Hotel is in a great location, close to lots of amenities that you require that were within a short walk. Room was great and bed comfortable. Close to transport both train, bus and light rail within a very short walk of your hotel which was fantastic.

As I was travelling on my own, I relied on the TV for some entertainment at night. I found that a lot of what was on the TV was repeated and on some channels the programs were of old content (ie Insight was an old program that I had seen at home before coming to Sydney) throughout my eight day stay. It would be so much more beneficial if 7+, 9Now, Iview and SBS on Demand which are free to air TV was available instead of what was shown on the TV so that there was a better choice of entertainment available especially for someone travelling on their own.

Location was wonderful and close to everything we needed. The hotel was clean and quiet, very comfortable and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay immensely and will definitely be coming back again for our future trips to Sydney! Loved the old style decor, really made the experience unique. Finally, we were very grateful for the luggage storage as our flights home were severely delayed. Allowed us to enjoy our final day in Sydney without 50kg of bags behind us! Thanks very much. :)

We didn’t know how to turn on the fan in the bathroom - the little function panel would not let us select that fan. Other than that, no worries!

My husband is in a wheelchair and we stayed in an excellent accessible room with city views. It was spacious and well set up for his wheelchair. It had a fridge, microwave and TV too and was very quiet being on the 7th floor. There's a fast elevator and the hotel is in an excellent location 5 mins walk from Central Station and at the Haymarket light rail stop. It's also a short walk to Chinatown.

We booked more than a month in advance and we were not guaranteed a wheelchair accessible room until we rang the hotel about 10 days before, despite emailing them twice, which was stressful.

The location was fantastic, we drove and parked under the Capitol Theatre as we were going to a show. The hotel is just around the corner and within a short walk if we'd caught the train. We loved that we could have a drink and dinner before the show right where we're staying and then, breakfast in the morning. The meals were excellent too, fabulous scrambled eggs. I have to mention the lift, it looked like it was very new and SUPER fast. Most older hotels have horrendous lifts but this was excellent. Loved the decor of the old building too, just a great place. We will definitely be staying again.

The bed was just a wee bit hard for me, though Hubby was fine with it. The only reason I said I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic getaway was, that as fabulously Aussie as the pub was, it couldn't really be called romantic. But we loved the original decor and the Aussie-ness of it. (and the food)

An easy and short walk from the station. Front and back entrances - there are a number of excellent Asian eateries out the back in Thomas Lane and perfect espresso at Noelle's Cafe. The bathroom was spacious and the bed comfortable. I loved having a fan over the bed and a small, quiet refrigerator in the room.

The toilet in my bathroom did not flush efficiently- 5 full flushes plus 2 jugs of water was required! Instant coffee and a jug was awful. Fortunately Noelle's was open on Sunday morning for good food, friendly service and a very decent espresso. Some people were noisy and inconsiderate while they waited for the lift. Although the corridors are carpeted, the noise stil penetrated the door of my room. Ask for a room away from the lifts.

Way exceeded expectations. I booked expecting an acceptable place to stay in a great location but I found myself feeling so comfortable in the room. Quiet, clean, a very pleasant outlook. Clever use of mirrors to make the room feel very spacious. I was very happy. The area felt very safe, I was traveling on my own.

I found nothing that I could complain about. The breakfast didn't look like something I would want when there are so many great coffee shops around but others seemed to find it very convenient.

Great location. Very close to railway station and on tram line but never heard them. Room was clean and comfortable with plenty storage space, great air conditioning and a really powerful shower. A 30 minute walk or 5 minutes on tram to Circulay Quay, the main hub for all ferry services.

I was enjoying my pint in the fenced off area for the bar associated with the hotel until they allowed smoking at which point I was forced to move inside. As far as I am aware that area, whilst being outside, is a public area and smoking should not be allowed at any time.

The hotel is situated right near the central rail station and very near to shops and restaurants. It made a great base to see Sydney and enjoy the bars and restaurants just a short walk away. Despite being above a hotel, we found the rooms quiet and we had great sleeps every night. The room and the bathroom were very clean and comfortable. The hotel restaurant offered good breakfast options and the bar had a good vibe and was a safe place to have a meal and watch the tv.

Squeaky floor boards in the hallway. We felt uncomfortable that we might be disturbing others.

Grand hotel preserved its charm and character from early 1900's been updated with lifts, swipe cards no keys, aircon, ensuites, tv's in rooms. some of the best customer service I've experienced. restaurant offers great value for money meals and breakfast menu is very popular. located out front door is light rail system or 2 min walk to central station. $22 by rail to airport or $70 taxi in peak times. behind hotel is Market city/Paddy's market which leads into China town, then Chinese gardens and your then entering Darling harbour/Cockle bay water front, full of eateries, tour attractions, ferry boats, outdoor entertainment venues. stroll around at night for the specular views as building light up reflecting off the harbour. Awesome Hotel with friendly helpful staff in a great location. look forward to returning there again.

not a dislike but more advise for people with vehicles. here is no streetcar parking available outside front of the hotel due to light rail system. the Hotel does provide Car parking (daily fee) or you can try your luck parking behind the hotel but parking usually full.

Great location, clean and all basic facilities provided. It's a great location in the city and accesable and within walking distance to many points of interest. We like the option to have our rooms at a cheaper price by choosing not to have daily room service. We asked for a quiet room and it was. Bed was comfortable. Clean and modern bathroom.

No hand towell provided. Recommend refillable containers in showers as in many other hotels for shampoo and soap and conditioner. Would be a better environmental contribution. Room was suitable but very small with fridge not opening properly because it was too close to the bed.
