I reached the hotel after the reception closed and left the following morning before it opened. Had interaction with the bar staff who guided me to the keys left for me in a secure locker. The hotel had also sent a message with the details. Customer service is good, the bar was busy. The rooms are dated but clean and well maintained. My room overlooked the main thoroughfare, but didn't hear much noise. Bathroom was adequate.
The curtains are pretty old and inadequate. The location is good but the signage isn't. Some more light around the entrance and good signage would help. And a faster lift :)

Better than what I expected. We paid 2 months in advance for a queen room and were very pleasantly surprised to get a small balcony. It fulfils my request for a quiet room with wifi. The dimmable light through the round knob is a very fancy feature, although it flickers. Friendly receptionist at check out.
When I arrived slightly before 6pm, the reception was already closed, but thankfully, the instructions for the door pin and safety box pin were not too hard to follow. The conditioner was empty when we arrived. The water also pooled on the floor of the shower. There is constant water dripping from the roof on the balcony and regular roof noise.

The Clarendon Hotel was excellent! Good value for money ( we had a queen room with balcony), very clean and tidy, there was a microwave in the cupboard which you never find and the bed was super comfortable! Bathroom was pretty good except for the position of the door but otherwise clean and the shower was a decent size. Checking in was good and the girl at reception was really nice. There was a lift to the rooms which again you don’t find very often, and for an older pub the room was great! The food in the restaurant was tasty served super quick, drinks reasonably priced and a really nice garden area to sit in. The harbour foreshore was just across the road and the tram stop as well.
There is no parking available at the hotel so the parking was a bit tricky but the parking station in Argyle St was close by which was handy and the door in the bathroom was in an awkward spot especially when you were on the toilet

Large and modern areas, and was nice and warm. Bed was comfortable too, and the property was central to everything… with only a 2min walk to the Civic Theatre, it was perfect for our dash in the rain.
It was a Thursday night, it was a shame that the bar was shut so early… would have been nice if the bar was open for people that are staying at the hotel to have one drink before they adjourn upstairs to bed. The light and fan in the bathroom was not working, so I had to take the little side lamp from my bedroom and plug it in at the bathroom.

Even though it's obviously an old hotel, the room was pretty good - very clean, comfortable and not small. The bed was very comfy. Staff was very courteous and friendly. the hotel itself is in a very convenient spot - close to parking garage and literally next door to the Civic Theatre.
It would have been nice if the bar stayed open late. It's nice to go and unwind after a show with a glass of wine but we had to walk quite far to find an open bar.

Fabulous staff, excellent location, big room with balcony, serviced daily (unexpected from a pub), good food and drinks if wanting to stay on-site, one block away from the water, 10 min walk to Darby Street.
Nothing, room great a little mould in the bathroom, like a real little a real little otherwise a clear 10. Exceptional value for money and location fabulous we walked it used public transport everywhere. Staff were awesome too, great venue cheers

The proximity to the Civic theatre was very convenient. The room was modern, well appointed and clean. The food from the bistro was wonderful and room service was very fast. Check in process was very easy and the staff were super friendly, welcoming and helpful.
There was obviously noise from the pub, but that is to be expected, and the pub was quiet from about 10:30pm so it wasn’t a problem for me.

Easy location and nearby parking. Big room
Bed did feel broken. I think the base part, but the mattress was comfy, just needs a fix. Windows need double glazing as the noise from the venue just came straight in like the windows were open (but they were shut). Sound between rooms was really quiet/well sound proofed. The duo playing covers was way too loud. People were there for dinner and to talk. It was uncomfortably loud.

Excellent sleep : windows were double-glazed, so no disturbance, even though we overlooked the main road. Lovely shower room, spacious, and good sink size. We ate in the Restaurant, which had a great vibe, and the BEST Mushroom PIZZA I have EVER tasted!
The room wasn't huge, but very comfortable. We didn't unpack, staying only overnight.... but there is a cupboard to take clothes. I would've liked a stool or chair to set clothes out, especially in the bathroom - Only one towel rail to hold towel plus pj's, or another towel. The door to shower is quite large, and opens to 90 degrees against the toilet bowl, which could be awkward... But the shower is lovely .

The comfortable room looking into the beer garden and having live music from our balcony
A bedside table on either side of the bed. We didn’t have a toaster so we borrowed from another room. More cutlery, including steak knives and more crockery, including bowls and dinner plates. Some detergent and dish cloths and scourer would complete the kitchen. These are only constructive criticisms if your not told then you don’t know
