The B&B is on the very edge of town. A few minutes walk and you are in the middle of Tavistock. The accommodation represents very good value for money. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The full English breakfast overlooking the river was excellent and the view an unexpected surprise. I would happily recommend Kingfisher Cottage to friends and family and would stay there again.
In order to give a balanced review then there are a few observations but these must be taken in context with the excellent value for money Kingfisher Cottage provides. The earliest check in was 5pm, personally we would like to have checked in earlier but we respect the hosts decision for this. Parking is at the front of the cottage, it is tight but with the hosts help it works. The bedroom and en suite were small but not disappointing. It was comfortable and clean, had all the amenities you needed and suited our one night stay.

The hosts are simply outstanding. Super helpful, friendly and knowledgable. Nothing is ever too much. The place is spotless, the breakfasts delicious and the location perfect for a quick stroll into town or a relaxing sit on the terrace overlooking the river. The rooms are small but comfortable and everything you might need is provided including dressing gowns!
Parking is available but very tight and did require some careful juggling of cars depending on who needed to leave. That said, Paul was super helpful in making sure this was meticulously managed to avoid inconveniencing anyone. Top tip would be not to come in a big car if possible. For me this was no issue since I was happy to leave my car tucked in the corner and walk everywhere.

What a little gem of a place. Great hosts, nothing too much trouble. Situated by Vigo Bridge, easy walk to Tavistock centre, able to park there, and although our room was small, it was comfortable, cosy, pristine & had everything you could need ( including bathrobes & a fan) with a modern private bathroom. The breakfast was delicious,& filling. This place is fantastic value for money. I would return in a heartbeat.
5pm earliest check in may not suit those who don't know the area. It was fine for me as I used to live in the area & know parking places and things to do despite the weather. Breakfast is between 8am & 9am, and Check out is by 10 am. This can also be rather early for people looking for a relaxing break, or visitors going to live concerts in the town or in Plymouth. But if you don't mind ditching the lie in, this place is a gem.

We were there for my brothers wedding which was in Tavistock , so the location was perfect . The hosts Paul and Carla were so nice. We were looked after from the minute we walked through the door. They couldn't do enough for us .The room though a little small was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. Breakfast was fabulous, there was a lovely selection of fruit, cereals and juice and a full English breakfast .We would definitely recommend this B+B.
There was nothing not to like , except the weather which unfortunately was cold and wet .

Great B&B - would definitely recommend this one - The owner Paul went the extra mile to ensure any needs were met and more … Room was warm and very comfortable and the cooked and continental breakfast choices very ample. Parking was free and safe and added to my very pleasant stay. Thank you to Paul and his wife for ensuring I had the perfect 3 nights November 2023 stay and I look forwards to revisiting soon.
The only thing I didn’t like was the stormy weather - I probably spent more time enjoying the owner Paul’s hospitality than I anticipated - but I liked everything with my stay at Kingfisher Cottage B&B which was faultless.

We arrived on three classic Lambretta motor scooters, (three couples) we were met by Paul who opened his garage for us to securely park the bike for the night, Paul gave us a friendly welcome & showed us to our rooms & explained all we needed to know. We were attending a wedding in the town so were ideally placed to walk to the venue. The on suite shower & room facilities were excellent with good hanging space for our smart clothes. Breakfast was lovely & was served in the conservatory over looking the river. We stayed for one night only but couldn't have been more welcome. Perfect.
Difficult to find fault, but if I was pressed, maybe the blinds in our room (3) could be replaced with 'blackout blinds', other than that I have no negative comments to offer.

Kingfisher cottage was a lovely little B&b! Great position on the bank of the river Tavi with a short stroll into town. Paul was very welcoming and filled us in on local information and recommendations of where to eat/drink- we went to a great Pizza place which was suggested. Room was fine with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast (cooked) was delicious and set us up for the day.
No negatives really, the room wasn't massive, but this was indicated when booking. No issues!

I only stayed the one night having never been to Tavistock before - the welcome was exceptional and the room very comfortable and I slept well. In the morning the breakfast choice was excellent and cooked to perfection. I am more than happy to recommend Kingfisher Cottage to anybody who is looking for a stay in the town, as they won't be disappointed and the view from the breakfast room of the river flowing past is exceptional. It is fun playing musical cars out the front as there isn't much parking space, but the owners are used to this and they are expert at getting your car in alongside their own - thank you for your hospitality.

Location was great. Parking was tight and the host went to great lengths to minimise this issue so personally I didn't find it to be an actual prob and def 5* on that. Thanks Paul! Well placed for all the town's facilities too! Brek was great, perfectly cooked and all the toast + marm you need in the conservatory overlooking the Tavy. Room was comfortable, simple but clean, with WiFi, and a nice roomy shower - all at a v nice price!! Happy days, if I ever need a local billet again, I'll look no further than the Kingfisher. Seriously. 😁👍.
I don't actually count the limited parking as a genuine prob as there's lotsa ways round it tbh, so loved it all.

The Kingfisher is easy to find and close to the sites and shopping, the breakfast was cooked to order and the produce used were above average for a B & B. The hosts were very friendly and had an excellent knowledge of the area. Tavistock is seeped in history and has some beautiful buildings. The high street has something to offer for everyone and the market is a must do.
