Brilliant location, just a short walk away from the cathedral and the castle. Super friendly, helpful staff. The room was clean and comfortable. It was initially quite cold in the room when we arrived, but after speaking to the lady at reception, she immediately got it sorted. We had a lovely stay and would definitely stay here again.

£10 for overnight onsite parking is a little steep, considering we had already paid for accommodation. Parking should really come as part of the stay, in my opinion. I was, however, very pleased that the hotel allowed us to park all the next day for only £6. This is much cheaper than the pay and display.

The best thing about the Gordon House Hotel is it's location. It is literally the other side of the road to Rochester Cathedral, right on the high street. The hotel itself seems rather basic, but everything was clean. We had a cheaper room hence the awful view. I understand that some rooms have a view of the Cathedral. The bed was comfy. The bathroom was clean. The extractor fan was noisy and didn't appear to extract anything but it only came on when you turned the bathroom light on. Minimum noise from outside. Didn't try breakfast so can't comment on that. The bar area looked nice. Would stay here again.

Replace the noisy and ineffective extractor fan.

Great location in the High Street of Rochester, with many small shops and cafes. No food is served on the premises, which is not a problem at all as there is a good variety of cafe's and restaurants along the High Street. Costa's do a delicious chocolate frappe and is only a 3 min walk away. Morley's Bakery make a delicious Kentish 'Gypsy Tart' which was a highlight for me as it took me back to my childhood. The Gordon House Hotel is right across the road from Rochester Cathedral which is just beautiful. Also, the bed, doona and pillows were heavenly in comfort. Room 10 is a beautiful room.

What could have been better - a larger sized shower with a smaller shower head. Room 10 is a beautiful room though.

Ideally located on the historic High Street and very near to the Cathedral and Castle. Perfectly placed for quaint shops and various places to eat, offering a variety of cuisines. The Gordon Fish & Chip Shop next door is also owned by them. From the street, the building looks unassuming until you walk through the front door into a building full of character, that comes with age. A warm welcome was given upon arrival. Check-in was straightforward and car parking was available in their private car park at the rear. The key card allowed access to both my room and the entrance doors (front and rear). My room was at the back of the property on the first floor. It was comfortable with a safe, iron, ironing board, desk top fan, TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Beside one of the twin beds was a radio alarm clock with USB charging points. The bathroom was small but practical with complimentary toiletries, shaving point, shower, hand basin and toilet.

The traffic noise seemed loud during the early hours of the morning, due to traffic revving up on the main road. There wasn't currently a restaurant on site but breakfast was available if you wanted it (I chose to eat elsewhere). There was a bar but it wasn't open whenever I walked past reception, perhaps due to it being midweek.

We were unfamiliar with Rochester, unable to find the hotel’s parking, so were parked in the narrow one way street while checking in and getting directions from the receptionist, (who was friendly and gave detailed instructions for parking). The hotel is historic so does not have a lift. We are getting older, so managing stairs was somewhat difficult but the rooms were very pleasant clean, and comfortable. The hotel is situated close to the Cathedral, restaurants, shops, and the city’s many Dickensian connections.

The staff are so friendly and the hotel has got so much character. Centrally located in the high street. It has to be the quietest hotel I've ever stayed in. You are made to feel at home the minute you walk through the door.

Shower is a bit on the small side but I'm not the smallest of people so to a "Normal" size person it may be ok. but realistically I'm only filling this bit in because they have asked me to in this survey :-)

Very conveinently situated near the castle and for the many public houses and resteraunts. Very quiet in the hotel, enabling a good nights sleep.

If i was being negative, it would be about the few steps to watch out for on the ground floor level and if you are an older person, no lift means climbing a couple of flights of stairs to the top rooms. But being an older building, you must allow for this little inconvenience.

This hotel is charming and in the perfect location to explore the Rochester area. It is quiet, the rooms are comfy and clean. This is an old building, and privately run, and with that in mind, it is in excellent condition. But it won't be perfect, and I would encourage visitors to have reasonable expectations. If you do, this is a more than satisfying place to stay. Also, the breakfast was delicious and the dining room is lovely.

Our only issue was that the temperature of the shower water was stuck on very hot. However, the staff were quick to provide the key for another room for use of the shower. The only reason we weren't moved to the other room was that we needed two twin beds. We found this solution satisfactory, and handled promptly.

The room was lovely and comfortable and had a lovely view of the cathedral. Unfortunately, because we stayed mid-week, the restaurant was not open (it is open at weekends only) so we did not eat at there. As here are many restaurants and cafes nearby this wasn't a problem. The location is excellent. Everything of interest is just a short walk from the hotel, with the cathedral and castle being a 2/3 minute walk away. We also really liked the fact that the hotel has its own private car park. It made parking so much easier and more convenient.

The stairs up to our room (we were on the top floor (3rd)) was a bit of a slog, especially with luggage. I don't think there was a lift at the hotel although we didn't enquire to be honest. We would stay on the top floor again (the same room would be nice) so the stairs couldn't have been that bad!

The Gordon Hotel is in a great location to explore historic Rochester, you really cant get much closer to the cathedral! The rooms although a little small were very clean and the shower was good. The breakfast was very good and the staff / family running the place really were super helpful and friendly.

The hotel is looking a little tired in some places, but if you take into account the friendly staff, good breakfast, great location and price its hard to beat
