The rooms were very cute and comfortable. I loved the claw foot tub and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel itself was decorated amazingly and felt very cozy.

My only critiques were that there wasn’t much by way of complimentary toiletries. There was nothing for the bath, and I had to go and purchase my own bubble bath and bath salts. I know that’s a bit extra to want, but for the price of the rooms I was surprised it wasn’t included. And the WiFi also did not work, but I believe that was because it was publicly available and it’s a pretty busy street at night. We unfortunately couldn’t watch anything on tv. But I was still book again!

Beautiful inn. The staff and innkeeper are AMAZING - felt like we were staying with close friends. The rooms are beautifully appointed, and the bathrooms were wonderful! Very comfy beds and linens. Coffee makers, with multiple coffee options, and tea kettles along with the fridge. The tavern was wonderful, we dined there every day for breakfast (included) and had lunch or dinner several days - everything was beautiful prepared and delicious. Friends we were traveling with had the opportunity to have the Sunday Roast and RAVED about how wonderful it was. We will ABSOLUTELY Return on our next stop over in Southampton!

We wished we could have stayed longer!!!!

We booked into the WST as we had a cruise booked the following day from Southampton. Prior to our stay the hotel manager contacted us to make us aware that the hotel had no lift and therefore if we had heavy suitcases we may want to pack an overnight bag to take up to the room we did this and left our suitcases in their secure baggage room. Turned out to be a toptip ! We were checked in on arrival by friendly staff and our room was ready so we went up. The hotel is nautical themed, hence The White Star name, and be prepared to spend a lot of time taking in all of the fabulous vintage artwork and photographs. The room (which I think was classed as a comfy cabin) was beautifully clean and spacious with tea and coffee making facilities, good sized bathroom, robes and a dressing table area. The hotel itself is situated on a busy lively street which has lots of great bars and restaurants to visit. After an evening out in Southampton we returned to the pub where Kyle served us us a couple of very good red wines while we sat outside under the heaters. We had breakfast as part of our package, served in the pub. There was lovely continental options and a fabulous selection of hot food too. As our boarding time wasn’t until late afternoon we went for a wander around the town. The hotel kindly looked after all our bags and arranged for us to have a taxi directly to the port when we returned. All in all I would say this is a fabulous hotel with the added bonus of being a great pub too. Fab for any stay in Southampton but particularly great if you are overnighting prior to a cruise. A special heads up to Kyle who appeared to do most jobs and was great!

It wasn’t a problem for us but a heads up that there is no lift at the property and it is on a busy street so there is some music noise from a couple of late bars but not enough for it to cause us an issue.

The attention to detail in the room facilities was commendable. There was everything a guest would need for a very comfortable stay. The list of facilities is too long to describe but notably the room was served with air conditioning, total noise insulation, a very spacious and clean bathroom, coffee machine and tea station, ironing facilities, safety deposit box and most importantly, a very comfortable bed. The location could not be better in Southampton and the night life in the evenings is a pleasure.

The tavern is an old building that has a lot of character but cannot possibly have a lift installation, so we did have to carry our suitcases up/down narrow stairs, but staff were most helpful in this regard.

The white star tavern is a fantastic place to stay, has very comfortable beds, the staff are very attentive and looked after us the whole time, even when it got busy. The building is an older building that has been lovingly restored with the bar downstairs and the accommodation located over 2 floors, as it's an old building it does not have a lift, but it's recommended to take an overnight bag so you don't have to lug the larger cases up the stairs (Staff will lock up your cases for safe keeping). Breakfast is inclusive, and let me tell you, the food was on point, absolutely delicious. You actually get the small things here, like a decent amount of milk for your Coffee or Tea and enough for more than one cup a day, these things and more, like chocolate and water and beer in the fridge that is not extra made the difference for us. I will be a returning customer very happy.

Well, there's not much to say here, no elevator, but still no issue unless you can't do stairs.

Beautiful hotel, room was lovely and had everything you could want to make your stay perfect. The staff is simply amazing, everyone we met was so friendly and helpful. Becca and Ermina (spelling?) in the dining room were wonderful and on top of everything. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is absolutely delicious. Breakfast was included and everything was so fresh and prepared perfectly. It's a do not miss! We had both lunch and dinner there as well and neither disappointed, so good. You can tell the ingredients are top quality. I would absolutely stay here again when in the area and would recommend without hesitation. Absolutely lived up to its five star rating.

Such a refreshing change to chain hotels! Very cozy, decorated with good taste, following the ship theme. Well equipped room with capsule coffee maker and fresh milk in the fridge and a teapot and even a milk jug. Good bathroom, good water pressure. A la carte breakfast!

Note that the street can be loud (as there are many bars and all have outdoor seating). So if you’re a light and an early sleeper, it can be an issue. Breakfast is great with tasty options to be ordered from the menu - but make sure have good time as the wait can be long (30 min).

I was so touched by the little details - the nice chocolates, teas, coffees, the overall look and feel of the room. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the shower was great. Nice and clean too. Just what I needed for my 1 night stay. I wouldn't hesitate to come back or recommend it to friends.

Although the glazing was very good, a lot of noise from the bar opposite my room still leaked through - this was around 10-11pm I think. Nothing some earplugs couldn't handle, though. Also, I was in room 6, which is one of the ones not as well sign-posted if you're just relying on signs; a small detail but worth noting?

The room was beautiful and spacious with a comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom. Nice teas and coffees and cookies were in the room also. The management was especially welcoming and friendly and also helped us with our luggage both coming and leaving. They also arranged a taxi for our departure to the port (getting a cab is not an easy feat in this area). We ate lunch, dinner and the complimentary breakfast in the dining room - wonderful! It was an absolute great experience. Thank you.

Nothing.

Very small hotel but it was so good! At the beginning when we entered we were feeling like ouhh no this is not good place but we couldn't find any negative in it except they don't have lift . Breakfast was delicious, they had some croissant fuits fresh juices plus hot breakfast menu ! So good ! They even gave goodies to my kids made them super happy 😄

There is no lift ! so if you have suitcases this is not a good place for you . We were there for a night only, so we kept them all with reception it was so hard to get them through STAIRS to level 3 !
