I felt the hotel overall and the room I was in (809) could have been cleaner and is in need of some TLC/especially in the bathroom. The receptionist who checked us in was friendly, polite, helpful and professional, we received a very warm welcome and our rooms were next to each other as I had requested if possible. The breakfast was ok but we did have to wait half an hour for it. The toaster was o LH toasting on one side so that does need attention. Overall, a nice stay and would stay there again.

As I mentioned above, the rooms are in need of some redecoration. The net curtain in room 809 has seen better days and wasn’t fitted for the window. There was also a smell of smoke every time I went in there, as though someone had been smoking, even though there’s no smoking signs everywhere and a smoke alarm in the room.

This is our 2nd visit here and has become our first choice when visiting relatives in Medway. The staff are friendly and immediately attend to special requests, parking is easy (providing you remember to enter your car registration!), the room has everything you need and is clean. We liked the large seating area on the ground floor that allowed us to spend the evening with our son and daughter-in-law, who were visting the hotel at the same time. The breakfast options give you a reasonable amount of freedom of choice, without the start to the day getting boring. The location is easy to reach by car and a short walk from a choice of restaurants in Gillingham town centre (for a culinary adventure, we recommend de Honourables Nigerian food).

We preferred the room that we had first time around. We got a standard double and a single bed instead of the king-sized bed that we had previously. The fixed shower head takes getting used to. The continental breakfast needs freshening up (e.g. with a slice or two of lettuce, tomato or cucumber)

The room was clean and was actually 2 bedrooms which I was not expecting. It was clean and comfortable if a little dated. The bathroom was fine and shower worked well. It's location is ideal for exploring the RE museum - which is excellent well worth a full days visit. It is also within walking distance of the historic dockyard (but the 101 bus is also an option). This is also worth a full day.

The hotel is housed in an old building, formally a NAAFI building. It is therefore of old construction and is not as insulated against noise as a modern building and road noise has increased greatly. It is therefore subject to noise.

Great location, just on edge of town. Plenty of greenery, trees & open spaces. Breakfast service and choice was absolutely spot on. Never got too busy. Hotel was totally clean & tidy, small courtyards to sit out in the sun. Bathroom was spotless and everything worked like it should (no dodgey plumbing here :-). Lots of exotic fish tanks (must be the owners thing...). Car parking available. Lift to all floors. Tea and coffee, the usual little things that make a stay enjoyable. Within walking of Chatham Naval Docks, Town Centre & Rochester on the Medway.

A bath is always a welcome addition for them that like a soak. Shower was just fine on this occasion.

I always rate the King Charles Hotel 10 as its exceptional value. Been staying there for well over 12 years so always happy to return. The staff are always friendly and professional. It's clean, the breakfast is good - toast, cereals, fruit, GF & veggie options plus a good variety of cooked food or continental breakfasts. The location, for us, is ideal as children & grandkids live in Gillingham, so only 5 or so miles away. The rooms have extra blankets and duvets for colder days - not that we need them as well as tea, coffee making facilities, free wifi and TV. Some rooms have disabled facilities with walk in shower suitable for wheelchairs as well as rooms with adjoining doors for families. There are also larger family rooms, so it is very accommodating. Plus, for us it's DOG FRIENDLY SO 10/10.

The rooms for us are quite warm and the pillows are a tad hard (my fault for not bringing my own). The breakfast is usually very good but this weekend, dad's and husband's bacon & poached eggs were overcooked & hash browns too soft, but still super VFM.

Check in was quick and easy Room was clean airy and comfortable Wet Room was well accessible for my chair with low level shower and foldable shower seat and useful retractable bars for the toilet Ordered Room service which came swiftly and hot portions were very generous and well presented as if it were gourmet meal Family friendly and bonus pet friendly which was great because even our assistance dogs were able to holiday they didn't have to be vested all the break so they could relax too! Would certainly stay again!

Although parking is available I think that more disabled (blue badge) parking could be made available as the normal parking spaces were difficult to get my wheelchair out and I had to park at the very back (quite a way from reception entrance) and i still got "sandwiched in" (I have a side entrance wav with ramp) I could see that a lot of refurbishment was going on during our stay, so I do hope that parking for disabled people is one thing that will be changed during the refurbishment

Very helpful when I accidentally left an item there, they found it quickly via the cleaning staff. They kept it for me in reception until a family member could collect it days later.

As you drive into a large car park from the road a sign clearly using an arrow points to King Charles hotel. But you come off the road into a open car park used by many drivers so you end up driving around looking for the entrance for the actual hotel. One can see the hotel in the distance but the entrance on the right is somewhat obscured by what looks like a barrier or bollards within eye view. It’s only when one actually drives completely over to this right hand corner you come across the entrance.

The room was spacious and clean and beds where comfy, plenty of tea, coffee and milk etc. The location was quiet enough to sleep with window open which I like. Staff where polite and Restaurant was good. Cooked breakfast made to order whilst you had your cereal and coffee.

The rooms where a little dated. You could remove some of the pine especially the big pine headboard on the wall as I knocked my head on that. TV remote had no back and didn't look that clean on close inspection (most hotels these appreciate that TV remotes transmit germs).

Pleasant hotel. Clean, comfortable room with large en suite bathroom. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Bar and lounging area with books available for guests. Dog friendly, which is always a bonus.

Entrance to the parking section was through a rather scruffy, disused area which appeared to be undergoing demolition. Dining room was very noisy at dinner as staff were moving chairs and tables from a coach party. Rather like chalk on a blackboard but considerably louder! I was charged £1 extra for some chopped chillies on my Chilli con Carne/nachos, which seemed a bit mean. Breakfast poached egg had a very unpleasant taste as vinegar had been added to the cooking water (the need for vinegar is a myth and is unnecessary.)

Practical acceptable and functional. A few areas noted eg wallpaper peeled off the bedroom wall, sides of tables in the dining area not cleaned properly, curtains in same area look disheveled. Overall it was most acceptable. Bed comfortable and clean. Towels a little jaded but acceptable. Friendly helpful staff and breakfast was good. The veggie sausage not nice and I would save money by eliminating the pretend bacon and buy a better sausage or replace the sausage and bacon with spinach and mushrooms? Just a thought. Thank you.
