The food is amazing , and the rooms are amazing

The only reason I booked to stay here for that price was to use the spa , that was down all my stay only the pool was open ,

The weather forecast didn’t look too good, but as we drove south the rain was moving north and we had 2 beautiful days. This was our first stay in the Main House and was very impressed. As always the staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs. Will be back.

My wife and I are 76yrs old and the shower over the bath was not perfect but we managed,I should have asked for a walk in,otherwise the stay was excellent.

Location for our needs visiting family in Whitby - perfect. The spa is lovely and one of the main reasons we stay here - it’s our 5th/6th visit - we’ve lost count but always find the staff outstanding. The hotel we found out on arrival is closing for major 6 months of renovations - yes we can see why , as things are starting to get a bit tired but despite this and staff being laid off they were all so positive and excited about the refurbishment and getting back to full working hours in the summer. Shows how bought in and passionate they are to the business and customer service!

We were disappointed that we were not prepared that the hotel room facilities were already being compromised with reworks already starting - the TV wasn’t working properly, no films , poor internet and no bbc channels we were told by way of a note in the room. The first room we were in was looking at a brick wall - the bathrom heating not working- we were moved with full assistance and upgraded to a suite - fantastic service ! My only other observation as a business owner myself is it’s a shame only “ higher management” are told of the plans for the refurbishments - what a missed marketing, staff engagement and retention opportunity - share with everyone is my recommendation! 😀

A nice, warm, relaxing stay for two nights. Lovely room, comfortable bed, good dining room. Good breakfast, without the long wait for cooked meals suggested in information provided. Short drive to Whitby and other excellent locations nearby. Large car park and apparently a bus route nearby. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Just a couple of things - the television didn't work properly throughout our stay, having a message covering the whole bottom half of the screen, so we missed some programmes we really wanted to see. And the mirror in the bathroom was too high on the wall to be able to see anything other than the top of your head. But overall, nothing major. We prefer not to see dogs brought into the dining room but that is a personal preference of course.

The hotel itself was nice and a good location. The outbuilding was very lovely, warm and nicely decorated for Christmas. The room was very comfortable and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The leisure facilities were okay, but maybe not what you might expect for such a highly rated hotel. A good number of the lockers in the men’s changing room were broken or able to be opened even when locked. There was an empty glass room next to the pool which looked as if it was just being used to store the odd bit of cleaning equipment and it made the place look a little unkept.

The hotel location is amazing, right next to a stream and not far from the beach and a town. We loved how the hotel strives for sustainability, and care for the environment. The bed and pillows were super comfortable, and the patios are very private also. Breakfast was lovely and fresh, and the drink choice down in the bar was plentiful, the coffee was the best! The hotel was exceptionally clean, and the team very friendly (reception team and the bar man especially) My Husband had a hot stone massage in the Spa, and he had a lovely experience. There were also lots of places to sit and relax, and they had board games, chess and checkers also which was a nice touch.

The spa and pool area was a little disappointing, just as it was quite small which didn't quite match up to the hotel size. Half of the lockers didn't work in the Spa, but it didn't affect our stay, as the main reason for staying wasn't just for the Spa. The room doors are very heavy and hard to push, good incase of a fire, but we could still hear everything through the door going out into the corridor, with the doors being so thick still.

Rooms were lovely, I booked it for my mum as a surprise for her birthday. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very relaxing place you can get a taxi called from hotel and go into Whitby which is 3 minute ride. It’s beautiful outside in the gardens would be lovely in the summer. Full access to the pool, sauna and steam room which is lovely. The breakfast is extra £18 per person which is totally worth it for the service we got, choice of continental lots of choice fruits pastries and juices then you choose a hot breakfast with tea /coffee. Really enjoyed it and would definitely book to come back.

The view from our room could have been better when looking out it was the bins and side of the hotel but other than that it was nice.

Lovely big comfy bed and bedding. Huge bathroom with nice toiletries. Large towels and bathrobes. Really nice coffees and tea selections in the room with water and biscuits. Great to have an iron and ironing board too without having to ask. Huge room Delicious continental breakfast especially the yoghurt, granola and fruit compote pots. Pool, sauna and steam room excellent as were the changing facilities, although my husband said some of the locker doors were falling off in the men’s section.

Noisy floorboards above with other guests clomping around. We were 214. Staff not that quiet in the morning outside the rooms. Disappointed with cooked breakfast. - £18 for streaky bacon and a nasty tasting sausage. Scrambled egg and everything else faultless. Car park is a short walk away. A pain in the rain or if you leave something in the car.

The location is good, the room was lovely and a decent size. Breakfast was excellent, everything was fresh, and cooked to order, and the staff were fantastic. Especially the lady on reception who gave us a really warm welcome, she was friendly, extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble, just sorry I didn't get her name as she really deserves a mention! We really enjoyed our stay and I would highly recommend the hotel. Also lovely pool and spa.

There was nothing about the hotel we didn't like, although with the reconstruction work at the entrance to the estate and all the mud, a proper foot path for walkers would be useful.

The staff were very friendly and efficient and the rooms were comfortable and warm (much appreciated on a cold soggy October day) We had an evening meal there and it was beautifully cooked and presented. Breakfast offered a good choice of cold and warm dishes The hotel is set off the main road and is very peaceful giving the sense of being amongst nature. There is a bus stop at the end of the long drive where buses travel to Whitby and as far as Middlesbrough in the other direction. We found it too far to walk into Whitby but it's a short stroll onto the beach and into Sandsend

It can be difficult to get a phone signal in the main building (not necessarily a bad thing!)
