Great location on Oxford Road for bars and restaurants. Nice basic room with everything I needed. Water supplied which was a nice touch and plenty of tea and coffee. I was out at a conference, so it was really somewhere to sleep for a good price. Met all expectations.

Nothing really all was as expected. Clean and comfortable. Room was a little noisy, not so much with the bar noise, which staying above a bar was expected, but neighbouring room coming in after midnight and having a shower could cause issues for some.

Perfect location for us as was close to the all the birthday celebrations that we were attending. Lovely clean room, overlooking Oxford street, crisp white bed linen, good sized bathroom. The electric shower was a challenge to get at the correct temperature. The staff were amazing. My motorbike was stolen while we were in Southampton, (nothing to do with The Grapes) and they could not have been nicer, more sympathetic and helpful to my wife when she had to return to pack and vacate the room while I dealt with the theft and police. Many many thanks to you for this wonderful customer service.

Our only negative was that the room wasn't cleaned the day after we checked in so I only had 1 teabag left and dirty mugs for our morning tea on the last day. Not really a biggy though.

Great location, imagine it's a buzzing little street at busier times. Very clean room, well-maintained and fresh decor. Really comfortable, slept excellently. Great pub, and you get a discount on drinks.

All good with the stay - only mentionable thing is little confusion over breakfast: I was told that as they don't provide breakfast, I could get a discount over the road (XOXO). At XOXO they knew nothing about this, and I didn't get the discount. This isn't a complaint, as that would've just been a bonus - I'd have gone there for breakfast anyway (really good!) Just confused, maybe slightly embarrassed 🤷🏻‍♀️

The central location was a great benefit to this accommodation. An added bonus is the 10% discount residents get at the pub. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. The pub had a good selection of real ale on hand pump as well as a variety of largest and spirits. Food could be ordered from next door and they would deliver it into the pub for you. The can of fresh water, tea, coffee in the room was very welcome after the drive down from Manchester.

The room was showing some wear and tear with the external wall of the head too showing it’s age. Honestly it was not an issue though.

Loved the quaint decor. Although a very old building it was fine. Not noisy at all . While I had 2 flights of stairs with luggage, staff came to the rescue. Great to have the pub downstairs and let me taking my drink up to my room .

There was a musty smell at the start of the stairs. Maybe air freshener would help. My room shower hose seemed to be a little broken but still worked . No food available at all. But lots of eateries next door and across the path

The hotel itself is a bit tired but very nice. It’s located over the pub, so expect that it will be noisy until 22. But I need to state that during the night it was very quiet. In the room I stayed there was no sound proof from the street at all. The room was quite cosy, had everything you need for a stay, bed was comfortable and clean.

Poor sound isolation from the street before 22.

To be honest this is an exceptionally good place to stay. From the welcome, signing in at bar, being shown to the room, to departure the owner and staff were helpful, interested and rightly proud of their Inn. The room was spotlessly clean and had everything you'd need and more...from a good comfortable bed down to good toiletries to hot water bottles! Plus a view onto Oxford Street. I'm 75 and was happy to climb the stairs but as is made quite clear in the ads there's no lift One of the very best places I've stayed at. Plus the fabulous "The Grapes" pub and the "feel" of Oxford Street. Howard

I could not fault anything.

Location was perfect however if you are a light sleeper I wouldn't recommend as it is on a main noisy street. Staff were accommodating & housekeeping was lovely. You also have a few eateries surrounding so good location again.

Fortunately it was a knackering 2days so I was super tired & sleep deep. I can see how if clients are light sleepers the noise levels were very apparent so maybe have double glazing if possible to avoid this.

Nice pub with some decent sized rooms attached. Rooms were nicely insulated from the noise of the pub/street. Very friendly staff. Comfortable bed and good shower. Located on a very nice and lively street with lots of restaurants and bars.

No lift so a bit of a trek up the stairs if you have luggage - though, in fairness, they are very open and honest about this when you book. The pub itself is a 'sports pub' with seven screens and can get pretty rowdy when a big game is on, which might not be to everyone's tastes, though I very much enjoyed it! No kitchen in the pub, but lots of places to eat nearby, so no problem.

The staff were extremely accommodating to our needs, since we were unable to check in until late into the evening we rang up and were told that we should be able to collect the room key earlier than the check in time. When we arrived the current occupants hadn't yet checked out, we couldn't stick around so a lovely cleaner went above and beyond to help us out. When we got to our room after a long day we were absolutely amazed at the attention to detail, chocolates on the bed, towels, a huge bathroom with small bottles of complimentary bathroom products, tea and coffee facilities - complete with takeaway cups for the morning. The beds were lovely and comfortable too. We absolutely loved our stay at The Grapes and if we find ourselves in Southampton again then we wouldn't hesitate to re-book. Thank you!!
