An amazing transformation over the years. I haven't visited Chatham for 15 years so to see how this little sports pub has turned into an amazing, comfortable, friendly hotel/restaurant is amazing. Staff are very friendly and will go above and beyond to help you. I tried the breakfast and was blown away. The room service adds a personal touch for any introverted guests. The hotel is next to a co-op for casual food shopping and a quality fish and chip shop should you want a slice of Kent-ish traditionalism. The food is amazing and is cooked with real love. I stayed in room 12 which overlooks the marina with a large balcony. The room is generously sized with a beauty ensuite bathroom (bath and shower). The windows are huge and let the light in. The room is very quiet and even on the weekend you would be pressed to hear the restaurant.

The ONLY tiny complaint I have is the Wifi. It uses the Shepherd Neame free wifi where you have to sign into it using a social media account before it works. This means that you can not use the smart tv features on the TV directly. If they had their own local wifi for guest they it would then allow guests to use the streaming services without hooking up a laptop via HDMI cable.

Delighted with our stay at this Hotel. Comfortable room with a great view over the marina basin. Very friendly and efficient staff. Lovely breakfast and of course the rooms are above a pub! We ate in the restaurant for 3 consecutive evenings and thought the food was both very good and reasonably priced. Finally, the location is ideal for visiting Chatham Historic Dockyard - about a 10 minute walk.

The room was rather warm…but it was 32 degrees outside - the hottest day of the year so far. No air conditioning however a fan was present in the room and there was a light breeze from the river.

Food was excellent for both evening meal and breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had a table overlooking The Meadway looking at the boats.

I stated that I had a disability and said I had help. Our room had steps to get from the internal door to the actual room. A very deep bath with an overhead shower, which is great if you are abled bodied, but this meant I couldn’t have a shower and didn’t bring face cloths to have a strip wash. We booked well in advance. Was told at reception that the room had been booked for long term two weeks ago, yet we had booked in July. Lesson learnt - if one has disability state that shower over bath is not accessible for person with disability at the time of booking.

We were pleasantly surprised by our stay at The Ship and Trades. The bed was comfortable, the room was very pleasant and all the staff we encountered were excellent. Very friendly and professional. This is a very good option for accommodation in the area but be aware that the kitchen closes quite early.

The bath/shower controls were very peculiar and neither my husband or myself could figure out how they worked. The shower was over the bath so you had to step into the bath in order to use it. A 'non-slip'mat was provided to stand on in the bath but it felt slippery - and, because, of the difficulty in using the controls, the bath filled. This isn't a good enough reason for not booking - but I would request instructions before you try to use it.

Lovely decor, great rooms with tea & coffee, biscuits, nice little toiletries provided. excellent restaurant / bar downstairs. Amazing food! Lovely outside seating overlooking the boats. Very friendly staff who went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. Great atmosphere. Co-op next door for all essentials you might need in a pinch.

No AC in the rooms. I stayed during a particularly hot and humid time and it was boiling! Every room has a very efficient Dyson fan provided which really helped. This is the ONLY thing that wasn’t perfect.

The room we booked had beautiful views and a lovely spacious balcony - it was pouring during our stay though so we didn’t get to enjoy that. The bed and pillows were super comfy and we both got a great night’s sleep. It’s great having the restaurant and bar right downstairs and both were excellent.

The rooms are gorgeous but very small. Two suitcases in there means you’re jostling for space. The bathroom is also beautiful but I find handheld shower heads incredibly annoying. Particularly the ones like they have in these bathrooms that never seem to adjust properly or sit steady and do little more than shoot water at the wall behind you. Your only option is to hold them to shower, which is tedious. While the room was gorgeous and had good facilities I do think it was overpriced.

I liked the little touches in the room - bathroom toiletries etc, and the provisions of tea including a mix of herbal, coffee machine and pods, hot chocolate, cookies, still & spring water etc and the slippers on the bed. The breakfast was fantastic and restaurant so pleasant with good views

Only one gripe I had is we paid top money for a lovely room, but the main wall that we looked at had marks and paint scraps and chips (the TV wall) and needed a good touch up - it looked dirty and let the room down - otherwise all was lovely

Love the location, perfect water setting. Love the rustic feel and theme and how the building works. Bar, seating, outside it is just fantastic. Food was really good, albeit small portions. Bar staff were superb. Room had all mod cons and well presented. The shower needs some more thought, far too low (depending on a persons height) and non adjustable. The temperature was 30plus during my stay and it was hot, there was mention of a fan but not located. Possible that further windows could be made to open? Really enjoyed my brief stay.

As above

The room was very clean and we had a balcony view. We were warmly welcomed. The hotel is located in a wonderful area of Chatham and a short walk only from a great centre with restaurants, shops, etc. We also walked to the historic dockyards of Chatham. The breakfast was wonderful and generous too.

We arrived at 8.30 pm and the restaurant, on a Sunday evening, was already closed. That was a bit of a disappointment, esp. since at the other days it was open until 9 or 10 pm. For travelling guests 8 pm closing time for a restaurant is too early.

Location was spot on for our visit to Historic Dockyard. And with a lovely view of the marina. Choice of food for both breakfast and evening meal (paid for separately) was good. Overall, the atmosphere in the bar and restaurant was lively.

Disappointed that for the price of £405 our room was small - and that was a booking of a deluxe room! The terrace was probably what shifted the price up and on reflection was the bonus. The room was clean though and well stocked.
