Love the location of the Grapes, excellent for pre cruise stay. Staff were so friendly and helpful and the room was comfortable and very clean. Lovely facilities for the price. Bit of noise in the night but it was a Friday so that was to be expected. Didn't bother me a bit slept like a log.
I read about the stairs and knew what I was getting into but they are steep. The bar staff helped bring my case up both flights but I brought it down myself the next day and I was in a sweat. Best to pack an overnight bag and carry that up, they'll keep your bigger suitcase behind the bar if they can, and save yourself the hassle.

Great location. We were booked on a cruise and was able to walk to our terminal with two large roller luggage’s. Location was great amongst hotels n restaurants. Facilities were nice and clean.
All good for short stay. No complaints.

Great location and vibe, super soft and comfortable bed, room was spacious with some chairs under the window, and the bathroom was great (walk in shower). Was really cool to stay at this pub, it’s along what I think is the main stretch of pubs/bars in Southampton so there are heaps of local eateries on the street which was very convenient (discount on a breakfast place across the street!). About a 5min to the bus stops, you can catch a bus straight to the main train station, and pretty much anywhere else in town. 15min walk to Seacity Museum if you’re interested! This specific pub has a small piece of the history linked to some of the Titanic crew, you can read about it at the museum and there is a silver plaque on the outside of the pub which gives you some more detail, cool to learn about! The staff were so lovely, showing us up to our room and even holding our luggage for us for 2 hours before check-in when we arrived early. If we come back to Southampton we will definitely be staying again!
Nothing we didn’t like! We thought the wifi could have been a little better, but also we had a data package so no big deal, and the wifi still worked for basic things. It does get noisy at nights as the street is lined with pubs, we thought it was a great atmosphere but just a heads up for prospective guests.

Good location near the docks, walking distance to a good amount of food options and convenience stores. Definitely loud in the evenings, but it all packed up at a reasonable time and was nice background noise, in my opinion. Room was tidy and well set up relative to what I expected. Sheets were surprisingly soft. Didn't really bother us aside from having a large suitcase to carry, but the staircase up is quite narrow.
Toilet definitely had issues, would take multiple flushes just to clear the bowl and took quite a long time to refill for each flush. There was also some sort of loud squeaking noise from a door hinge or something in the hall - seemed like it would go off any time a door or anything downstairs was closed. That wad more disruptive than the business noise from the alley/pubs.

The property is located in the city center, making the commute much easier. Also, thank you for upgrading my room-it was very kind of you. The room itself was spacious and lovely. The staff was very polite and helpful. Thank you!
The noise was really bad until 2 am, and only then was I able to fall asleep. I mean, they do warn you in advance that it will be noisy, but the issue is that the window is old. If it were replaced, it would make a huge difference, making the stay much more comfortable. Also, it was a bit cold at night, so an extra blanket would have been helpful. Otherwise, everything was great!

The location turned out to be perfect for us, as we were completing a mystery guide puzzle book about the Titanic and the final clue was actually in the pub, so our tour of Southampton couldn't have ended more conveniently. Tuesday night was free pool night, so we played pool all evening in the bar. The room was clean and very reasonably priced.
The bathroom was very cold. so I was in and out of the shower in very short order. There was some sort of confusing discount arrangement for drinks in the bar. Evidently, we were entitled to special prices during Happy Hour and 10% off as guests. This sounded great, but the actual price we paid after discount was pretty much the normal price for two drinks. I'd rather have just been charged a fair price in the usual way.

Our room was a couple of floors above the pub so it was quiet. There was a low din from the pub and the street but it was more lulling than disruptive. However if you have zero tolerance for any sound whatsoever, you should probably stay elsewhere. We are not bar people, but we did go into the pub for a beer and soda to take with us back to the room. The pub was spectacular, the patrons kept bursting into songs that they’d sing loud but very much in tune with each other. It was wonderful, I’ve never seen anything like it and it is my best memory of England.
The stairs are narrow and steep and difficult to carry luggage on. But we were aware of this beforehand. You’ve got to take the bad with the good.

I’ve known the Grapes for many years as I used it frequently when I worked in Southampton. I live in the Isle of Wight, and the Grapes is very close to the Re Funnel ferry terminal.
Nothing really, I’ve always enjoyed the establishment. I didn’t get a chance too have a drink as the Pub closed at 11pm, but I did not arrive until about 10, as the ferries from the Island kept getting cancelled due to the Stormy weather and very high winds. My room facilities were very good, and my taxi arrived on time at 7am as booked. All good, many thanks indeed.

Great location on Oxford Road for bars and restaurants. Nice basic room with everything I needed. Water supplied which was a nice touch and plenty of tea and coffee. I was out at a conference, so it was really somewhere to sleep for a good price. Met all expectations.
Nothing really all was as expected. Clean and comfortable. Room was a little noisy, not so much with the bar noise, which staying above a bar was expected, but neighbouring room coming in after midnight and having a shower could cause issues for some.

Fantastic stay! We stayed at The Grapes for one night before our cruise from Southampton docks and it was amazing. The staff are so friendly that we ended up staying there all day and night! The bed was so comfortable and the price was incredibly reasonable for the area. The location is fantastic on a quiet street lines with bars and restaurants with tables outside which we made use of with the weather. We are already talking about planning another trip to Southampton to stay here again.
