We like the Giltar very much indeed in that all the staff are very friendly, especially in the dining room and the bedroom chamber maids. It has a beautiful position on the front with magnificent views along the coast and over to Caldey Island. The food was well presented and very acceptable. It has the feeling of a happy staff and 'well run ship'.

We are elderly and much of our enjoyment is sitting in our room looking out at the sea. For this reason we indulged in an expensive de luxe room with a sea view. We were warned shortly before our arrival that there would be scaffolding up, which did indeed spoil the outlook but we accepted this with a small adjustment to the price of the room for one of the days. However, unfortunately for two of our four full days the scaffolding was being taken down with all the ensuing noise and men clambering around directly outside our window. We would have hoped for a reasonable deduction for this but the management seemed surprised that we should think this. This we found disappointing and so have not given it top rating, which for all other aspects we would have done.

Beautiful property right on the seafront. The hotel is absolutely a pleasure to stay in. The deluxe rooms are tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We stayed in St Margaret’s and it was beautiful the bath in the middle of the room was fantastic. We booked a table in the restaurant and the food was very good. After food we went in to the bar which has comfortable settees to sit on and enjoy a nice drink.

Parking is limited at the hotel which you are told about before your stay. This is ant an issue as a three minute walk away is a large car park which is only £7 for 24 hours.

Lovely traditional hotel with glorious views over South Beach in Tenby. We stayed in a Deluxe sea view room and it was definitely worth the additional cost - recently refurbished with beautiful elegant decor, an extremely comfortable bed and it was kept absolutely pristine by the housekeeping staff (as was the whole hotel). The breakfasts were cooked to order and were delicious - delivered speedily too. All the staff were so friendly and helpful but a special shout-out to Hannah on Reception and Lewis who was so pleasant and cheerful in the mornings but who also made a perfect passion fruit spritz! An easy walk into the heart of Tenby and quick access onto the beach.

We absolutely loved our stay! Our room was astounding! The view and balcony were far and above what we expected. The bed was so comfy we took a photo of the brand and plan to buy one! Staff were just lovely, each and everyone!!! We will definitely come again and will ask for the Cawdor room again!

I am being very picky here but the TV was quite small to watch from the bed and no full length mirror. The breakfast was nice but bacon a little underdone for my liking and to have just one sausage, bacon was a shame. But none of these things ruined our time at all and would highly recommend to anyone!

Friendly staff, comfortable, clean room, great location and lovely views. Tea and coffee making facilities in room. The bar and restaurant areas were inviting and the food was quite good, especially good was vegetables with the roast dinner. The public areas of the hotel have been decorated ti quite a high standard, great wallpaper.!

The hotel is quite an old building and the layout of rooms and corridors are a bit confusing at first. The shower cubicle quite small as is the TV. Realise that the first 2 items would be difficult to change but bigger TV would have been nice. Maybe worth mentioning, however, none of the above should spoil a stay in this lovely hotel.

Room was absolutely beautiful and staff were great. We paid for a deluxe double room with view.

The only disappointing thing was we could not check in till 2.30pm and then we had to vacate our room by 10.30 we paid £194.00 for our room so felt that was not adequate timing to depart. This is one of the reasons we probably wouldn't stay again as staff wouldn't even check if our room was ready upon our arrival time which was 1.30pm which was a little frustrating as we were out with friends so had to leave our meal to take our suitcase to our room and check in and then go back out again to continue our birthday celebrations.

The Staff was very welcoming throughout the hotel. The breakfast choices were lovely, fresh natural yoghurt, honey, fruit, pastries, toast and jams and marmalade. Then a good selection of cooked dishes. Very generous portions of smoked salmon. Also, the Giltar evening meals are wonderful. The Staff made us feel very special. Our room was very comfortable and nice and warm. The hotel has high cleaning standards and keeps the decor fresh. The location is spectacular. The lounge bar is so nice for relaxing in on an inclement day too. We are already looking forward to our third visit to this super hotel.

Nothing.

Always nice to stay at The Giltar which has recently been refurbished. My room (102) was lovely, the view superb. Staff are always very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was delicious with a varied menu. The position of the hotel is ideal for the views, for watching people and for easy access to the town.

Only two little niggles - there was no way to lock my door from the inside overnight. Travelling on my own this time it would have been nice to be able to secure the door. I did take it up with the hotel and was told that the 'snibs' on the back of the locks had caused problems in the past with people locking themselves out so they had been removed! I can understand this but surely a simple bolt on the inside would solve the problem? Also the floorboards creak badly - both my own and the ones above me - I know it is an old building but when the new carpets were fitted maybe a refix of the floorboards beforehand would save a lot of broken nights from people walking back and forth. It's very difficult to be quiet and avoid the creaks when going to the bathroom in the small hours!

We were welcomed by super staff, professional and friendly. It was nice to have a chat in the Lounge. I Mrs Hill asked for White wine spritzer with Soda no ice. It was first class just the right proportion of Soda to Wind. We thought the meals were cooked perfectly, and the menu choices provided a range of different meals. We had 2 roasts, a curry, Ham chips and egg. Pie of the day VG and finally fish and chips. We were 4 family members. Breakfast was great. I would highly recommend the hotel. We travelled from Bournemouth and East Devon, a long trip. If it was neater we would definitely return. Liked the tribute evenings advertised. The room and bathroom super, interior design really professional. We had a lovely view across the road to the beach. We saw the whole sweep of the bay and the shoreline opposite. Thank you for a first class experience. Ben and Grania Hill

The Giltar is at fantastic location. It overlooks the sea and is a very short distance from the town. This was the first time I had ever experienced having a single room with a sea view. (Single rooms are usually at the back of hotels overlooking the bins!) It was so lovely. Comfy, clean, quiet, cosy. Had EVERYTHING I needed. All the staff were so helpful & friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. Lovely choice of juices etc and a very tasty cooked breakfast. I LOVED my three nights at the Giltar. I will definitely be visiting there again, very soon.

I have no negative comments to make.
