Perfect location for all amenities. Lovely vintage hotel.
When we arrived we had no heating in our attic room. Number 327. We mentioned it to reception and was told heating it was on a timer. When we arrived back in later that night it was still cold. I tried ringing reception but on one answered. When we mentioned it again when checking out, was told the heating was not on a timer, but on constant. So, therefore in March, stayed in a cold room. I would like this to be treated as a complaint not a review.

As mentioned in my 10+ reviews for over 3-years staying at the Central Hotel: - the staff is always exceptional, courteous and helpful - the specific preferred rooms I requested were always acknowledged or I was compensated for - front hotel parking is accommodated though it depends on the parking skills of the hotel guests - rooms are always comfortable - Samsung TVs with apps held my interest - great Wi-Fi signal for my work related tasks - excellent location to walk to Scarborough city centre and train station - plenty of current pubs to visit.
As mentioned above, the front hotel parking is very accommodated though it depends on the parking skills of the hotel guests. They never park correctly in the 3-years I’ve been staying here. I now remember but didn’t ask the front desk… One issue I found with my current work trip, I couldn’t locate the HVAC remote control to activate the heating aspect of the overhead HVAC unit. The heating radiators were not heating up at all during my stay this time.

Reception people brilliant; friendly and helpful. The hotel was advertised as dog friendly and indeed was. The boys were made very welcome and the enclosed garden/patio area and park across the road were great for them. The room was very large and comfortable, enough for 2 adults and 2 medium size dogs. The bar area was really pleasant, albeit under used (see below)
There was no food available. They did have information on good places to eat, although that is not always easy with pets. A few take away menu's would help. The hotel could do more to make the lovely bar area and patio a social place that encourages guests in to socialise. Having said the area could be better the actual crescent was lovely. Perhaps a link up with the Crescent Hotel down the road, that does do food and has a good cellar, night time bar with some live music, on occasions to make the Central the day time place and quiet evening place, including light bar snacks (sandwiches, cakes etc.) and the Crescent the night time place, for dinner and livelier times, could be considered. This could help both hotels and guests to enjoy the lovely Crescent area.

From the second we walked through the doors for our third booking with this hotel we are made to feel at home. The reception staff are the best, very polite and friendly. Nothing appears to be too much for them, the hotel should be proud of their staff. The rooms are well serviced and spotlessly clean, the bathroom also. The beds are very comfortable, the central heating was well received with it being March and almost freezing temperatures. I would kill for the shower pressure at home, it definitely blew the cobwebs away, it nearly blew me out of the bath !! It can only be described as invigorating. I wouldn't want to put our Grandkids underneath that water flow, not unless I wanted to blow em clean across the bathroom. The bar area and lounges are furnished beautifully and with a keen eye for luxury. Without a doubt the Central Hotel is the nicest hotel we've visited in England and we have stayed in countless hotels over the years. The hotel is a five minutes walk from the train station, buses for Whitby, Filey and Bridlington. The beach is again only five minutes away, as are the main shopping and bar areas of Scarborough. I hope the owners pass on my comments to the staff and give them the high praise they deserve.
There really isn't anything to dislike about the hotel.

Just had our first stay at the central Hotel has a family and certainly won't be our last, from the minute we walked in we were made extremely welcome, the staff was very friendly and made it obvious they wanted you to enjoy your staff has much has possible, even though we were a bit early our rooms were ready and we were able to take our luggage up to our rooms before we ventured into town. Our rooms had been upgraded to a superior room which were very clean and spacious with welcoming touches such has free toiletries and plenty of tea and coffee and milk, which were all topped up the day after The beds were really big and so comfortable, im not the best at sleeping but had two great nights sleep, whilst we were there, our room was facing the main road and even though there was some traffic it didnt cause any problems and soon quietened down towards late evening .. The hotel was very vintage, much to the pleasure of my youngest sister who is antique mad so loved being shown round by a staff member, sorry we didn't get her name has she was absolutely lovely but will make sure we do on our next visit 😀 Location was perfect, minutes walk to the centre and pubs, shops and restaurants, with the addition advantage of a car park, which there was a £10 charge to but was cheaper than the public car parks nearby. The hotel had plenty of character, and may look a bit tired to some, but to us it was perfect and at a very very reasonable price, we're already planning our next visit
We had no complaints about anything, it was exactly what we wanted and more

On arrival we were upgraded to a suite with balcony. The room was very spacious and nicely decorated. The bathroom was also spacious and clean. Excellent value for the price we paid. The hotel reception was really nice and the bar area too. The location was great for exploring, only a short walk to the sea front. The car park was reasonably priced.
There were some marks on the carpet in places. The bed was 2 mattresses pushed together which we didn't mind, but one of the mattresses seemed quite old as it had sagged at one side so wasn't the comfiest but fine for just 1 night.

The hotel was very quiet, clean and well organised. The staff went above and beyond, nothing was too much trouble. Walking distance for both rail and bus services.

This hotel is ideally located in the centre of Scarborough. It’s a traditionally decorated venue with a country seat feel. Lots of taxidermy in the lounge, with a great bar that’s open until 2am if you can manage it after all the lovely pubs. The staff are so attentive and friendly. They do not serve breakfast but can recommend places to go. Suits us fine as we can have a lie in! Parking is available for £10 a day if you order when booking but was free for us in January - bonus. There’s also public parking if you don’t want to pay that, but I’m not sure if it would be much cheaper elsewhere. Our room was spacious and a really good sized bathroom. The bed was comfy too. We had a decent sized kettle for a brew, compared with those silly travel kettles you often get.
The shower head holder did not work. Never mind, I had a bath which made a nice change.

The location is spot on for everything and over looking a garden which is beautiful. The inside is beautiful, the wood panels and walls beautifully decorated. Our room was beautiful, the bed was very comfortable, and the bath was excellent. The staff were so lovely, always a smile, very, very helpful and just lovely. There's a few bits that might look a little in need of care, but these are all getting sorted as they go along. In all, though,an excellent stay, very relaxing, and we would love to stay again anytime.

We was greeted by a courteous young lady at check in. who was helpful of the questions we had. Unique hotel with the deco from the yesteryear which we particularly like. The Room we had was very spacious and suited our needs. We stayed 2 nights Bank holiday Monday and Tuesday night, the hotel was very quiet and we hardy saw any other guests while we where in and out of the hotel. Location is great with parking available.
The wind was blowing the window and it was slightly knocking. I placed some tissue in the gap and it fixed the problem while we were there. Shower was hard to get the temperature right with the nob been really tight. it was either too hot or too cold
