The bedrooms were comfortable, breakfast was good (except it was missing the hashbrowns and black pudding for a complete english breakfast) good access to facilites

Staff didn’t show much attitude. They don’t explain things properly causing us to figure stuff out on our own and even when we say thank you they never say you’re welcome

Room was very comfortable with two balconies and a view of the harbor. Staff was attentive and the food was very good.

After checkout, it took over 2 hours to get a taxi! I don’t expect the hotel to provide transportation, but I do feel they should inform guests of this “known problem on sailing days”.

Great location for Southampton - only a few minutes walk to harbour and city centre. We booked three rooms as a group and the hotel went the extra mile before we arrived to make sure our rooms were close to each other on the same floor - thank you! The junior suite had lots of space and a separate lounge and a balcony with a view over the water.

Our overall experience was really good - we liked the place. But some aspects are desperately in need of an update - for example the shower in the suite was just a tired-looking system over the bath, rather than a more modern walk-in shower. Balcony doors were really difficult to open too. Just needs a bit of TLC to make it live up to the luxury aspiration and cost. Staff were friendly and great but the team were let down by the reception we received in the spa/swimming pool on our first visit.

You couldnt do more. Staff were amazing and attentive but not to much. Nothing was to much trouble. Location is amazing and the food was really nice, especially the breakfast. Evening staff at the bar was really good, came to check if everything was all good and if i needed anything extra. Also the cleaning staff are fantastic. The room was stocked with teas every evening and made every morning when got back from work in the morning shift. The cleaning staff are the hidden true talents behind closed doors. Luxury hotel with a nice location, staff really nice but not over the top which is good.

The twin room I had was a great size, the tea and coffe was stocked very well which was nice. It had a mini fridge and both sparkling and still water for an evening drink and the shower was good. The TV was fantastic being able to cast my own shows direct to it, I haven't seen that before at other hotels but I really appreciated being able to do that and the wifi was solid to do it without any issues. The location was fine for my needs, it is right in the middle of Southampton by the ports (saw some cruise ships) and it was a short walk to the Westquay shopping area with all the food places as well as shopping and cinema. The breakfast was decent but it's your standard buffet style hot and cold breakfast that you would find when staying in most hotels. The evening meal we had was also nice and the service was good. The spa area was lovely. They had nice changing rooms and the pool was lovely and at a great temperature to swim around in. The hot tub, sauna and steam room were in good condition and made it a very relaxing stay.

The evening meal dessert of the chocolate cake wasn't hot at all and was mildly warm which wasn't great.

The Junior Suites are excellent with superb facilities. We had some bubbles on ice awaiting us on arrival with a hand written card from the management which was an unexpected lovely touch. Room includes boxed chocolates, tinned cookies, bottled still & sparkling water, excellent pod coffee & machine and two small bottles of white wine. Bed was large & exceptionally comfortable with good quality bed linen. The food at the hotel restaurant is of a very high quality. Expensive, but worth it. And excellent service.

It was winter, so not an issue, but we wondered if there was a problem with air conditioning as there was a large tower fan in the room. Parking at the adjacent car park is chargeable. It would be better if this was included.

For the first time in my life I was offered a room upgrade so we got a balcony room which was lovely as we were able to watch the sun set over the water. We also received another freebie which I won't give details of as I don't know if it's the norm or not but it was really appreciated. I made a point of thanking the staff personally on our way out that evening. The room was big, with great facilities. Tea, coffee pods, water and a mini fridge. Shower was powerful and hot and the bed was huge and super comfy. The hotel itself was quiet so I got an excellent night's sleep. Would absolutely stay here again. Didn't get time to use the gym or pool so will arrive earlier next time.

Drinks in the bar were a bit pricey but the prices were clearly listed. It was table service and I noticed our waiter clicked the 'no' option himself when deciding on tipping which I appreciated as we only stopped by for one drink.

Breakfast was excellent. There was so much to choose from, was served in the big restaurant. Staff was friendly and helpful, we had to wait about 20min extra before we could get our room, but it didn't bother us, and then we got upgraded without even asking, so that was a nice touch. We could see the big cruise ship from a distance from our room, which was very nice. We had a balcony and there was wine for us in the room. The pool was warm, and the sauna was clean and fresh. Nice big lobby. Excellent location, very close to the big shopping centre and high street.

It might have been a bit outdated in some places, like the toilet door. And something about the pool area and the changing room. But it didn't really bother us that much. We had a great stay!

We stayed in 2 different room types and both were spacious and comfortable. The rooms had Nespresso coffee machines, complimentary water and hand lotion which is always appreciated and makes a big difference! The corridors to the rooms smelt great, nice use of air freshener. The pool was great and well maintained.

We stayed one night and changed to a bigger family room for another two nights. It would have been nice to have been either accommodated with a late check out or early check in as we were only rooms but unfortunately this was able. One male staff member didn’t explain this sympathetically whilst another female colleague explained it was due to housekeeping staff shortages. Understandable but a shame. A few leaky buckets spotted in the bar area, which is never a good look unfortunately.

Breakfast superb. A short walk from the hotel to the main West Quay centre and High Street restaurants. Car Parking extremely easy and reasonably priced. Restaurant food very good in the evening.

Would have preferred a walk-in shower as we are elderly and have difficulty getiing in and out of a bath. Also, when we asked the concierge to order us a taxi he did not tell us to wait outside the hotel entrance for the cab and we mistakenly waited inside the hotel, leading the taxi driver to think we no longer needed him; this could have been serious as we had a restaurant booking but fortunately the hotel receptionist came to the rescue and arranged another taxi
