A Wonderful Stay at The Brunswick Hotel, Shanklin We recently had the pleasure of staying at The Brunswick Hotel, and it was a fantastic experience. This beautiful Victorian building is perched on the cliff path above Shanklin Beach, offering magnificent sea views and a peaceful atmosphere. The location is ideal – just a short walk from Shanklin Old Village, Rystone Gardens, the High Street, and the beach, making it the perfect base to explore the area. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and located at the front of the hotel with uninterrupted sea views. We could see the Luccombe area, Sandown Pier, and Culver Cliff – it was simply stunning. The hotel has successfully blended modern amenities with original period features, creating a stylish and comfortable environment. The bedroom had a lovely shabby chic vibe, and the cleanliness was impeccable. The room attendants did a wonderful job maintaining the space each day. The hotel also offers excellent facilities, including an indoor swimming pool (which we didn’t have the chance to use) and a fun games room with pool and darts, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Breakfast was freshly cooked every day with plenty of options, including yogurt and fresh juices – a great start to each morning. The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and accommodating, making sure all our needs were met. One thing that stood out was the lovely scent of roses in the hotel’s stairways – a small but thoughtful detail that made the atmosphere feel even more welcoming. The communal areas were clean, fresh, and well-decorated with new furniture, blending beautifully with the vintage charm of the building. Don’t forget to pick up a handmade souvenir from the lobby – a lovely way to remember your time at this wonderful hotel.

Everything was fine , Our stay was a true pleasure, and we enjoyed everything from the games room and bar to exploring Shanklin, our home town. We highly recommend The Brunswick Hotel, especially given the recent efforts of the new management to raise the standard of this fantastic property. In an area with many hospitality options, this hotel truly stands out for its quality and attention to detail. It offers amazing value for money, and we look forward to returning on our next trip to the island.

Thank you to Ellie, David, Housekeeping, Cook, Breakfast ladies & Gent you are amazing, very helpful & nothing was too much trouble. We checked in and the room was overlooking the carpark, so popped to reception to see if could change as it was my husbands 50th & wanted it to be special. Ellie was on it and sorted it straight away and the room we had was lovely, overlooking the sea, clean and bright, Room 4. I had looked at other reviews and noticed they mentioned lack of plug sockets, we had 4 in the room, so not a issue and we had brought our own extn lead to charge camera's etc. (Frequent traveller, always take one) Bathroom was clean plenty of towels, tea & coffee making facilities. Dressing gowns, Fan, iron (Don't iron at home not doing it on holiday! haha) coffee machine all in the room. 5G Wifi available. Inside Pool was clean and warm. Location was what I choose this hotel for as it is about 30 mins to a hour in the car to all the tourist attractions, the beach is lovely. We didn't use the bar or evening meal facility, although there was a large group staying and heard they had nothing but praise for the food. Lovely location, Rooms clean & staff amazing Love Sara & David

The only thing I didn't like was other guest being rude to staff and abusing there kindness. You do not have the right to treat people this way no matter how old you are, this couple were in there 70's! It is not acceptable, although the reception staff handled it amazingly, they are a true credit to this hotel x

The history, the location and very welcoming , they are so dog friendly. Felt looked after.

We stayed in the lodge, which was great, had the double room and twin room , the doors opened to the court yard which had a gate so my dog loved it. The only thing I would say is the twin room could do with more plug socket s , and the side table i between the the single beds, as it is an old building we understood about the plumbing, because I am up to the bathroom a lot throughout the night and I was worried about disturbing the other guest, all though no one complained, part from that loved it

This hotel is superbly located above the promenade at Shanklin. The welcome was unbelievable and our dog was treated like a prince, which made the stay completely stress free for us. All the staff were cheerful, friendly and helpful. The gardens are wonderful and dining rooms (dog and dog-free) are spacious and comfortable. The food was excellent and in just the right quantity. The room was well proportioned, light, airy, well maintained and clean. Two swimming pools, outdoor and indoor were an absolute treat. This hotel is seriously punching above its weight and represents superb value for money.

