This was my first experience at a bed in breakfast and let me tell you, it was exceptional period Liz, the innkeeper, and her lovely old dog made me and my boyfriend feel very welcome period she was the right combination of friendly but not nosey, helpful but not overbearing period the room was clean and well appointed and it seems each room was decorated with the theme which was very cute period the guest book was full of loads of information on the building itself and the area and had we been in town for longer than one day we would have had plenty to do period breakfast was cooked to order and everything was wonderful!

Proprietor was extremely helpful and friendly, and went out of her way to make sure everyone enjoyed their stay. She provided easy access to lots of helpful local information. The location was very close to the water and town attractions, and walkable to dining options in Scrabster. My room was small (as expected; it was a single) but very comfortable and even had a desk for me to get some work done. The breakfast was made to order and very plentiful and delicious. The parking area was big and there was no need for tricky maneuvering, the way I've found at some other lodgings in Scotland. This was a great value and I'd happily stay here again if back in the area.

The rooms were pretty close together so I could easily hear conversation, nose blowing, etc from the other guests.

The host, Liz, welcomed me as an old friend, it felt as if we knew each other. I only stayed one night but during my stay I had great conversations with Liz, we laughed, cried, and she made my stay so personal, also met her beautiful dog. Such a warm and cozy feel to it, my room was massive, with big windows and high ceiling, it felt great to stay there and the bed was so comfortable. Nothing was too much to ask for, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

If I have to find anything, I'd say the view from my window wasn't the best. But I've seen other rooms and some of them had stunning views.

Liz is an incredible host. Very accommodating and helpful. Full of knowledge and tips for your stay. Offered for us to use the dining room to have our dinner both nights. Rooms all very clean and comfortable. Each morning you were left with the tastiest shortbread biscuits. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was plentiful and you could order what you wanted off the menu cooked fresh. As much tea, coffee and toast as you wanted. It's one of the best cooked breakfasts we've had. The eggs were lovely and butchers sausage and bacon. The highlight was the black pudding. Don't miss out. The best black pudding we've had. Great location.

I loved the staff, very welcoming and friendly and even helped me carry a very heavy suitcase upstairs. They reply to messages always and were very helpful over my having my car dropped off before my arrival by a transporter.

There was a loud dripping intermittently behind the wall in the corner next to the bed. It was raining outside at the time so I think it was leaking in somewhere, but no water came in. This was very noisy next to my head in bed,but each episode was fairly short lived and luckily I had bought my earplugs. Had it been constant rain it possibly would have been continuous. I didn`t say anything because I was in a rush very early in the morning. I am only saying now to make them aware of it.

From checking in to checking out service was exemplary. The host, room, facilities, breakfast, quiet sleep and a real welcome by the host. Brilliant in room details booklet regarding the area, places to visit nearby and a sound knowledge and history of the area. We had the most beautiful marmalade at breakfast and the history of its local home making was shown in the booklet but the taste at breakfast excelled. Details re shells on the beaches, everything really made you feel at home. SO easy for the Scrabster ferry minutes down the road ideal starting place for the Orkneys or the surrounding district. Catered for me as a vegetarian re breakfast also no issues or my husband's conventional Scottish breakfast. Wonderful dining room, we did not use the night before to take in a takeaway as was offered on the site but it really is a beautiful, welcoming dining room. A real thank you to the host who was absolutely beautiful as were the rooms, facilities and cleanliness. Thankyou would definitely use again and recommend.

Great place as we arrived late and Liz came out and greeted us and instantly made us feel warm and very welcoming.Liz is very cheerful person.Once inside Liz show us the room and explained everything and also had fresh milk for the tea and coffee. Liz is very helpful if you have any queries regarding the area. The bonus is the wonderful breakfast which was made freshly to order,only about 10minute waiting. The property has all the things required for a excellent stay whether is a short or long stay. Highly recommended and would be returning in the near future if I am passing by or touring the Highlands again I will stop for now as too much would be over the top and feel it's not real feedback. You much try and see for yourself. Thank you Liz for a wonderful stay.

The host was very friendly and welcoming and very knowledgeable of the area. We were shown to our room, which was absolutely lovely and included an ensuite with a good shower. The breakfast was excellent quality made from locally sourced produce. We really couldn't fault this stay and would definitely return, and we would highly recommend it. The bonus for us was that the host an EV charger where we were charged just for the price of the electricity.

The property was located near the beach and in easy walking distance from the town. It has private off road parking. The place was neatly decorated and clean our room was comfortable with a lovely large bed. The bathroom was compact but usable and clean.

The breakfast was poorly organised. It seemed that all guests ate at the same time and overwhelmed the kitchen. We had to wait a long time for a drink then an awful long time for our cooked breakfast.

Lovely old house, quiet, full of character, and my bedroom was cozy and comfortable. Lovely hot shower. Staff were super friendly and couldn’t have been more welcoming, even making my room available first thing so I could check in and get dressed for a lunchtime wedding. Oh and breakfast next morning was delicious!

Only a very minor thing…the washbasin in my bathroom (Hoy) was a little slow to drain, didn’t trouble me, but might need unclogging?
