Our room was lovely and our bed was very comfortable. The location is peaceful and safe, There is a 7/11 two blocks away for necessities and restaurants begin one block further. Also close to the sea, Free coffee and tea in the mornings. The man cleaning rooms was very welcoming and helpful. He was our "to go to" person if we needed anything,

In the reception area, there is a sign on the door telling us not to knock. Not welcoming. There were several times when I needed a manager. First, the hot water for tea is "child proof" and if it had not been for another guest showing me, I never would have figured it out. Then the printer, Again, not easy to use. Then we had an electrical outage which did something to our TV. There was no one to fix it. Final note: we had an incredible jacuzzi bath But beware, VERY difficult to get in and out. There is also a shower available in the room.

Definitely get the room with the spa bath. Lol. Each room is named after a beach off the California coast. We were in one of the rooms with the spa bath called La Jolla. The room had vaulted circular ceiling with a reading nook and fireplace. It was a pretty big room for the money and clean. We loved the vintage furniture and decor, including the beauty station by the bathroom. The lobby downstairs was a nice addition to get coffee and treats and to fill up with water. The whole experience was different due to lack of a kitchen or kitchenette, but reminded us of the kind of hotel experience someone would have had from the early 1900's btw, there was a nice self-lighting fireplace inside the room we used. The location is only a few blocks from the beach, in a very quiet neighborhood where a noise ordinance is strictly enforced between a certain time of night. The site manager Tori was very responsive and respectful, and very accommodating concerning early arrival and change in stays . FREE UNASSIGNED PARK😆 There was even an EV charging station.

Would have been convenient to have a microwave or fridge in room, but I get it. With those features accessible downstairs it gave a vintage kinda feel. So it was not too awful. ☺️ The biggest thing we disliked was being local to the Amtrak railway . At night and early morning, the Amtrak trains passed through honking their horns which was pretty annoying . There was only one extremely small waste bin inside the restroom. We recommend bringing some trash bags for your waste and definitely some big drinking water jugs so you won't have to go downstairs a lot for water.

Very comfy bed! It felt like it had a memory foam topper and plenty of pillows were available. This upstairs room that I was in (Newport) could get stuffy with no A/C, but there were three fans available, windows to open, plus a ceiling fan with remote which was fine for this time of year. I enjoyed the vintage furniture, the armoire, nightstands, chairs. The refrigerator was good sized though had no freezer area. The bathroom was spacious enough with a nice pedestal sink and shelves for your various items. I liked having a number-keyed entry. The small lobby area was comfortable, and again, I like the older antiquey furniture. There was a Keurig coffee maker in the lobby with good coffee choices, and some snack bars and tea were also available from 7 a.m.-5p.m. While I saw no one in person, they were quite receptive and answered my questions quickly by text and/or email.

I kind of missed having a microwave in the room, and also a desk or table as I needed to do some computer work while there, and didn't want to sit at the table in the lobby to do it. The armchairs were comfortable enough, but a footstool would have helped a lot.

Great location, very clean and we enjoyed the extra amenities like beach chairs and umbrellas since we didn’t bring any, plus they had a cool bag for us to use too.

The room we had, the Santa Barbra is more of a winter room (no AC) as there was little to no ventilation to cool the room down on our first day the room had been closed up and it was extremely hot and took til probably midnight before it was cool enough to sleep. I would stay in this room in the fall or winter though. We will stay again in the summer just choose another room. Besides that everything was fantastic.

Perfectly located close to the beach, parking and the coaster train. Many good restaurants are available nearby. The bad had a bathtub. The bed is an incredibly comfortable feather bed. The room had windows on three sides and a (gas) Fire place.

As normal with American houses, because of the thin walls, you hear noises from the outside and without heating it got quickly cold.

Very cute, vintage style place. Awesome location, quick walk to the beach and downtown. They also provide beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards which were a wonderful feature.

The rooms don’t have AC, so it was very warm during our stay in August. Had to leave the windows open at all times which also meant less privacy.

Seriesly - nothing If I need to go into annoying details - would be nice to have a hot water Kettle at the lobby.

The location was perfect. Three blocks to Carlsbad village and two blocks to the beach. Beach towels and chairs were provided and the whole place was beautiful!

This is my own issue and I knew this before I booked. My only wish is that the rooms had air conditioning. We like to sleep in a cold room. That said there were fans and again I knew this while booking. The location was more appealing than having air.

Outstanding location. The room was as pictured. The staff responsive to questions/needed some help. Would book again.

Better or more blankets for the queen sofa bed. Asked for and got a top sheet for the queen bed as thought it unsanitary to be under a spread with no top sheet that is used by hundreds of people. Minor stuff that could easily be fixed. I would also suggest they put a grab bar by the bathtub -- little slippery getting out of the tub for older people!
