Very confy beds (with curtains). Lots of bathrooms (clean). Common areas cosy and clean. Breakfast provided (just get there early if you want a fruit). Staff very friendly.
The hotel is situated in the city center. Very practical to move around and explore but... well, SF has a lot of homeless people. Especially in the area of the hotel.

The breakfast was quite nice, you can make pancakes, omelette, toast, bagels... Coffee and tee... Cool living room and kitchen with tv. Location is quite good, although the neighborhood looks sometimes a big crippy because of the homeless kinda close by. The personal is very nice and helpful, always there too! The bed also got a curtain and a small shelter to put your things up there.
The room cannot get properly vent because the window was almost impossible to keep it open...maybe they should add some blocks so people can keep them a big open from time to time... and the smell was strong due to the very old carpets... I think...

The staff were very helpful and friendly. They were happy to lend us the hairdryer any time we needed it, they provided more than enough toilet paper for our stay and they even called a handyman one evening when the tv in our room didn’t work. The hostel is in a quiet alley, which at first looked a bit sketchy to us, but turned out to be just fine. We were granted to switch rooms after the first night (see below), so we got to stay in a more spacious, comfortable and much quieter room. Another big plus is the location: very close to nice restaurants and bars, bus stops, and sightseeing highlights (Chinatown can be reached within a few minutes walk).
Our stay at Adelaide was overall a good experience, but please be aware that the room called “Philippe” is a really bad one! It was assigned to us the first night. Apart from being tiny for two people, it is located right above the kitchen, so we would hear an annoying, loud buzz going on and off non stop (even during the night), which was/is, so we were told, was due to some kind of ventilation. Make sure that the issue is fixed, otherwise don’t accept that room or you’ll barely sleep! Staff were kind enough and let us switch rooms the morning after.

The place was nice and cool. The staff was friendly. The beds were comfortable. The hotel is in a good location ose to city center.
The only thing was that the space for the bathroom was kind of small. However the bathroom was kept very clean. The location close to city center meant there are lots of homeless people in the streets close by.

The hostel is really close to Union Square and that was fine. NonetheIess it was absolut quite during the night. I had a private room and for me it was a good and less expensive alternative to a room in an hotel. Staff was very helpful. The "living room" ist beautiful and cosy. There is even a small terrace in front of the kitchen.
It seems as if there are some visitors, who live there for a longer time. So the atmosphere is different to an hostel where there are more or less only backpackers. I sometimes felt a little bit touched because some ealderly people seemed to live there, who couldn't pay another place to live than a bed in a dormitory. But maybe I got something wrong and this was only my impression. The hostel isn't far from Tenderloin and it was shocking for me, that you can see totally sick and neglected people on the streets, which seem to be close to dying - and nobody cares. But that is not a topic concerning the hostel, it is a problem of the american society.

Room was great - comfy beds, nice shower (although tiny wash basin), and plenty of towels. The location was convenient, and efforts had clearly been made to keep the outside area clean and safe-feeling
Breakfast in the kitchen was chaos! Hardly any space, sleepy people stumbling about and crashing into each other. The layout really didn't help. Might have been an idea to separate cold breakfast supplies (like baked goods and cereal) from cooking area.

I was impressed with my room. The lockers were massive, and the beds were private, each with a shelf and chargers. There was ample table space for working in the kitchen area. There were plenty of bathrooms. I never waited to use one. The accommodation felt safe and secure.
On my first day, they ran out of food labels and laundry soap. These items were never replaced during my entire stay. More plugs downstairs would be nice!

Showers and restrooms were clean and hot water was always available. The privacy cutrain at your bed is definitely a plus. There was sufficient storage for luggage as well, which is always nice so you don't have to leave luggage unlocked. The kitchen was well equipped and fridges as well as dry storage were available. If you just need a place to sleep and you are fine with being in a room with other people this is the best place.
The pillows are really, and I mean seriously bad. They also have a hard plastic inside liner which makes tons of noise, not the best for people that don't immediately fall asleep! There is no lock included with yout stay, so you need to bring your own, which I definitely advice as the ones they sell are pricy (6 dollar) and really really crappy. Seriously, it wouldn't hurt them to provide a decent lock, right? Buy one with some safety features and sell it for 1-2 dollars extra, that's fine because it's a convenience service. But this one was really bad and you couldn't reject it once you "wanted one".

Cheap, clean, and decent hostel in downtown San Francisco. I stayed in a 4 beds female room and only one other woman was there, so it was perfect. I didn't use the facilities (kitchen) because I mostly wanted a place to sleep, and it was a good one for that purpose. The location was close to where I had to go, so I don't complain.
The electricity did not work for some hours and that affected the wifi. Not sure if it was a problem with the hostel or the neighborhood, but I couldn't use wifi for a couple of hours.
