Good location, near supermarket and not too far away from the beach. Modern, clean and I was quite happy with my bedroom. It was for 4 persons with own shower and toilet, separated which was great! Beds with curtain. Nice working area with television, movies, books, games and tables.
Please buy some more sharp knives. Around 5 of them is not enough during main cooking time for all people (and half of it was so old that it was more a squeezing than cutting, even if you try to sharpen it up). Some of the gas cooker was a lot weaker and slower than others (none was really fast). Not enough washer and dryer. If you are not fast enough you need to wait for hours. Bed could be more stable, if you turn the whole bed move and I was with my 1,83m nearly to long for the mattress. Staying in Byron Bay isn’t cheap at all, not even here.

The property is very spacious with a clean pool, lots of sun chairs and a gigantic open-air kitchen with lots of stations so many people can cook at once. Staff were super friendly and gave me a visitor key so i could shower, leave my bags in storage and hang out until check in. They have a nice indoor area too for movies/rainy days. The rooms had huge lockers with shelf space inside which made getting stuff in and out convenient, plus they sold locks for a really good price.
Beds didn't have curtains. Bathrooms needed the swipe card to get into them. Beds didn't have individual chargers or lamps. The locations of the electrical outlets were inconvenient for overnight phone charging.

Location was perfect. We had a double room with ensuite, which was great for three friends. We were in town for a festival, so it was a handy spot close to everything. Room was clean, linen was good quality, hotel facilities were really good. Was great having the ensuite. Wasn’t too loud.
Nothing was bad or to be able to fault, but a couple of small tweaks in our room such as a full length mirror and a small chair would have just taken it up a notch. As there weren’t freezers in the common kitchen, an ice machine would be a great addition.

The staff were great in all respects. YhAs are Secure and safe. Comfy clean beds. Great spaces for eating well laid out kitchens.
The buffet breakfast is a very pretty, but a simpler diy breakfast format that is included in the price would be more efficient. The shower heads are dated and inefficient. There needs to be more natural laundry drying spaces. The current lack of which forces folk to either drape clothes and towels on railings and bedsides or use the dryers. These small fixes would help toward the eco friendly attitude portrayed by WHA.

I recently stayed at YHA Byron Bay and had an absolutely amazing experience—it’s easily one of the best YHA hostels I’ve visited in Australia. The entire property feels new and modern, a big contrast to older YHAs. One standout is the kitchen facilities, which are top-notch. Everything you need is there, and it’s all clean and well-maintained. They also have washing and dryer machines on-site that are actually new and work really well—much better than the older machines you often find in other hostels. If you’re a digital nomad, you’ll love the dedicated co-working room with fast internet and plenty of space to set up a laptop. Every table has a plug for charging, which can be hard to find in some hostels. It’s comfortable, quiet, and ideal for getting work done. When you need a break, there are tons of cozy spots around the hostel to relax and unwind. During my stay, I joined the lighthouse tour organized by the YHA staff. They were super friendly and helpful, and it was a fun way to meet fellow travelers and explore the local area. The hostel also hosts plenty of events, so there’s always something social to look forward to. Overall, YHA Byron Bay is a fantastic choice—perfect for travelers who value cleanliness, modern amenities, and a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re there to enjoy the beach, work remotely, or just take in everything Byron Bay has to offer, this hostel ticks all the boxes. Highly recommended! https://youtu.be/xM1u4QVIYwE?si=VvcLg8K5P5rHEKaf

I stayed at the hostel for two nights and had a wonderful experience. The staff were kind, the location was ideal—close to shops, restaurants, and the beach—and the room was clean and peaceful at night. Each bed had its own power outlet, light, and locker, and I stayed in a 4-person shared room with a private bathroom. The hostel offers convenient services like storing bags after check-out and providing a free pass to shower before leaving town, making it easy to enjoy the beach even after checking out.
It would be great if they could clean the shower in the shared bathroom, as it might help improve the water flow during showers.

Great hostel central to Byron Bay. We had a private room with bathroom and its was clean and quiet. The hostel is good with lots going on either at their one or the one up the road. The kitchen was quite small making it difficult to cook at times but a little bit of patience and somewhere will free up. Only issue is they close for cleaning for an hour or so each day but started 30/40 mins early a few times during our stay so had to wait over an hour for it be used again.

The staff were extremely friendly and the facilities were always clean and tidy. The pool is great and the kitchen is very big. I loved the seating area too. I had a room with no air-conditioning and it didn't bother me at all. There are screens on the windows to stop bugs coming in so having both open created nice air flow. The common room is great and there is even a bbq for free use.
There was only 2 plugs next to the beds so I couldn't always charge my phone or other device. More plugs needed. The kitchen closing during the day was also sometimes frustrating especially as I personally kept my drinks in the fridge to keep it cold.

Brilliant location, close to beach, shops and supermarkets. We stayed in a double room with en-suite which was comfortable, clean and really good value for money. Hostel kitchen was large and regularly cleaned, also well equipped. We were also able to rent surf boards from the hostel for a very reasonable price price. This hostel was perfect for a few days in Byron and we would definitely recommend!
Not the most social however we were a couple so this didn’t bother us too much, and everyone we spoke to was lovely, also hostel seems to run daily activities like yoga classes and trivia nights.

Great hostel! Big and nice common area. Really good facilities. Super friendly staff. Highly recommended! Would definitely come again!
To noisy during the night. It says that the volume should be minimised after 10 o'clock in the evening. However, many people come back from partying at night and make a lot of noise. There is no staff that takes care of. No power sockets next to bed.
