Too often people read and take in the bad reviews first. To a point, I did too! I decided to look up the history of the Hotel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Kbu70a5Np8 then my jaw dropped to the floor and I felt I needed to stay even if for just one night to make up my own mind. The Hotel is Huge and the staff first rate.
Nothing wrong with the place! You will Love your stay! TRUST ME!

I liked the views from our room and the breakfast area plus an amazing one from the outside eating areas. The building was grand as in the name with lovely large entertainment roo.s. We went as a couple, and there were kids staying, but we never really heard or seen any, which for my holiday was a bonus even though we went during school holidays. Our dog was happy, and the staff were really pleasent with him. Our roo.m did have sea views, and it was easy to get another night, which we did. The food was nice and again the staff were lovely with lots of local knowledge. It was really clean for the size and age of the hotel. Also, always staff on reception for towels and condiments throughout the night.
Ok, food could be a little better for the price and coffee to be provided on the evening meals would be preferred. Some of the smaller details need a bit of a scan over, eg, dining room lamp shades need dusting, but that's me being an ex hotel manager, so I always see the little things. But nothing a keen eye could get staff to catch up on.

This is the third time we have stayed at the Grand Hotel - on our first visit a few years ago you could sense the lack of investment - however Britannia Hotels have made a real impact on the overall standing of the hotel - even the wonderful frontage has been cleaned - plus, I personally feel that you would struggle to find better value for money in Scarborough - the Breakfast was great and I have not come across a more powerful shower! - the Reception and Breakfast Team were polite and efficient
Yes, there are still areas of improvement - Restaurant not open - plus one of the Bar areas? - however, I am not convinced certain Guests treat the hotel with due respect? - just continue with the investment and value for money theme

The entertainment in the Public bar was very good The Entrance upstairs to the rooms was absolutely beautiful so please to see the up keep of a lovely building been in tip top as they don't make buildings like that anymore I think they owt to be funding for buildings like that to preserve them Because it would be such a shame if we lost it The Bedroom was very clean & fresh just a pity my partner didn't you tell u it was our engagement we was put in a basement room it's was lovely but I would have just like a sea view
The guy from outside come in which I new he wasn't staying as he just looked around an then went back out An didn't look very clean

It's undeniably value for price! Location is fantastic, it's dog friendly, staff were lovely. Everything adequate. Entertainment great! Yes the decor in the rooms are a little dated and yes there are a few delays here and there, the food is lovely for what you pay. If you expect more, then pay more! You can't come to the Grand pay £60 a room and demand the Ritz and 5* luxury. Some people were complaining about silly stuff. Alot of reviews are unjust as I found it to be decent and again the price is pretty cheap. I would return and actually I extended my stay for a further night while I was there.

Great value for money and fantastic location. Ignore all the other bad reviews, I dont really know what people expect for the price. It's clean, comfortable, the staff are nice. I arrived and asked if the room had a bath. It didn't just shower, they changed me to a bath instantly. There is evening entertainment, one room for kids, a different room for adults, discos and singing. There's a big cinema screen and sofas for families, a reasonably priced bar, and a games room. It's fab! I'll keep coming back 👍
WiFi a bit rubbish in the room. But I just took my tablet to reception where it's good to download a load of programmes and films off Netflix to watch in my room instead. No Biggie.

The property is an old building it’s beautiful in the main reception through the building is clean our room was well presented the only down fall I’m not a small lady and the toilet was in an alcove so I was a bit squashed using the loo.. the night before we departed one of the lifts for stuck and so the next morning when everyone was due to check out only one lift was working so it took a while to be able to get the lift and being on the 4th floor wasn’t about to cart all our luggage down the stairs other than that it was a lovely stay and we will most definitely be staying again thank you

The style and aesthetics of the hotel inside where amazing, the food smelt really nice, the view from our bedroom was amazing of the see and with wide window ledges you could sit on them and watch the sea. The TV worked which is always a good sign, bathroom was clean, mattresses were firmer than other hotels ive stayed at, however I personally like. The room was quite old fashioned with massive lampshades which gave me victorian vibes.
There were mysterious stains on the walls, a hand prints and like a cup of liquid or something got thrown at the wall leaving a splatter marking. Walls could definitely do with a bleach, and a few fingerprint markings on the lamp. The hotel could definitely be a higher rating if they had better cleaners and listened to some of the comments that other people have made on their stay.
