Love the location of the Grapes, excellent for pre cruise stay. Staff were so friendly and helpful and the room was comfortable and very clean. Lovely facilities for the price. Bit of noise in the night but it was a Friday so that was to be expected. Didn't bother me a bit slept like a log.
I read about the stairs and knew what I was getting into but they are steep. The bar staff helped bring my case up both flights but I brought it down myself the next day and I was in a sweat. Best to pack an overnight bag and carry that up, they'll keep your bigger suitcase behind the bar if they can, and save yourself the hassle.

Great location. We were booked on a cruise and was able to walk to our terminal with two large roller luggage’s. Location was great amongst hotels n restaurants. Facilities were nice and clean.
All good for short stay. No complaints.

Our room was a couple of floors above the pub so it was quiet. There was a low din from the pub and the street but it was more lulling than disruptive. However if you have zero tolerance for any sound whatsoever, you should probably stay elsewhere. We are not bar people, but we did go into the pub for a beer and soda to take with us back to the room. The pub was spectacular, the patrons kept bursting into songs that they’d sing loud but very much in tune with each other. It was wonderful, I’ve never seen anything like it and it is my best memory of England.
The stairs are narrow and steep and difficult to carry luggage on. But we were aware of this beforehand. You’ve got to take the bad with the good.

Great location on Oxford Road for bars and restaurants. Nice basic room with everything I needed. Water supplied which was a nice touch and plenty of tea and coffee. I was out at a conference, so it was really somewhere to sleep for a good price. Met all expectations.
Nothing really all was as expected. Clean and comfortable. Room was a little noisy, not so much with the bar noise, which staying above a bar was expected, but neighbouring room coming in after midnight and having a shower could cause issues for some.

Perfect location for us as was close to the all the birthday celebrations that we were attending. Lovely clean room, overlooking Oxford street, crisp white bed linen, good sized bathroom. The electric shower was a challenge to get at the correct temperature. The staff were amazing. My motorbike was stolen while we were in Southampton, (nothing to do with The Grapes) and they could not have been nicer, more sympathetic and helpful to my wife when she had to return to pack and vacate the room while I dealt with the theft and police. Many many thanks to you for this wonderful customer service.
Our only negative was that the room wasn't cleaned the day after we checked in so I only had 1 teabag left and dirty mugs for our morning tea on the last day. Not really a biggy though.

Perfect location. Really nice staff. The room was tiny but the private bath more than made up for it. The place was also squeaky clean. The reasonable price made it the perfect stay for a solo traveler. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in town. They don't have food but they give you a discount on drinks with your key card which is a bonus. XOXO restaurant across the street had one of the best vegetarian breakfasts I've ever eaten and the Greek place next door was really good too, so not a big deal.

Great location, imagine it's a buzzing little street at busier times. Very clean room, well-maintained and fresh decor. Really comfortable, slept excellently. Great pub, and you get a discount on drinks.
All good with the stay - only mentionable thing is little confusion over breakfast: I was told that as they don't provide breakfast, I could get a discount over the road (XOXO). At XOXO they knew nothing about this, and I didn't get the discount. This isn't a complaint, as that would've just been a bonus - I'd have gone there for breakfast anyway (really good!) Just confused, maybe slightly embarrassed 🤷🏻♀️

The central location was a great benefit to this accommodation. An added bonus is the 10% discount residents get at the pub. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. The pub had a good selection of real ale on hand pump as well as a variety of largest and spirits. Food could be ordered from next door and they would deliver it into the pub for you. The can of fresh water, tea, coffee in the room was very welcome after the drive down from Manchester.
The room was showing some wear and tear with the external wall of the head too showing it’s age. Honestly it was not an issue though.

Loved the quaint decor. Although a very old building it was fine. Not noisy at all . While I had 2 flights of stairs with luggage, staff came to the rescue. Great to have the pub downstairs and let me taking my drink up to my room .
There was a musty smell at the start of the stairs. Maybe air freshener would help. My room shower hose seemed to be a little broken but still worked . No food available at all. But lots of eateries next door and across the path

Location was perfect however if you are a light sleeper I wouldn't recommend as it is on a main noisy street. Staff were accommodating & housekeeping was lovely. You also have a few eateries surrounding so good location again.
Fortunately it was a knackering 2days so I was super tired & sleep deep. I can see how if clients are light sleepers the noise levels were very apparent so maybe have double glazing if possible to avoid this.
