The location was great, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was also very good, we ate there 3 nights and each meal was very good. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, we particularly liked the fridge in the room. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Great shower too. Everything in the room was finished to a very high standard.

We could not understand why when so much thought had obviously been put into the comfort of the room the designer had thought it appropriate to have an open plan toilet! ....An open plan bathroom yes but toilet NO!! When we saw the pictures of the room online we thought that they had left the bathroom doors open to showcase the lovely copper bath....so just be advised that the bathroom is totally open and if you are ok with that you will really enjoy your stay.

Lovely atmosphere in beautiful, well maintained surroundings. Fantastic bar staff made us feel really welcome. The evening meal we all had was lovely with a large variety of choices on the menu.

The only disappointment was on our final morning. We booked 3 rooms at the hotel, including breakfast. Breakfast isn't served till 8 o'clock, which being a business trip meant we were rushed a little to get to our customers on time. Unfortunately, on our last day, the chef turned up really late, which meant we had to skip the delicious breakfast we were all looking forward to.

The location is beautiful. We'd come to combine a birthday celebration with a visit to Beamish, which is just around the corner. It all worked perfectly. We had a very nice meal in the restaurant the evening we arrived and then, after a good breakfast, were all set up for our day out the next day. Every member of staff we met was very friendly, approachable and helpful.

It's a historic property full of character and charm. That means some noise does travel through the buildings. We were fine with that, as it fitted with the kind of stay we expected but if you prefer an anonymous, hermetically sealed box, there are plenty out there.

Beautiful, spacious bedroom with a four poster bed and copper bath. Breakfast was delicious. Setting is stunning with gorgeous views over manicured fields. We stayed for a wedding nearby which started early and we’d be there until midnight so we’re concerned about how we’d checking but the staff were very accommodating and kind, allowing us to pick up a spare key at breakfast time and dropping our bags in our room for our return. The wedding meant we didn’t spend a tonne of time in the room although the generous 11am checkout time did mean we had a some time on the morning to relax before leaving. Would definitely like to come back and enjoy it in full.

Nothing to dislike.

Beautiful location and stunning rooms. The premises was well kept and we loved our weekend away! If we could have stayed longer we would have!

No room service after a 6.5 hour drive so had to order food in as we were exhausted. The breakfast was overcooked (to the point that the black pudding wouldn’t let the knife cut through), the has brown saturated in oil, and the sausages were herby which the menu didn’t state and we don’t like so the majority was left by both of us. Waitress didn’t ask how our meal was and we couldn’t find her to raise our thoughts.

The location was fantastic and the staff were lovely and very welcoming. Everyone from the gardeners to the waitresses , bar staff and housekeeping all had a smile and a pleasant greeting when they saw you.

Its hard to say we didn't like anything as its such a lovely place , only downside is its a little expensive- would have been good to have shower gel and bath foam in the room instead of taking our own ! We only had shampoo, conditioner and hand cream provided.

The room was lovely. As was the bar and the food. Also the staff were very friendly. We never got a chance to try the shower or bath unfortunately.

As a private person personally, I like a proper wall with door on a bathroom, not curtains. Also I'm assuming there were people cleaning the windows and door well before departure time, which not only woke us up as we could hear their conversations in full.. when it came to cleaning the door we felt someone was about to walk into our room which made us anxious.

The car park is easy to access and adjacent to the accommodation. The room was comfortable with lots of storage and a comfortable bed. The on-site pub/restaurant serves nice food and drink that is competitively priced. The Breakfast chef did great Scrambled eggs. The staff we encountered were very friendly and efficient.

I like a dark room at night. The bright outside light shines through the door window that is only covered by a blind

Lots of breakfast options and freshly cooked to order. Lovely large copper bath to fit 2 😉, and a large shower. Ideal location for visiting Beamish Living Museum, only a 5 minute drive away

Seats outside the rooms which should be lovely in the nice weather but guests either side of our room were sat outside smoking as we came in and out meaning no option but to walk through their cigarette smoke.

The location, decor, and general ambience is fantastic. The rooms are gorgeous and great value for money. I love the balcony in front of the upstairs rooms and the flowers around the property are beautiful and well looked after. This is one of the few occasions that the photos genuinely portray exactly what you're getting with the room - quality, luxury, and comfort.

Despite the staff being friendly and well-meaning, the level of service in the restaurant was appalling. We had to wait nearly an hour for a sandwich at lunchtime and there was nearly an hour wait between courses at dinner. I was shocked to see the kitchen abandoned halfway through service and 3 out of 4 of the waiters/waitresses having a break at the same time while our dirty plates were left on the table for 20 minutes. Such a shame, as this place could be amazing. This establishment is in great need of more kitchen staff and a strong manager on duty at all times.
