B+B was located within walking distance from the city centre and a short distance from Shrewsbury cathedral, in a quiet residential area. The interior was immaculate and Louise, the B&B owner, really does walk an extra mile to please the guests- in addition to usual coffee/tea making facilities there was a delicious piece of Lindt chocolate and bottle of water available with a great selection of good quality teas. Louise is a fantastic host - able to provide any info required, kind and attentive at all times. Breakfast choice was great, and additional snacks (cakes etc) available all through the night. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Anton guesthouse B&B and would fully recommend it to all Shrewsbury visitors.

Everything was to my liking, really.

We know Shrewsbury very well.......usually staying for a week @ a lovely location just 5 miles south of the town. This visit was for a shorter term, 3 night, pre Xmas family gathering, focussing on the excellent markets in the Town plus on the way @ Ludlow. Frankly, the Anton & its hosts, Louise & Peter, have created an exceptional business model that combine genuine comfort & care ....its been a pleasure to stay there.

We have stayed in many locations both in the UK & Europe.....the Anton is now very much on our preferred pages..!

Wonderful staff; very informative and pleased to tell us about the area. We liked the room, up on the top floor; small but adequate for the two of us with a velux above both separate beds. Good ensuite bathroom. Easy walk into town over English bridge. Loved Shrewsbury. Breakfast was very good with choices one would expect between cold cereals, oats and muesli and between hot dishes. Good coffee with choices of espresso if desired. The rooms were private and we could not hear guests in adjacent rooms. The house was cute; rooms on 3 levels, but only three lots of guests while we were there.

Parking was out on the street; we found a close spot and were able to leave the car there for our two days at the B&B. We booked late and it was the last room left and so had only the two separate beds; there are rooms with double beds.

A very well located house near to town and with a local convenience store a couple of minutes' walk away. Room was very clean, with a comfortable bed and well-stocked with hot drinks, bottles of water, biscuits, and even two Lindt chocolates. There was lots of choice for breakfast, my eggs florentine was superbly cooked with fresh vegetable ingredients. Louise was a friendly and helpful host. I hope there will be a vacancy next time I need to go to Shrewsbury!

I can't find fault with anything! However, if you are a very light sleeper and tend to either go to bed early evening or sleep-in to late morning please be aware that a railway line runs along the back of the house, and so there is train noise from time to time. As Louise has explained, the trains don't run overnight so they don't affect normal sleeping hours at all. (I'm a light sleeper and enjoyed a great night's sleep there!) [Review edited to give correct information about the train times].

Hosts were very good at their jobs, very attentive too. The bed was divinely comfortable. Breakfast was great! Also, fridge facilities available for guests to use, added to which cutlery, plates, etc., were made available for those guests wishing to eat evening meal in - there's a Chippy across the road, but we brought back salads from the supermarket. Our car was heavily laden, as we were touring, and proprietors allowed us to park in the gated yard, rather that in the street.

Climbing the stairs to our attic room, as I have a bad knee + hip.

We were greeted on our arrival and made very welcome. Our room was on the second floor and accessed by two flights of stairs. However, this was not a problem for us, and understandable, given the age and design of the property. It was inviting and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, and not limited to just cereal or full-English, with options such as avacado and spinach. In addition , there was twenty-four hour access to a choice of homemade cake. Everything was clean and well presented.

The personal touches provided by the owners (Louise and Peter) make staying at this guest house a home from home experience. Our room was upgraded on arrival which was a lovely bonus and was clean and comfortable. The selection at breakfast was good and freshly cooked for you each morning. The breakfast room was available to guests during the day to use the cutlery and plates should you wish to order a takeaway or bring food back rather than eating out. We did this one night. There was use of the fridge and a microwave as well. Louise also likes to bake so there is always free cake available. I tried a slice of her chocolate and banana cake which was very nice. Louise always referred to us by name which was another nice personal touch. The location was a simple walk into the town centre which took you past Shrewsbury Abbey. Would stay at this Guest House again.

Some of the furniture was a bit dated but didn’t affect the stay. The TV was a tad small in the room however we only ready had it on for background noise and didn’t affect us watching it. I know Louise is in the process of doing some upgrades. Neither of these things would prevent us from booking to stay here again.

The breakfast and range of choice was first class. A wonderful selection to cater for every possible taste was available including vegan and vegetarian options. Where possible local produce was supported. Even the organic porridge oats were from a local supplier. There were many additional lovely touches including some very tempting home baked treats which were available on a help yourself basis in the dining room as well as use of the microwave which was an added bonus. Louise could not have been more welcoming and accommodating of any particular requests and was always on hand if needed creating a very warm and relaxed ambience. The location was good and the town accessible with a short walk.

Nothing at all!

We had a fabulous stay at this guest house , Louise was a fabulous Host , breakfast was very good , the room was lovely and the bed was super comfy - I always have issues with beds in guest houses - but not this one . There were bath robes and slippers which was a fabulous bonus. We loved the period features and vintage furniture which is why I chose it . Its a 10 minute walk into Shrewsbury and you can park in the road outside the guest house - which was another reason for booking. We will definitely book here again - this is now our go to Guest house when visiting Shrewsbury . Highly recommend .

That we had to go home !

The host Louise was lovely and couldn't do enough for us. The room was quiet and comfortable, the en-suite super clean and the breakfast was just great. The location was good and not too far if you wanted to walk into town.

Nothing, really - except that in these days of online connectivity the room might have benefitted from a USB charging point or two. A minor point (which we mentioned to Louise on checking out and she thought it was something she was already considering doing)...
