Easygoing staff, welcome beverage for us (beer) and the kids (pop). Sustainable toiletries, decor was cool, location can’t be beat. The property being downtown feels safe. The doors lock after 11pm and we came home late from a baseball game. You can catch any Uber within a couple of minutes.

Needed to ask for more toiletries. (Family of 4) The parking garage is $50 plus tax. it does close after hours but it would be nice if it was 24/7 for that price. on-site restaurant did exist at one time but is now under Reno’s ?It would be nice to either eat or have a drink right at the hotel.

The location of this hotel is wonderfully close to the Paramount Hotel and the Convention Center. Staff is exceedingly friendly, and our room was ready even hours before check-in, so we were able to move in even before noon. Our room was very quiet and clean. There was a fridge, and a flat screen, also an old-fashioned radio (remember: design hotel with a music theme!). Bedding was very comfortable. The bathroom was spic and span and also held toiletries. There was an ice-maker on a different floor.

Our room description talked of a coffee maker (non-existent) and a mini-bar (it was just an empty fridge). Our room was tiny - not even a second chair. And the view was into what was probably a service area. The mud-gray painting of the walls added to the drab vibe. There was no breakfast, and we paid an additional 50 dollars for a slot in the garage (first-come basis; located around the corner from the hotel, no direct access). To be honest, I found the price for one night pretty much over the top.

The staff were super helpful and friendly (shout out to Sam behind reception who made us feel very welcomed). A text message service/concierge. The bed was super comfortable, a nice central location and a free beer on arrival. Pretty cool art throughout the hotel and the fitness room was good albeit in the smaller side.

Our bedroom was a pretty tight fit, it might be suitable for a solo traveller or couple who are not doing a massive holiday and don’t have much luggage. There is no daily service, you have to let the hotel know 24hr in advance for a daily service (not all that difficult though). The coffee was fairly bitter, however it was free.

This is a quirky old hotel but they have done a wonderful job with what they have to work with. It's a music themed hotel and they did a good job of embracing it. Super tiny elevator. The beds are comfy but rooms are really tiny. Still I would stay here again. Staff was amazing from the bellman to the front desk. At first one of the rooms around me was smoking MJ and I hated that, but smell finally went away. Location is good to train and Pikes Market. It was about $50 less than others around.

Booking.com did not have us in the system yet because we booked last minute, so front desk had to manually enter us. It caused us to be billed twice but I will fix that today. Be careful, there are a lot of homeless around the blocks but they did not bother us. Did not like the fragrance in the lobby. Pillows were tooooooo tall and fluffy...hurt my neck to sleep. Wifi was too spotty to use. Did not know about Pocket Beach!!!! Would like to have curved shower rod--tiny bathroom.

The Max was great. Location could not be beat, especially for the price. Each staff member was lovely and helpful. Lobby decor was very cool. Perks like free daily Happy Hour was fun. Plus coffee each morning in the lobby, made me have to get up and start my day.

The rooms were nice and had mostly everything, you’ll need. The only thing missing was a full length mirror. Just to note: There isn’t coffee or tea in room but there’s some each morning for free in the lobby - so not that big a deal.

The location was great. Free bike rental was a nice touch for exploring the city further. Spacious room with a large TV with plenty of channels. Cool art on the doors and in the halls. Ice machine on 2 floors. Gym - small but has pretty much everything you need. Free locally brewed coffee in the lobby every morning.

The WiFi was inconsistent in the room. No water in the room - you can buy water at reception but it's $5!

Nice clean hotel with lovely décor. Fairly good location close to public transport links and about 15 minute walk to Pike place market and waterfront shops. Compact room with comfy bed and plenty of power points.

Area around the hotel has become a bit run down with many closed stores. Not many restaurants in area - best to eat near waterfront although quite expensive there. Free coffee was advertised every morning in reception but on most occasions this had run out and was a long wait before it was replenished. Annoyingly when the bathroom light was turned on the light above the sink in the bedroom also came on disturbing anyone asleep. Wifi in room was patchy an sometimes needed to go to reception to get good signal.

Were these SROs turned into a hotel? I thought the tiny rooms were very warm and charming without being stifling, but I think if my +1 was there, they'd be kicked into another room for want of space. The shower room was kind of fun. Window was a tad drafty and I heard more of my neighbours than I'd like (always travel with ear plugs). I enjoyed my stay :) Beer o'clock was a cool idea, too!! Lots of good to be said about Hotel Max. I loved how all the artwork on the doors had the titles and artists' names on them for some historic context

No microwaves for guests. I have digestive problems, so bringing my own food makes life easier. I felt bad needing to ask for help from the front desk staff to warm up my dinner. While I don't doubt you do your best with cleaning, I am sure, the shower tiles did not appear clean--most likely due to age--and it made me feel gross; wishing I had brought my shower sandals. Minor complaints that did nothing to stifle my wonderful trip. Valet parking is pricey especially after exchange from CAD

The front desk staff went out of their way to be helpful and amazing!

The amenities need to be updated on booking sites, like the bar and restaurant that are no longer there. And the credit card reader wasn't working which seems to happen frequently.
