with good beds, and a shower with lots of attention to detail. There is a fridge in the dining room which we were encouraged to use - wonderful as we arrived at the start of the heatwave. Melissa and Andy were brilliantly helpful and so friendly it felt like home from home.. Breakfast was the best I think we have ever had anywhere - you choose what you want the night before and when you arrive in the dining room they then bring your choice freshly prepared - a bonus for us as if you arrive at the end of service often there is only a poor selection often cooked hours ago - we tried all the dishes and were not disappointed and the fruit salad was the best I have ever had at a hotel... you are only a short walk to the town centre and restaurants. and the pubs around the harbour are great and also do food. they even let us leave our luggage use a shower after check out as we went to the beach for our last day We really couldn't have wished for more - such good value for money. On arrival Andy welcomed us ,showed us to our rooms& explained everything we needed to know, it was my husbands 60th birthday and in our room they put a bottle of wine & glasses along with a lovely card on the dressing table also a birthday banner across the bed , I thought that was a lovely touch, as I only mentioned that we would arrive late because its was his birthday, everywhere was only a couple of minutes walk away, shops beach train/bus station, would recommend merrit b&b to everyone

The breakfast was wonderful . Marc and Julie were fantastic hosts . I would not hesitate to recommend them to future holiday makers , and I will return on my next visit to Paignton .

There wasn’t anything that could have been improved on , as everything was first class.