Maybe a small fridge in the room would be good.

The Brunswick was a perfect little quiet hotel for our stay, we stayed either side of the festival dates to enjoy the local area and get well rested in the comfy beds! The pool facilities are amazing, we enjoyed the outdoor pool during some beautiful weather, the staff were really friendly and chatty, the location is quiet and secluded with the beach just a 5 min walk away. The breakfast was banging with a large selection of hot and cold menu items including pastries and fruits! The hairdryer was mini but powerful too for those who dread taking their own hairdryer on trips!

If you're staying on the ground floor you can hear quite a lot that happens in the room above as the floorboards tend to creak quite loudly but its not bad. The doors to the rooms may benefit from a overhead door shutter/closer to minimise the banging which can be heard from neighbouring guests. The rooms offer great comfort although I would recommend a deeper clean of the bathroom such as descaling the shower heads and tiles. Theres not alot of power sockets available so i would recommend an extension cable if you need to charge 2 phones etc

Staff were amazing, pool was good and the food in the restaurant was excellent. Loved the dog who was meeting and greeting us.

Walls are a little thin, we weren't able to sleep because of upstairs people who were up until 00:20 and decided to run around the room. Not really the hotels fault.

The swimming pool was awesome, great size room, comfortable beds, great location. Friendly staff (mostly). The chap behind the bar was a legend.. top bloke and really friendly. Furnishings were stylish and comfortable.

Breakfast selection was a little limited and the quality of cooking was a tiny bit disappointing. But nothing major and it wouldn't stop me going back. One member of staff was a little grumpy, but the rest were amazing. The young lad behind the bar was brilliant, especially with my son. More plugs in the rooms, especially near the bed, would be handy.

Overall this is a great little hotel. Great staff, fantastic location and the breakfast lovely. Also the food in the Horizon Restaurant was top notch. Well presented and very tasty.

The noise on our second night! There was a function downstairs in the restaurant and the DJ was set up right under our room. For 6 hours the music was so loud we couldn’t hear ourselves think let alone talk. I complained at 9pm but nothing happened till 10pm. They need to rethink how they can do events and minimise disruption to paying guests.

Recently refurbished, staff warm, friendly and welcoming. Felt as though you were looked after; a home from home.

If I was being picky (and I’m not) the bedroom we were in felt like it could do with a refurb. But it wasn’t horrible.

Being a former travel company owner, as you can imagine, I’ve stayed in many a hotel. I’m pleased to say I found this gem in the hotel row of Shanklin. The first thing that hits you is the cleanness of the hotel from the exterior to the inside. The friendly atmosphere that’s right from the reception. Once checked in, something happens that you don’t find in many hotels these days. The receptionist shows you to your room—what a refreshing change. A large sitting area with a bar overlooks the English Channel, where you can watch ships sailing past. A huge garden is situated at the front of the property, with plenty of seating to wallow away a sunny afternoon sipping on a cold beer from the bar. With direct access to the Clift footpath that passes in front of the hotel. You will find the first of two swimming pools tucked away in the corner of the garden. This large outdoor pool has chairs and loungers surrounding the enticing blue water. The other pool is inside the hotel and is big for a hotel indoor pool. The room (31) was large, with a double and a single bed covered in clean, fresh quilts. There is plenty of storage space for all your clothes with more hanging room than I’ve seen in a hotel in a long time. An ample-size flat-screen TV hangs from the wall in the corner above the brew-making facilities. Unlike most hotels, this one comes with more tea and coffee than you would need, unlike most hotels that limit you to two sachets of coffee. Breakfast is served from 08:00 and the customer excellence continues. After the usual routine of giving your room number, you are shown to a table by a member of staff who takes your drinks order and brings this to you. Again, unlike many hotels, this is brought to you rather than getting your own from a machine. Breakfast is served fresh from the kitchen.

Only a few small issues, There is no plug near the bed for charging your mobile phone. The wallpaper is starting to come away from the walls. probably not a good idea to have a boiling kettle under all the electric for the TV.
