Front office staff was STELLAR!!!! The room was one of the best hotel rooms we have stayed at on a 6 week cross country trip. Very large, very clean, very comfortable bed (my husband loved lounging on the couch in the room). We called down for ice at one point and no less than 5 minutes later the gentleman that checked us in personally brought us our ice. Out of probably 35 hotels we stayed at in the last 6 weeks, the Thompson was BY FAR the most professional and attentive service.

We have stayed here a number of times! We love the location and the bar is always lively and fun! We will be back!

Unfortunately this stay we didn’t get the most desirable room. We had a view of the rooftop, air conditioner, etc. Since we only stayed for one night, we didn’t bother to ask to be moved. First world problems is how we felt. It is still one of our favorite places to stay in Chicago.

we have been staying at The Thompson for years. I have tried many, many hotels in Chicago and I can actually sleep at the Thompson. It is nestled in a location where the city noise is at a minimum. The bar atmosphere is really cool and the drinks are top notch. The location is perfect. we had dinner with our son at Gibson’s and the next day had lunch at Fig & Olive. Our last morning we ran across the street before heading to the airport for pancakes!

The Thompson was recommended by a friend and we were happy we followed his lead. The location was brilliant, one block off Lake Michigan and Mag Mile. Bus stop nearby, Red line two/three blocks away. The room was generous, the interior modern. Really great bathroom. The staff was very friendly.

Room , Location, & Bed

I was charged 3x for a two night stay + the 300$. Everything came up to about 1500$ dollars . Couldn’t enjoy my trip money . Now I have to wait 3-5 business to receive 757.68$ I am completely broke at the moment and I am very disappointed with my decision to use booking.com/Priceline or whomever . That was ridiculous.

Great location, clean, functional

Since Hyatt bought this boutique hotel, they now charge $50 for early check-in (what??) and they no longer have coffee in the lobby in the morning. That was disappointing as we have stayed here many times. It doesn’t quite feel like a boutique hotel anymore.

The Thompson is my favorite place to stay in Chicago but unfortunately this time my friend fell and we spent over 12 hours in the ER so we did not get to spend the night like planned. We had to cancel for the next day and fly back home. Unfortunately, we did not sleep at the hotel but it’s my favorite place and everybody was very helpful when we came back to pick our luggage out.

The gym, attached Nico restaurant and location were all very convenient.

I paid extra for a high floor King room (was put on 16th floor), but our daughter's King room on the 13th floor had better light and even a partial lake view and it was $80 less. Also, could not figure out how to turn on one of the lamps.

Elegant lobby. Excellent, friendly staff. Great location- minutes from waterfront (we had a partial Lake Michigan view), 12 minutes from The Loop. 2 blocks from high end shopping on Michigan Ave. Right around the corner from some good restaurants and charming pocket park. Beds and pillows were very comfy. Wall of windows on a great view, both south and east. Shower was rain head and hand held- great pressure and instant hot. Amenities like robes and slippers were complimentary.

Small stuff. Things in room were starting to get shabby- broken sink, loose pocket door for bath, curtain had stain. I am super picky, though. My husband didn't notice any of that. Housekeeping could not follow the "keep towel" rule of leaving them in place, and putting used ones on floor. While I wrote a note, we received new ones every day until I took the cleaner inside the room to explain in person. We did not use their free lotions, yet every day received more until I had about 16 bottles lined up.

Aesthetics were great, the was a gentleman at the front desk when I checked in that had fabulous energy that made me feel welcomed, and he continued to have that same energy throughout my stay.
