We liked the hotel appearance when we arrived, the staff were all lovely, the breakfast was delicious, the pool, sauna and steam room were wonderful (we went when there were no kids lessons).

Some areas need an update - the bedroom furniture, stairway looking sorry for itself, just a bit tatty in places. We could hear the person using the bathroom next door, but luckily he was only there our first night. The bed was firm (which my husband appreciated), but pillows were very soft (though we didn’t ask if they had firmer pillows to be fair. Breakfast choice was fab, just no black pudding which was a shame.

The family room was huge and we really liked having a proper table and chairs where we could play board games together. Beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. The staff were helpful, and quickly sorted out an extra bed in one of the rooms for us, following a mix up with the booking. We enjoyed the breakfast, especially the pancakes cooked to order! There was plenty of choice and although the restaurant was busy, it didn't feel crowded.

The family room was a bit noisy which might be a problem for light sleepers. There were lorries making deliveries just outside and very creaky floorboards overhead. The receptionist seemed to be really busy running errands around the hotel- the front desk was often unstaffed in the early evening which meant a 5/10 minute wait at reception for assistance.

Room was lovely and clean, Breakfast was hot but not too busy, lots of choices for breakfast, the restaurant have lovely selection of food.

Had a coffee machine in the room, but no coffee pod for it, I had to go to reception to get some pods, and would have been nice to have been left in the room each day. Had a Fire alarm go off at 6:10am, but I wasn't sure if it was a hotel alarm or just the room, with no robe I had to get myself dressed quickly to leave, by the time I was able the alarm stopped, then I went to have a shower and the water was cold, and it came back on too late for me to have a shower before heading to work.

This hotel offers fantastic customer service a great spa and a good restaurant and bar offering food and drink throughout the day. Room service is also available with a small surcharge of £5. The staff were very attentive,professional, friendly, and courteous. This was apparent throughout the hotel. We can't leave a review without saying a big thank you to the front of the house, David. He went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable .He was friendly and very helpful helping us to the taxi with bags etc. He didn't have to do this, but it helped a lot .

The food potions in the bar are slightly on the small side. I ordered a cheese board and had to request a few more grapes . Sandwich fillings were also a bit skimpy . Little areas around the bar, restaurant, and toom had small dust webs . Just saying that because bar and housekeeping must have missed small areas, I know housekeeping were very busy it's just a minor observation.

Because we had brought our dog we ate breakfast in the bar which was right next to the restaurant. There was lots of choice and staff were very welcoming. It might have eased the wait time for coffee if they had a third coffee machine. I used the swimming pool and everything was really clean and tidy. The room was really big and the dogs crate had plenty of room. There was loads of hot water for baths.

I phoned the central reservations after making my booking because there was no where online to indicate that I was bringing the dog. They could not have been more helpful.

Park Royal Hotel was the perfect spot for visiting the numerous National Trust properties in the area. Breakfast was excellent. Dining room staff were cheerful and helpful. Service at dinner was good and the food excellent. A bar meal was not as I had requested but I was compensated adequately so this is a positive rather than a negative. Our bathroom light flickered intermittently. I reported it and I think someone came to fix it as it was ok afterwards so this is a positive also. I am glad I asked for a quiet room as there were 2 weddings catered for over the weekend so it was rather busy from Friday evening to Sunday morning. The pool facilities were great.

I reported that there was no paper towel in the dispenser in the reception ladies. I was back later in the day and it was still not replenished. If it was for paper/resource saving reasons I quite understand but then the receptionist I spoke to should have said and a notice should have been put on the dispenser. The floors in the pool changing rooms were not very clean. A lane for swimming lengths would have been helpful when busier. The costume dryer in the ladies was not working on the Sunday morning.

I had asked for room 62 ( beside spa for my wife) when i booked and Booking.com confirmed this would be ok but when we arrived this was not avcailable and it seemed like Booking.com had not checked this with the hotel..anyway we were given a ground floor room ( 41) but as the previous stay it was roasting hot due to pipes around the wall so we were moved to room 53 which was much cooler..maybe you should think about lagging these pipes as you are losing a lot of heat which should really only come out of the actual radiator..the staff were absolutely fab and very nice and more than helpful . Did everything to help us...all fine And at breakfast the staff again were lovely and the breakfast was superb...all in all very good...I would stay again.

Just the hot pipes around the rooms but apart from that all was great.

Stayed at the Park Royal before so knew what to expect. Great value for money and cheaper to book via Booking.com than the hotel website. It is comfortable and the room was very spacious. It does need some serious money to update the decor in the corridors and rooms. Staff were excellent and I would highlight Erin on reception who went above and beyond to organise an extension to our stay. Would stay again in the future

Always stay here it’s lovely hotel and staff are lovely.

Nothing, was given a room which was in the basement, was freezing cold, had no phone signal and the view was a brick wall. Rang reception who changed our room with no hesitation. We got a lovely room on the first floor, very spacious, clean and comfy. The only thing that was a problem was someone playing really loud music until 1.30am, again rang reception and they sorted this asap. The music stopped and we had a lovely sleep. Thank you to the reception man who was very helpful and lovely.

the Staff were excellent and the room was good, there was not heating controls in the room so had to take a heater in. I carry one everywhere just in case. Service was good and the staff could not have been more helpful.

The breakfast was of a reasonable quality but looked to have been put out under the lamps for a prolonged time prior to service. some of the food was dried, it took a prolonged time to receive poached eggs requested on entry to the restaurant. I had the Cheese burger one evening, this was probably the worst burger I have had. the first one was burnt so I requested another one, this came inside a minute so am presuming that these are all precooked which I was not expecting from a hotel of this standard.
