room size excellent, bed comfortable, bathroom and toilet were close to room. overall the room and the stay was quite relaxing and comfortable. however due to the impending train strike I had to cancel my second night in Sydney due to the fact I had a return booking on the train for the Friday night, so I left on the Thursday night, I had informed the staff member who booked me in that I wouldn't need the bed for two night due to impending train strike.
The heralded train strike that didn't happen. which I only found out when I arrived back home Friday morning that the train strike never happened. apart from that I enjoyed my one night at the Grand.

I honestly think that the carpets could be replaced and the intricate wiring system that runs up over a door and down the door jam and into a cupboard could be a little bit simpler or at least labeled where to find out how to turn the damn thing on but all were there for a hospital visit and if I wanted five stars and got there had been disappointed but honestly I was looking for convenience location that you for money and the staff were absolutely awesome
The union I think it was room 31 was quite pass that you just by date the carpet on the floor was pretty worn and disgusting

The staff the young girl behind the bar up in the bistro during lunchtime on Saturday, the gentleman who served our food and the young girl behind the bar downstairs who arrived us was absolutely lovely. They would be the only reason I would ever go back there again is those 3 staff members.
I booked a 4 bedroom and a 2 bedroom, instead I got two 3 bedrooms. The manager was short and unpleasant. There is hand washing facilities in the bathroom or toilet. I will never stay there again.

This was a last minute booking and I grabbed the only hotel available for the date I needed (yay, Matildas!) I was very pleasantly surprised! We had a tidy family room with three comfortable beds. The room had a small basin, and the shared bathrooms were actually separate private toilet and shower rooms (one person use at a time) just across the hall. Location was perfect. Room also had a small fridge, kettle, tea/coffee etc. Convenience store right across the street. We didn't eat in the pub downstairs (more suited to adults than kids) but the food looked good. Staff also friendly at check-in. I will book here again. The lift was out of use at the time but we were warned in advance and it made no difference. The stairs were actually super cute with old-fashioned railings and little landings at each level.
Everything was great. The curtains were not full block-out and did let some light in overnight if that's a problem for others. Did not bother us much.

Fantastic location - quick walk to circular quay, darling harbour, cbd restaurants nightlife. Rooms were spacious for pub rooms. It is an old hotel, so the facilities were quite old, (esp the lift) but it all worked, and the rooms were spacious. Shared bathrooms and toilets - quite big, never saw anyone else. One room was noisy one night, and staff attended to it immediately. Staff were really friendly, and happy to give advice on restaurants etc in the area. Totally recommend. Thank you 😊

Booking.com messed up our reservation so didn't actually stay. Staff although we're so helpful making a disappointing situation tolerable. Staff went out of their way to try and sort although in the end were unable to sort. We ended up re booking at another hotel direct. Location would of been perfect for what we needed. Hotel did feed and hydrate us while trying to sort the mess out. Food was great. We will return but book direct.
Booking.com messing booking up and unable to stay.

Friendly staff, helpful. Very responsive to queries/minor issues such as room fan not operating.. pedestal fan was promptly delivered to the room. Room was serviced daily, awesome staff member helped carry suitcases up 5 flights of stairs as the lift wasn't operating on check in! .... but, back in service within half hour 👌. Perfect location, minutes from Circular Quay/OPT & Darling Harbour, close to train stations/light rail/city shopping. Tea/coffee making facilities & bar fridge in room. Breakfast room with limited supplies, but what was on offer was ok - cereal/milk/toaster/microwave. We were able to store luggage before check-in as we arrived before time, and also on check out as our flight wasn't until later in the afternoon. Special thanks to the awesome staff member that carried the cases up the stairs (sorry, forgot his name), Joseph & 'muchas gracias' to the lovely Paola. Great offer of 10% off drinks/meals for guests in the hotel
Nothing that we didn't like - very minor points - no skim milk offered in the rooms/breakfast room (I didn't ask as wasn't overly fussed about it). TV reception was a bit unreliable

It was a great location, the building had beautiful architecture and our room had the most lovely arched windows. If you look around inside you will see some fun props and decor. Multiple options of shared space including guest only areas and a great bar open to the public with guest discount on food and drinks
As expected in an older building there was a stale smell throughout the building but that was easily combated in the room by opening a window. It was a little noisy from the street but once that quietened down it was very peaceful. There were no air-conditioning in the room however fans were provided which was enough to keep us cool

excellent location. comfortable room.
There is no nighttime, staff and the telephone numbers provided for the out of hours, concierge and support do not work. The toilets are communal and a fellow guest managed to lock himself out while visiting the toilet out of hours on a Saturday/Sunday night. I tried to help him by calling the numbers provided, but the numbers were disconnected. The cleaner arrived at 9:00 am, but was still unable to help him until the manager arrived at 11 am. there needs to be an emergency telephone on the wall in the communal area and accurate numbers provided to contact emergency support.

The room was comfortable. The Hotel is in a good location. Right in the heart of the city. Just a couple of streets away from Martin Place where I had to attend for one day. Good food places close by and the train station is handy as I needed to get back to the airport. Would defintely come back to stay when I have my holidays.
The tea-making facilities in the wardrobe were strange. The Hotel could have had that set up beside the basin on a small bench. Not hard to do. Very noisy. There was some sort of generator going all night switching on and off. The fire alarm went off & I was awoken when 2 firefighters burst open the door. They did apologise. Got a bit of a fright. It is an old hotel. Run down, worn carpet dated furniture & peeling paint. Definitely needs work to be done. The lift is hard to manage. Heavy doors didn't stop on ground level when I used them on one occasion. Had to be helped down to get out.
